Annual service on 15k

Jo Smoker

I have my Horizon Memory Craft 15000 serviced annually.  This year I was asked if I wanted the embroidery unit serviced also.  Just wondering whether that is a good idea and if others have them serviced.  I have had no problems but I do a lot of embroidery and regular sewing so many hours are utilized.  Appreciate your opinion before spending and extra $50.00  unnecessarily?  Thanks

Re: automatic bobbin winder

I have the small sidewinder and the larger Sidewinder Plus that was branded by Simplicity and had a built in vertical thread holder for winding from cross wound thread without adding extra twist.  I really like both of them a lot.  Saves wear and tear on the machines and avoid having to unthread it to wind a bobbin.

I have an expensive metal bobbin winder, used for longarm and it was about $100.  I also have a SideWinder, less than $30.  My go to is the SideWinder.

Yes, I have the Side-winder by Singer. I love it. It runs on either batteries or with the included electrical cord. My first one lasted well over 15 years (I'm not sure exactly how long), and I just bought a replacement last month because the first one's electrical connection became wonky. I'm pretty sure you can get one at JoAnn's, but I ordered mine last month from Amazon because I needed it quickly. Although I have a 15000, I only use my Side-winder to wind bobbins.

Sidewinder, I think is what I got.  It's okay as a winder, don't remember what it cost but you can get them pretty much everywhere, but only used for winding long arm bobbins.  I buy Janome pre-wounds for the embroidery and only wind bobbins as needed.

Dime Monster Snap Hoop

Does anyone have the Dime Monster Snap Hoop for the 550e? If so, do you like it, worth the investment, or anything else you have to say about this hoop would be appreciated.

thanks & Happy New Year

Need to reinstall to version 3. I have installed cd 1.3. Janome is not responding.  Thanks in advance

Re: I really need some help

Start with the machine turned OFF. Next turn the hand wheel BACKWARD, a little bit, if you can. That should free the bobbin case. If it does not, just leave the bobbin case as it is. Next grab the hoop attaching bracket on the open embroidery arm and pull it back toward the machine. It's going to resist, just pull it slowly, but firmly. Once it's all the way back to the "parked" position you can close the arm. At that point leave the plate off and take the machine in for service. Good luck!

I really need some help

Joyce VanAtta

I was doing some free standing lace on my 15000 when my machine jammed up.
The thread had to be cut in order to get the hoop off the machine.
Thread was all wrapped around under the bobbin cover, and the bobbin
case has moved enough that I cannot get it out. The message on the screen says
raise needle bar slowly.  The needle plate will not go back on.  The embroidery
arm is open.  The machine has been turned off and back on and nothing happens
except the needle plate warning always comes up.  Can the embroidery arm be
removed while it is open, because I know it has to go to the shop.

What do I do now???

Re: Accutools S

Acutools S is a software program that goes onto your computer and allows you to edit all the designs within your sewing machine but on a larger screen. You can also send the files you edit and save with the changes to your Skyline S9 in 2 ways - using your WiFi which you need to set up so that the computer and sewing machine speak to each other or to a USB. I prefer the USB as it is always reliable.

You can also create your own stitches in “Stitch Creator” and that can be fun. As many stitches as there are, you might want to create a Christmas Tree or anything that you desire and where your imagination takes you. After all someone at one time came up with the stitches we have in our machines.

There is so much more - check out the little “?” in the upper right hand corner of the screen.

Load it up on your computer and “Play”.

Acutools is very similar to Horizon link Suite for the 15000. So if you see demos on Horizon link Suite you would be able find lots of usable info. On the janome sewing machine FB page and the classroom page I did several demos on the software. To find them go there and search Anne Grieco Hein.

You'll find acutools very handy. The manual is in the program when you open it click on the little blue question mark.

Further to Cat's reply what Acutools S can do I only use it for transferring embroidery designs to my S9 wirelessly.  I have a Janome Digitizing program so do not need it for other purposes.

If you’re new to machine embroidery you will need to use some type of software to get the most out of your embroidery machine. One great tool is the program that came with your machine, so yes, do install it.
It will enable you to print templates of the embroidery designs so that you can position the embroidery exactly where you want among many, many other useful and fun things. The help menu in the program will also so teach you a lot so read it. Have fun!

I don’t suppose you have to install Accutools but I am not sure why you wouldn’t want to have it available. I don’t have the S9 but I have two other models including the 15000, which is WiFi...as is the S9. I use the software for the 15000 to wirelessly transfer designs to my 15000...very handy!!!  The name of the software for the 15000 is different than for the S9, but I assume you can do embroidery layout/composition, combine designs, re-sizing...editing that you could also do at the console (screen) of your S9, but perhaps more comfortably on a laptop while watching a movie. I’d recommend installing it, checking out what the software can do, then decide if you want to keep/use it.

I just googled it. It is the software for the S9. You would definitely need to install it. Just google the information and it gives you good instructions.I don’t have the S9, so 5a5 is what i had todo to answer your question.
The internet is a great source of information, you can find anything you want. Give it a try.

I cannot find an answer for what, exactly, Accutools S9 is. What is it for? What if I don’t install it? What if I do?
