Re: Janome9900/Elna860
That's why you got the message. The bobbin case either got spun past the stopper, or was lifted up by thread being out of the take-up lever so it jammed. Remove the thread. Then turn the hand wheel backward (away from you) if you can. That will usually get the bobbin case free. Do not attempt to use it again until the bobbin case has been carefully inspected, top and bottom, for damage. If it's OK, when you put it back in check to make sure the "bump" at about 5 o'clock on the bobbin case goes up against the stopper. See the arrow below for proper positioning. The small spring on that silver stopper (at the tip of the arrow) should look like the photo. If it's bent or missing, see your dealer. Continued use could cause a lot more damage. This is not an expensive part, and it's easy to replace or adjust if needed.

Thanks for your quick reply. When I went to take out bobbin case, it seems to be stuck. What is the best way to remove?

First shut your machine off. Let it rest a few minutes. It is possible your arm has something stopping it. It sounds more like your embroidery arm making the noise. Before turning back on check your arm. If you have canned air blow a little at your arm.(I know we aren't supposed to blow in our machine so be careful. Then turn back on and see if it reset itself. If everything fails it is a trip to the dealer. Sent from my T-Mobile 4G LTE Device

Re: Janome9900/Elna860
Remove the needle plate and bobbin case. Turn the hand wheel through a couple of stitch cycles. If it is hard to turn, it may be a bushing failure which will require dealer intervention. If it turns easily, put everything back together and try again, including rethreading. It the hand wheel turned without a bobbin case, but is hard to turn with it installed, either it's not in correctly, or it is damaged and is dragging on the hook race.

I am trying to embroider on my Elna860(same as Janome9900) when I start the embroidery, the machine stutters, I get an error message, and it will not sew. the error message is "is anything stuck in machine? is cloth too thick? is needle bent? check these and try again
I have replaced needles, cleaned out machine, rehooped the fabric(quilting cotton), but I cannot make it work. A few minutes before this started, it was working fine. Has anyone experienced this?

I have a friend that uses Embird and loves it. She says that she can resize a design more than 20% with no problem in Buzz edit (I think). It was one component of the program. Kathy

Re: 350E price
No it won’t hurt the machine, if it doesn’t read the format it just won’t show it. I’m fairly sure the 350 will read it, can’t remember if I’ve used it on mine.

Lyn mentioned that the machine might read .dst format but the colors wouldn't be that same. I can convert to that format. It won't hurt the machine if I try using .dst?

I've been using Bernina for the last couple of years too.
Donna, was thinking of you recently when I was looking back through a Janome Digest magazine with your quilt draped over the armchair, I remember when you made that quilt. Like so many others, I belonged to the Yahoo Janome groups. Nice to see you again!

You might simply download trials of any you are considering. Only download one at a time, though, or one’s trial might expire before you get to try it. I trialed Embrilliance and liked it (wanted digitizing) but it didn’t allow saving to test stitch. It was easy to use (for me and the way I think) but I got Hatch. I Embird also had a trial, as did SewWhat Pro, and Hatch, and I tried as many as interested me at that time. - Cat Typos courtesy of autocorrect.

Re: Bernina Software

It’s also missing a couple other things…like cut work and stump work, but not having Corel drawing tools isn’t a serious issue, and if you already have certain Corel software, check with Wilcom…when I bought it, they told me Hatch could use Corel if I already had it…which I did…but I never installed it on my new laptop with Hatch. (Corel isn’t my favorite graphics co.) If you need graphics tools to prep an image before digitizing, there are many others that are good…some are free or very inexpensive…vector editing or bitmap editing. - Cat Typos courtesy of autocorrect.

Re: Conversion tips
Cat - N
I pretty much never use the original colors in a purchased design. Lol. It’s one of the main reasons I bought several editors before Hatch was invented…before MBX 5 came out. I have also bought .pes and some other formats when a design wasn’t being sold in .JEF format. I have had very good experiences with converting designs but I do often test if there’s any doubt…or it’s important or I don’t want to have to rip! - Cat Typos courtesy of autocorrect.

Re: Bernina Software

jef format has been recognized by Bernina Embroidery Software 8 since the software was updated to 8.2 in earl 2019. For those not liking Janome Artistic Digitizer, the Bernina software is a great option as it contains all the features and more that Janome Digitizer MBX 5.5 has. Hatch is missing Corel Draw and Corel Photopaint. That is why it is less expensive.
