I could not get my needle threaders to work and was very disappointed. Then I discovered it does not work if the foot is not locked down. Now that I lock my foot it works like a charm. I do not think it tells you that in the manual.

There is not much more you can do. It continues to baffle me why Janome introduces new machines without the 5 x 7 hoop, when there is an unending demand for one. It took more than a year to get the 5 x 7 for the 11000 (and then many of them were warped). Hopefully they are working on a 5 x 7 for the 12000 now and we'll see it some time in 2013.

I had the Janome compact disc player for my 1100 and used it all the time - so far I have not been able to get it to work with the 12000. Is there something I need to do or does the 12000 just not recognize it?

I am very glad that the needle threader at the 12000 has changed back to the simple one. It allways works perfectly. I do not miss the threader of the 11000, because I often had problems with it, I remember lots of times I had to open the machine to reset it.

I am new to this group but have enjoyed reading past posts. I am talking with my dealer about trading in my 350e and 6300 for the 12000. I really want a larger hoop than my 5x7. I love both my machines and have major anxiety about having only one machine for both sewing and embroidery. I have not been able to test drive yet (they sold out over Christmas), but hopefully their shipment will come in this week. On the Janome website some people complained about the needle threader. Seems kind of minor to me with all the other bells and whistles. ;)

Re: Couching foot?

Jim_Stutsman <jim@...>

The Miracle Stitcher foot does work on the 12000. You just have to move the needle position. The part number for the foot is 830463013. However this part is no longer in the dealer parts catalog and not likely to be available ever again. The original high shank Miracle Stitcher kit is still showing, but is out of stock. Considering how they gave them away with nearly every embroidery machine several years back, I think it's safe to assume that it has been retired.

What size stabilizer do the majority use?

gbo4

I've read the very helpful stabilizer saver notes (thank you for sharing).

I would like to know if the 2nd option of using multiple pieces of stabilizer works as well as what a large full sheet might.

Is the fabric for the project(bath toweling vs. lighter weight fabric)a part of your decision process?

Also, I'm going shopping for some of the larger stabilizer and would appreciate your thoughts on whether to buy the cutaway or multiple types.

Thanks,

Georgia

Thank you all for your responses. I wish I could keep both my 350e and 6300 and still get the 12000, as i have never had trouble out of either, but we are getting ready for retirement and downsizing so space is a consideration in addition to cost. Hopefully I will get to play with one this week. Keeping my fingers crossed! Barbara

Re: Advance Stitch count

oddduck25

I agree with Vicki that you can't enter a stitch to jump to it, but as you hold the + or - button longer, it starts skipping more stitches at a time. First by ones, then tens, then hundreds. I'm not sure if it goes all the way to skipping by thousands. Also, if you know the stitch you need is in a certain color, you can advance to the start of that color and then use the + key to get to the specific stitch.

I can't compare, I didn't have one before. I know it had a different part# than the one for 11K, that could be so they could charge more????

Is this the case? I thought it might be different because of the 9mm

My needle threader hasn't worked since the day I took my 12000 out of the box. I will get it repaired when I take my machine for servicing.

The minor inconvenience of the needle threader is far outweighed by the wonderful features that do work.

Try using the 9mm beading foot - there are 2 - wide groove and narrow groove. I used the wide groove to couch some Christmas cording and it worked just great.

Thank you, yes I am looking forward to trying it out. I have a Babylock Evolution serger that I also love and would consider the Ellisimo but cost will be more even with trade-in at the BL dealer.

What about the updates on the 12000? How often do they come out and at what expense? As I am a quilter I am particularly interest in the Accufil. Thanks, Barbara

Too bad about the Miracle Stitcher. I still have the one I used on the 8000 and used it on the 7700, but it doesn't work on the 12000. Since I traded in the 7700, I can't use it anymore but can't bear to part with it.

The 12000 is just an awesome machine! Will you get very much for the 6300 on your trade in? If not, you may want to think about keeping it. It is handy to have another machine to sew on while the 12000 is embroidering. Also, I just love the needle threader on the 12000. It works great.
