12000 side "table"

Joyce Daniel

At the recent ATL Sew Expo, I saw a clear lucite side “table” that hooked on to the machine. Wondering if anyone has this side table on their 12000 that could give an opinion on it? Also, where one can be purchased or if another has one they would like to sell/get rid of?

Thanks!!! Joyce…..in brrrrr Alaska visiting her daughter

Sandy,
I have the iPad that Jim recommended just now. It is indeed the best price. I bought my Apple Pencil on Amazon. Mine is 1st generation for the iPad 10.2 8th gen and works well. It is normally about $99 but I found it on sale during the holidays for about $15 off of that price. You would want to get your iPad first since the Pencil (1st gen or 2nd gen) is specific to the type of iPad you get.

On a slightly different topic but still Apple, I have a dinosaur laptop which I have relied on for years which appears to be failing. Do you have a recommendation. I use it for all my Janome storage and transfer of embroidery designs to my machine. I use a much newer phone and iPad for everything else. Looking for a newish laptop for Janome interface. Recommendations please.

Oh wow Kaye, you’re in a pickle, and one that happened to me as well.
Sewiconz is the villain! I had installed it to see if it was a good option for my students who didn’t have any software to view embroidery designs. What a mess.
When it happened to me it took many, many tries for the Janome team and Wilcom working with me to get the program to work properly again. As Jim said the MBX was the appointed default to display images and Sewiconz overruled that and when you uninstall it permanent changes happened in MBX.
Don't worry, keep at the support people, and they’ll find the solution for your computer. You’ll be changing command lines and they need to determine exactly which.

I wish you good success!

Just as FYI, the "Mending Plates" I received from the Amazon link Jim provided were a Stanley product, Item 75-5851.  I would kind of expect to see these in just about any hardware store, if needed very quickly.

Sandy posted this link for the HASP driver and it worked great on my computer.  I used her instructions for installing Digitizer Pro and was able to get my old software up and running.

Be sure to read the update installation instructions.  You will also need to download a Windows 10 dongle driver for digitizer embroidery software.  I downloaded mine from:

https://supportportal.thalesgroup.com/csm?sys_kb_id=61fb0ee1dbd2e78cfe0aff3dbf9619ab&id=kb_article_view&sysparm_rank=8&sysparm_tsqueryId=5b1f73701b122c10f2888739cd4bcbd7&sysparm_article=KB0018320.

Re: Mbx 5.5 will not open

Times like this are when you really want to have an image backup of your C drive, but I suspect you don't have that. It sounds like you may have multiple problems happening at once. Windows allows only one program to be responsible for opening a given file type. When you installed Iconizer it became the default. When you uninstalled it the default was not changed back to MBX - Windows doesn't do that. We have not upgraded from 5.0 to 5.5, so I don't know what's involved with the USB stick that came with 5.5. I would not recommend installing or reinstalling from the 5.0 DVD. Your best option now is to wait for Janome because this is very complex software and is super easy to mess up. The CRC error is worrying, because that essentially is saying that data being read from a hard drive is not correct. It could be a hard drive failure, especially if it's very old, or it could be a memory failure. It could also be data corruption. While you are waiting, it might be good to run diagnostics on the computer: https://quickdata.org/blog/how-to-run-diagnostics-on-windows-10/

For those reading this, the best kind of backup is one that makes a byte for bye image to an external hard drive. This is what I used before my Windows sobriety: https://www.acronis.com/en-us/products/true-image/
With an image backup you can restore your computer back to the state it was in when last backed up. If you do nightly backups you will normally never lose any work.

Mbx 5.5 will not open

Kaye Lessard

I  need advice
I have mbx5.5 on laptop windows 10
I was trying to send designs from a removable hard drive to a usb stick- looking at designs in manage designs - opening them -then write to usb
It wouldn’t write or let me export
Then it wouldn’t let me see designs!!!
They are older designs
So after using horizon link I decided to download sew iconzer
It put red X on my designs
So I uninstalled it!!
Now I am getting designs open with Corel
Will not let me change Jef files to digizter mbx

So I tried to repair the program -went to janome site downloaded the latest hasp driver
Then using the usb stick that came with v5.5 upgrade
I tried repairing the program
But then I got a crc error!!!
Now the digizter mbx will not open at all!!!
I have sent an email to janome- waiting for answer
Thought about I installing then reinstalling
But do I use the v5.0 cd then usb stick ?
If I’m suppose to use the usb stick what do I do if it is corrupted?
Any guidance is appreciated !!

Re: Janome HD Roller Foot for Janome 7mm and 9mm High Shank Machines

Pixey

I purchased one on sale last fall to use on my HD9 when sewing purse style projects but have not had a chance to use it yet because things got sidetracked for a few months by my husband’s recovery from broken leg.  May be trying it soon as I am currently at work on a new purse project.

I suspect the confusion about compatibility comes from the fact that there have been two different styles of Acufeed used on Janome machines.  The older Acufeed system on the 6600P came all the way down from the machine to hook into the foot and was much more ‘in-the-way’ behind the shaft than the newer Acufeed Flex style of the 15000 where most of the mechanics are actually located within the removable foot system and the single connection point to drive the motion is much higher and more out of the way.

Janome dealers should all carry the foot compatible with the 15000. Just last week I asked my dealer about it and am scheduled to go in and test it out before purchasing it.
It's pretty expensive so they're letting me try before buying.
The video I saw about it also showed doing a sort of "free motion" quilting using the foot which is what I was interested in trying.

Thank you so much for these great tips!

I never realized or thought about switching end of spool with notch; as it’s always frustrating when it gets caught.

Love this group!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Interesting that you say you always heard that the thread should come off the bottom not the top of the spool when in the horizontal position!
I always have heard and done the opposite, Off the Top! If possible.
And I just have always taken notice of which end of the spool has that little notch and turn it the other way so we don't have it get stuck.
I really don't think I've ever noticed that turning the spool one way or the other has affected my stitching.
Don't throw your spool away Kathy, just turn it around!

Re: Janome HD Roller Foot for Janome 7mm and 9mm High Shank Machines

Carole O'Mara

I ordered the HD Roller Foot and should have it Monday--with a free return--so I can try it at home on my machine and fabrics.  I, too, am interested in using it for free motion look.  But this foot appears to be useful for shadow quilting or following a design in a fabric. I do as much as I can using the embroidery mode (on the 15000) to quilt my quilts.  There are many stitches to choose from instead of straight stitch in the ditch that I've used, too.   I'll report back.  I'll be interested to hear our thoughts after you try it.
Thanks,

Sadly, the last time I checked, I was told that Superior had discontinued this version of their thread stand.
