Mary-

The most common reason for this is that the design (on your computer) is not rotated so that it will fit the orientation of the hoop you have chosed.  Turn the design 90degrees, save it to the USB and see if it shows up then.  If even 1 stitch is outside the embroidery "stitch field" of the hoop you want to use, the design will not show up for your to pick and be able to stitch - but it will still show up when you look at the file on your computer.

thanks, but I don't have nor will I open a facebook account.  I would be in their group if I was. Its the only group for the Artistic software. Just wish the group would switch to mewe or io.

thanks again for the info (if I hadn't already stumble across the facebook group)

Thanks for the great info everyone. Yes, they do make the Dime hoop for the 550e.  It comes in three sizes (depending on machine) and fits machines 500E, 550e, Elna 830, 400e, 450e (from their website).  Do not like hoop rings / burns nor hooping bulky fabric. Link below.

Go to www.janome.com
Scroll to bottom of page. On right side there is a drop down menu called select country. Drop down this menu and scroll to top of it and select "global site". Once you get to global site, look for Artistic Digitizer v1.5 under "what's new". Click on it and it takes you to page that tells what is included in update and has a link to download. I was able to download mine from my software page, but I don't remember how I got there. Hope this helps. If you're on Facebook, the user group mentioned above is a great group and very helpful. Another helpful great Facebook group is Artistic Digitizer Help group- administered by Valora Letcher Hammond.

Re: Janome recommendation

MaryJoe---I have a 500e and once in a while I have the same problem with seeing the design file on the computer, but not being able to see it on the machine's screen when the USB stick is inserted. First, be sure that your design was placed in the EMBF folder, not the EMB file.    Design files must reside in the EMBF folder to be read by the machine. The next possibility is that the design itself is too large for the hoop that you have selected to use.  This may be just a single stitch that exceeds the capacity of the hoop. You may remedy this by rotating your design within the hoop so that every single stitch fits into the hoop. Or----you can choose the next larger hoop and open the design in that next larger hoop.  It would be a real help if the machine would sent an error code and tell you that something is amiss with your design/hoop size and/or the orientation of the design within the hoop. But it does not. Nor, does it tell you that the design file is not found in the EMBF file.  So, I have started thinking that when ever I might not be able to see a design on my screen, but I KNOW it is in my USB stick, I go to check to make sure it is in the EMBF folder, and that the design fits fully into the hoop I have chosen. So far, that has solved it every time for me.  At first, I wrote a note on a Post-It and stuck it near my machine to remind me,  and it soon became a regular habit if I cannot see my design on the machine's screen.  Good luck, I hope this solves your mystery.

Happy New Year to all!  And while not much will be that different when we wake up tomorrow morning, may 2021 develop into a better year than 2020 has been.

So here we are on the last day of the most challenging year most of us have ever experienced. Traditionally this is a time to make resolutions that will make things better. Just as traditionally, most of those resolutions are not kept very long. As we move into a new year, things are still very uncertain. I'm suggesting that we all make just one resolution, one that most members in this group have observed for most of their lives. Continue to lead by example, and

I have been asking DIME to create a hoop for us since the 12000 and it never happened. Sad that Brother seems to get all the attention when we love our Janome machines and prefer them over other brands. VIRGINIA

OOPS, I'm sorry just noticed Mah-jongg that you had already said you have the 550e machine.
I only have used the Monster Hoops at a Dime event we had at our shop. We only got to actually practice hooping with them, no embroidery because the size they brought wasn't the size that fit on our 500 machines.
So, what I can say for a fact is that the magnetism is incredibly powerful, can hurt you if you pinch yourself (!) and will surely hold the thickest of fabrics very securely.
I have a friend who embroiders with a Brother machine and she loves her Monster Hoop.
If Dime could make a Monster Hoop for our 15000 I would sure like to have one, but that won't ever happen.

Jim,

Thank you for your information. Although I've been sewing with Janome machines for several years, I've never changed my bobbin case. Can you tell me more about the yellow dot and red dot cases? I think I have only one that came with my 15000.

Thanks!

The hoops are only available for the 500 series of machines.
The hoops are very high quality and get great reviews.
