My machine came with the biggest hoop size of 7.9 x 11.     Will it take the 7.9 x 14 if I ordered the larger hoop?     Thanks.

My band new 14000 arrived yesterday and when turning it on the screen showed a yellow triangle with the message Raise Needle bar slowly.  The hand wheel will not turn and none of the buttons on the machine will work.  The needle is down in the opening of the plate.  I did find out the needle bar will move left to right but not up and down.  Jim, I did manage to get the plate up enough to remove the bobbin case but the wheel still did not turn.  Any other ideas?   Has anyone else experienced this and what was the problem?  Any help is appreciated.  I just want to be able to use my new machine.

Thanks,
Sandy

HI VICKI,  DO YOU HAVE THE 15000 ? THERE IS AN AMAZING VIDEO FROM THE APP STORE THAT JIM & HIS WIFE  MADE FOR THAT MACHINE . I DO NOT KNOW OF OTHER APPS FOR OTHER JANOME MACHINES...MAYBE SOMEONE DOES.  MY I PAD HAS IT, SO IT'S NICE & ENLARGED COMPARED TO MY PHONE.  I CAN LOOK UP IDEAS ON STITCHES   ETC. Another quirk with Apple storage is that, by default I believe, each device is set to back up every single app.  I couldn't understand how I used up the 5GB on my phone after I how offloaded my photos.  It turns out there was a backup of apps that I rarely used.  It all adds up and quickly too.

Having more than one Apple ID can cause an unbelievable amount of frustration. Apple, in their dubious, infinite wisdom, assumes that nobody would ever have more than one, yet they make it ridiculously easy to get multiples. There is no provision to “merge” two Apple IDs, and if you buy apps using more than one, you can’t use them unless you are logged in with the right ID. The one thing you can do to share the same iCloud storage is to set up each ID with Family Sharing. This site explains how to set it up:
https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT201084

There is, of course, a gotcha. Apple gives you 5GB for free. With multiple accounts sharing it, it fills up quickly. You can get 200GB for $3/month, and 2TB for $10/month. If you keep photos there it fills up really fast.

On the same subject...

I did not know this could be done when I got my iPhone, so now, my iPhone shares backup iCloud storage space with the Janome iPad Air that came with my 15000...and I already had an iPad I had planned to use when I got a 15000.  When I got the iPads, I just used my existing Apple ID from when I had an Apple 5s (briefly) several years earlier...if that makes sense.

Is it possible to 'move' the iPads to a 'new' Apple ID account now, so they can sync together and share the same iCloud storage, and use my iPhone on the original Apple ID...and get the apps on both that will work on both (FootBook, ThreadBook, AcuDesign, etc.?

Thanks, Jim.  As my husband has my old ipad and all the apps are on it, it should not be a problem.  He probably won't even care if I leave them on that ipad as they haven't bothered him in the several months that he's been using it (and that I've been without).  I've been spending my time trying to clean up the mess I made with embroidery files when I first got my 15000 machine.  Even though it's all organized, I somehow thought that it would be a good idea to save every "freebee" that came my way.  Again, what a mess.  I've deleted so much and I'm so tired of saying, "what was I thinking?"   Thanks again. Apple has allowed for this, but it’s not at all obvious. When you get the new iPad set it up with the Apple ID you want to use for iCloud. Then open Settings and tap the icon at the top with your picture. On that page tap iTunes and App Store. There you can enter the Apple ID for your apps. That will allow the apps you purchased from that ID to be used. For files and data you will need to restore the backup that I hope you made of the old iPad. Do that before you set up the new one, and you’ll have the option to restore from the old one when you set up the new one.

Question about setting up a new ipad

Ceil J

I’m getting a new ipad and I want it to have its own cloud storage. The ipad that has all the Janome/Jim apps on it is now used by my husband and that account has his iphone and the ipad on it. I have an iphone with a separate account. Again, I’d like the new ipad to have its own account but don’t know how to achieve this and still get all the apps that are under the old account. Hope this makes sense. So my questions are: How can I transfer the files which might be under my old account and how can I set things up so the new ipad is on its own? Thanks. (I used to be able to do things like this easily, but my brain is no longer cooperating most days.) :) Ceil

If you have your machine serviced every year or two, no it's not necessary. In 25 years of servicing machines I only encountered two that had a wick dried out enough to cause a bind resulting in screeching. I had MANY though from owners so vigilant about cleaning that they pulled the wick completely out, thinking it was lint. Putting it back is out of the question - easier to put toothpaste back in the tube! So in summary, if you put ONE DROP on the wick now and again, no harm, couldn't hurt. If you NEVER put oil on the wick, but you do keep your machine clean and get it serviced once in a while, that's fine too.

thank you. I thought I may have missed something.

Question, is it stil necessary to put a drop of oil on the wick below the bobbin?

thanks Sharon

Not that I'm aware of. Sometimes we have "dry spells" when everyone is busy sewing and there isn't anything to post.
