Re: Upgrade Horizon Link

Thank you, Jim. I contacted Janome in NJ. Their phones are ‘out’ probably due to the snow storm in the NE, but recording suggesting emailing them, which I did. I received an email response within an hour with download link. So, all is well.
Thanks,
Carole

The V3 update to HLS is only available as a download using a link emailed by Janome. If you don't save that downloaded file, you cannot update after a reinstall. Contact Janome Tech Support through the website and tell them what happened. I'm sure they get this request often, and can send you a new link.

I have 15000 V.3 when I bought it 2 years ago.  When I recently updated my PC to Win10 from Win8,  HLS was uninstalled and had to be reinstalled.  The original CD (V1) was used so PC has only V1 installed and 15000 has 3.0.   Right now none of my designs can be opened in HL--message says "HL is not responding".   I am having to use the designs on my back up thumb drives .  I'm assuming it's because the computer does not have the same Version of HLS.  How do I update PC to V3?
Thanks,
Carole

Note stitch number you are on.  Remove hoop.  Turn machine off for a couple of minutes.  Turn back on.  Arm will move, might make a terrible noise, but will be calibrated correctly.

In the Foot Book the QR foot is a Ruler foot and PD-H is an Open Toe Darning foot.

I've found these feet and stitch plate for Janome 15000 and I don't know what they are for.  The feet are QR, &  PD-H.  The plate has 3 holes and I'm not sure what this is for.  I have a single hole plate, an HD plate, and another plate with one large opening.  Guess I need to use my Janome more often. As for the stitch plate, it is a straight stitch plate that you can adjust your needle to go to any of the 3 holes.

You can order Hatch through John Deer for special extras and I think it's on sale now for $799.

You can keep both Hatch and MBX5 on your computer.   Virginia.

It should run on Mac but you’ll still need windows, you’ll need minimum 8GB of memory 16GB recommended.  It should recognise your designs and any you’ve digitised as a .EMB.  Check on the Wilcom website and if on Facebook check out John Deers Facebook pages there’s quite a good community and his YouTube channel lots of free videos.  I use MBX 5.5 on a PC I used V5 as well.  I needed 16GB to use 5.5 and Hatch 2 is similar in fact there isn’t much difference, no Corel draw in Hatch but does work with it as an external program. On a Mac you might need more memory for windows a parallels to work as well as hatch

Hatch software question

Caroline Wright

I had been running Digitizer MBX5 on my Mac with Parallels running Windows.  This has worked well for years but recently my hard drive crashed and I can't get the software reinstalled.
I'm thinking about trying Hatch.  Will it work on a Mac without Windows and will it recognize embroidery files that I already own?  Also, what is the price if anyone knows.

thanks
Caroline

Needle fell out while embroidering. Didn't break. Just stopped the bobbin case from moving. No damage to bobbin case. Now it's out of calibration. Book does not say how to recalibrate it. Any help would be appreciated. Xmas gifts are on hold till I fix/solve this.

thanks

I use to be able to interchange too if the design was in a different folder but for some reason this usb will no longer "do" that for me. Seems she no longer wants to play on my 12000. She's been a good usb over the years. :)

Re: Oiling my 500e

I have found that for some reason, oiling the 500e is one of those tasks where the hesitancy and dread of doing it is vastly out of proportion to the actual task itself.

I had to oil mine the other day after making a bunch of pet-friendly felt Christmas ornaments for my mom and some holiday themed masks.   Before doing it, I was whining about it to my poor husband and actually went so far as to price a replacement machine of a different brand that would not need oiling at my LQS.  Then I actually went through the oiling process and was irritated at myself for making such a big deal about it...again.

Actually the 500e and the S9 do the embroidery file structure exactly like the 15000, except the 500e does not create a parallel ORD folder on the USB like the 15000 and S9 do.

I can actually use the USB dives interchangeably between the 3 machines.

That's normal. ALL designs MUST be in a folder, which is itself inside the EMB folder. A design folder may contain ONLY designs, not other folders. It's a frustrating system, because it works like Windows almostbut not quite! Most classes just tell everyone to put designs in the EmbF folder for simplicity, but it's perfectly acceptable to have other folders as long as they reside in EMB. I don't have an S9 or 500e, so I don't know how those machines structure a USB drive.
