Hi,
Does the clothesetter 10000 work with the 15000?

No, sorry the hoops for the 10000 are entirely different from those of the 15000. You need the part #859039008 Clothsetter for the 9900, 12000 or 15000. No other Clothsetter wil work for these models.

I printed out these directions and will try them.  The problem that I am working on now is that Embird doesn't have the ASQ22 hoop as an option for hoop size.  I tried to create a custom hoop of that size, but then when I try to open the design in the Acufil program it says the design is too big for the hoop.  I'll keep playing around and hopefully figure out something.

Gail, I have never once used my 12000 clothsetter other than setting its alignment. But also don't use Acufil.

Most of the time its a better choice to use the size 14 needle when doing stitching on multiple layers of a quilt. Its easier on the thread too. Size 11 (Janome blue tip) are meant for most general piecing and stitching. Remember, smaller needle equals thinner fabric and or layers, bigger needle equals thicker fabrics and or layers! Check out Superior Threads website (makers of King Tut thread) for info on needles and threads, they're good educators on the topic.

If You can buy it, do it! Especially nice to get a sweet sale price. I wish every Janome dealer promoted the Cloth Setters to every embroidery machine purchaser. It truly makes hooping a lot easier because it holds the hoop steady, and yes it's fabulous with the acufil hoop!
Get in your car and go buy it!

I have the clothsetter and love it. I wouldn't be able to get my designs to line up 'near' perfect if I didn't. How I know? When I purchased the 12k I had been used to the 10K and 11K with clothsetter table. Until Janome came out with clothesetter for the 12K I had a horrible time. Don't know if it was because I was already used to it or not but as soon as the 12K clothsetter came out I ordered one. Love it! If you do get it, just remember to calibrate it with the machine, and check it again as time goes on because somehow it does get out of line.

Your help files in the Acufil program gives you the instructions how to open a JEF file.  I am not familiar with embird but as long as you can save your design in a JEF and it fits in the 8.7 8.7 sewing area you can open the design in your Acufil program. I have the Janome MBX program and  save my quilting stipple etc in a JEF and then have imported into the Acufill program with no issues using the directions in the help file.  At one time Janome had a video and free webinar on its website, you could check you tube it might be on there as well.

Are you referring to the help files in the Acufil program or her Embird program?

I finally bought this because I was trying to get accurate placement with the GR hoop on doing a border along the edge of a long tablecloth.  It works great for that. However for embroidery using just one design I find that I can get away with a template and then the grid in the hoop.

For accurate placement if you are using the acufil hoop and you are unsure, then I would say the investment in the clothsetter is good.  You can't go wrong with it if you can get it at a discount.

FootBook is in the process of being updated to correspond to the newly available item. For the 12000 you get 202106009. For the 15000 (& 9900) ONLY you get 202135007, which only recently came out.

A question, Jim,
My dealer sold me the Convertible Free Motion Quilting Foot Set for the 9900... because it is 9mm for use on my 12000.  It is part number 202146001.

Is this incorrect?

Thanks!
Pat

Wishing spring would finally get here, Jim says:
That's the perfect choice. This is the latest incarnation of the convertible set and is entirely right for the 8200, 8900, 9900, 12000, 15000 and all 7mm high shank models.

I do have the clothsetter but have not used it a lot.  I do not use it for the acufil program at all.  If you properly mark your quilt in the places that the program shows you, and then use your heavy plastic grid that came with your hoop you will get it lined up straight with no problems.  Leave the hoop attached to the machine so you know your hoop is straight then bring your hoop to the forward spot by using the forward option on the machine and it will be easier to hoop the next area.  When you mark your quilt put a couple of short lines along the top and bottom of the area and it will also help to get it all straight.  When I mark my quilt I use a frixion pen, they are so nice, easy to get the marks back off the fabric.  I also always have my acrylic table attached to the machine.  It would be lots harder to re-hoop without it.

Wow, this is disappointing.  I was hoping to be able to use the entire 9.1 by 11.8 area!

Thanks for the info Jim.  However, I was just looking at Footbook and it says to get #858820007 for the 12000 and the 15000.  It says to  "choose the version appropriate for the zigzag width of your machine".  I am about to purchase on and just want to be sure I am getting the right one,

Please advise.

Thanks

With the Acufil program you are limited to an 8.7 x8.7 sewing area.  Multiple hooping is the only way to do a large quilt using the program. You can open a JEF design in your program look in your help files it tells you step by step.

I finally sat down for a few minutes and tried to figure out how to do acufil stippling.  When I enter the size of the quilt I want to stipple, a file automatically comes up as the best one to use based on the size of the quilt.

However, I want to make the stippling farther apart, which I think I can do using the Embird software I have (by enlarging a smaller design).  What I can't figure out is how to save the file so it is the one that the acufil program opens when I put in my quilt size.

I'm wondering if anyone has found some way to stipple an entire quilt with a larger stipple design then provided in the program.  I know I could stipple individual blocks but that's not what I am trying to do.

Threads also won't always cut if you don't have fabric under the hole in the throat plate-the fabric helps hold the thread, otherwise it shifts to the side when the cutter activates.

I just found out from the dealer's daughter while ago that after I left their store they went to use their floor model and discovered it was having issues too now!  They had attached the embroidery arm off my machine to test it on their machine.  It made a horrible sound.  They tried it several times.  While I was there the daughter tested their floor model machine and it seemed fine.  But evidently later found out it was affected!

So now they not only are getting me a new machine but also one for them!  I feel so sorry for them!  She told me she had some classes to give coming up too!

So whatever is wrong with that embroidery arm messes up the machine!

Yes, it is good to know it wasn't me!  I was sure it wasn't in this case, but always in the back of my mind with these fancy machines!  I'm sure I will love this machine one I get it!
