11000 query

Jim, I presume the new machine no longer uses cards, can I get the designs I have on cards transferred to my computer? most of my later designs are on memory sticks which I used to transfer them to the machine, are these also US? I know there is a direct link between a lap top and the machine I presume you send the designs from the lap top to the machine ready to sew?????

By the way I have a card reader but do not seem to be able to get it to talk to my computer, may be I need one that will talk to windows 7?

As noted, the 11000 foot holder is available online. Most of the high-shank screw on-feet (which is all the 11000 screw-on feet) should work fine. We've checked the narrow zipper foot and it works great. If by "offset free motion embroidery foot" you mean the one with the spring that hops up and down, it works but you don't need to keep it. Every standard foot that comes with the 11000 also comes with the 12000, and a few have been improved. To decide what to keep, check the front of your 11000 manual to see what feet it came with. Keep everything else.

If I do decide to go a head and buy the 12000 I would like to get the foot holder so I can use some of the extra feet I bought for the 11000, where can I get one from???? I have looked at the janome sites and cannot see one so I guess its only avaiable yo dealers?

Can you use the feet that do not require the foot holder, the ones that screw diect to the shaft? I have an offset free motion embroidery foot which I use a lot I would love to be able to keep it.

I'll have to check out the multi thread stand that Janome made for the machine ... Both of my thread stands hold multiples ... like 12 and always sat behind the machine so they would be in the way of the embroidery arm/hoop. Way too big to hang from the handle.

UPDATE: Both the standard ruffler and the Acufeed ruffler work just fine on the 11000 foot holder!

I am doing the same thing. I just saw it on the Brubakers Sewing website for $12.95.

Thanks. You have been so helpful. I've read all the emails here to try to learn as much as I can about the machine before I buy it. Janome should really be paying you to do this, because it is the only site on the internet I have found that is providing more info than I could find on the Janome site.

It's a snap-on foot, so yes it should work if you have the 11000 foot holder. Note that the ultimate ruffler foot (Part #943100000) was made for non-Acufeed models. The 12000 does support Acufeed, but does not have the same pieces that required the special Acufeed ruffler (Part #846415008). Both of these feet have screws that allow the needle hole to be moved left to right and front to back. As long as you have the needle directly over that hole and use a straight stitch, I think it will work. We'll do some research and report back.

The multithread stand I have for my 11000 I no longer screw in and out, I learned from Jim (I think) that you can just "hang" it on the handle. Perhaps you can "hang" one of the thread stands you have on the handle of the new machine?

I'm realizing that none of my previous multithread stands will work with the 12000 (DRAT) -- but nonetheless I still would have bought her. I'm wondering if I can put these behind the handwheel and still thread them. It seems that it would add more tension --

The single wood thread stand in the photos is very cool. I, too, would love to know where that came from. Looks like a piece of art.

Thanks for setting me straight, I was just going on what my Vdealer was telling me. I would much rather have the hoop info available than the new format.

If any of your designs came from emblibrary.com you can change the format in your preferences and download them again in the new format. I have Viking's 4D software and it will save designs in JEF format as well as other formats. Just heard from my Viking dealer that the new 5D Professional upgrade will save designs in the new Janome 12000, JPX format.

The new MBX software does not send to a flash drive however, if you save your design from the MBX as a JEF in your documents or where your other embroidery designs are saved you can then send it to your flash drive and drag and drop it into the folder for your machine that is formatted on your flash drive.  I know it is a work around but in the long run it is the easiest way for now until they correct it in the software.

The thread stand that was designed for the Horizon 7700 works with the 12,000.

Be sure to keep any threads away from the hand wheel. At 1,000 stitches per minute, it would take only a second for a stray thread to get pulled in and wound up inside!

It should be noted that you do not HAVE to use the JPX format on the 12000. This format allows for embedded JPG images, but the original JEF formats are all supported on the 12000. Also supported is the JEF+ internal format used on the 11000.
