Re: Skipped stitches

Cheryl Paul

Have you tried the “Purple” tip needle? I’ve never sewed cork, so I’m not sure what needles are recommended for it, but my friend has sewed many on her 12000, 15000, and probably most on her old 6600. She got a Continental M7 as she makes so many that she wanted a more robust machine and that the M7 is. However, she has never mentioned having skipped stitches using cork or vinyl - she amazes me.

Skipped stitches

I have been trying to make a phone bag using cork and a fabric lining.  When  I am sewing on cotton fabric, my Janome Horizon stitches beautifully but when I add layers of cork and fabric,  the machine may skip one or several stitches.  I have changed needles and thread and speed.  Any suggestions will be welcome.  Thanks!

Cynthia, I'm glad it helped!  You may be replacing the needle again (on a new plate or your original one) if you have a tendency to bunch up your stitches on the stitch finger and then pull hard to get them off.  Work gently and it will last for years, I've repaired mine 2 times in 20 years!

Pat is right. If it only happens while embroidering, remove the carriage. If still happens when sewing normally, then it's in the machine. That's about as far as you can go for diagnosis, and you'll need dealer involvement for correction.

Whoa, I would get it to the dealer asap.  Let someone certified look into that and fix it for you.

Re: MC15000 beeping at me

If it's not stopping with an icon on the screen, it might be due to an intermittent disconnect in the foot control. Try sewing with the foot control unplugged to see if that stops it. If it does, then the problem is the foot control. Otherwise you may need to see your dealer for a diagnosis.

MC15000 beeping at me

Pat

Good morning,
Please help, my MC15000 started giving me an intermittent "beep" as I sew.  The sewing machine icon in the top left hand corner of the screen is red.  I sew maybe 5 to 10 stitches and it "beeps."  I keep my machine very clean so there's nothing in the bobbin case, I turned off the alert for a low bobbin, I tried a different sole plate.  There is nothing in the troubleshooting section of the Owner's Manual...I am at a loss.  Any ideas?  Thank you in advance.  This group is a great help and I enjoy reading all the posts.

If you install Dropbox on an IPad and also have the other Janome apps , could you work with the embroidery function from there?

I would like to download embroidery designs from the internet using my MAC using Dropbox and then transfer to USB. That has worked in the past. But now I would like to transfer from that USB to my PC into HLS. I don’t want to have only some designs on the USB and some on the PC in HLS.

How do I download from Dropbox to USB to PC?

TIA,
Carole

Thank you Jim, can always count on your expertise.  I contacted a Janome dealer and waiting to hear if I can get a new needle plate ordered.

Oh my gosh!!  I can't thank you enough Andrea!!!  I took the broken needle and measured it with my digital caliper and got the thickness of the needle, then got out my quilting needles and found one the same size.  I cut it to size and put a coat of Gorilla super glue and left it dry and then put on a second coat.  I am waiting for that to dry.  I am hoping she will be as good as new!!!  I just can't imagine retiring my serger because of a needle.  She still is the best.!!  You are a life saver!

"I’ve always found, if I use the Janome prewound bobbins I use the red or normal bobbin case it has a different tension to the yellow.  The thread on a Janome prewound is probably thinner, it’s usually either 90 or 100, where as we often buy 60 or 80 bobbin thread. "

Yes, I was thinking about that.  Will have to try it.

Still don't know why the top thread is not picking up the bobbin thread when I start a new design??

Cynthia, I have replaced the “needle” on my serger many times over the years as well as my customers! The length is important, it should not be the same length as the stitch finger or the stitches will not be released and will bunch up. Remove the broken “needle” and select a straight pin that will fit into the groove, then place the “needle” in the slot and secure it with a drop of super glue. I use a thin quilting straight pin with the ball cut off.

I've been doing a lot of embroidery lately.  #1 - I found that when I begin a new project, the top thread is not picking up the bobbin thread, and pulling through the to the top of the plate. (top thread stitches, but not connecting with bobbin thread).   I need to manually turn the wheel to pick up the thread and pull it through the plate.  After that I don't have that issue.  #2 - The bobbin I was using, was used up so to make it quick and easy, I used the "Janome" prewound bobbin.  The tension was completely off and the top showed more bobbin thread than the top thread.  Went back to winding my own bobbins and it works just fine.  I am using the bobbin holder with the yellow dot.  #3 - when jumping from one part of the design to another, it's not doing a great job of cutting the thread and sucking it under the piece I'm working on.  I constantly have to stop and trim it off.

It's still available as a part from a dealer - 888601003. Unfortunately we did not keep any parts. I have in the past done the cut-off-a-needle trick. It doesn't work very well, because the original needles are actually held in place by friction and slight crimping of the edges of the plate. It might work for a while until you can get a new plate. You might try some of the large online dealers to see if they would ship one to you.

Elizabeth Ann,

My 15000 App is at Version1.5.2(18)-20 and I just did a re-load from the APP store for it.  My foot-book is V 4.2.2(15)-20 also just re-loaded.  You had an error in the My1500 App, so it had me do a check to see what it was on-line, today February 24th.
