Marking your quilt for edge to edge quilting using acufil

Barbara Gallentine

I am using hearts templet and will require 25 hoopings for a baby quilt.  I marked the middle where I would embroidery the first one but how do I mark the quilt for the rest of them?  I know it must be simple but I am at a loss.  Thanks for any help.

I bought 2 yards of this to cover my Big Board and it works very well. You can get it in a lighter weight poplin for a little less.

Yes, Valora it was & I turned the cutter off & was able to finish it  Thanks

Thank you Heather that was the problem, but I was able to fudge it & it worked out fine.  I turned the cutter off & went back over the problem area very carefully.  Yes, and so glad it was not my machine.

Pressure on presser foot

Jeanne

I am getting near constant “beeping” to make sure the correct foot is attached.  I’m using “A” and “O” and stitching is just fine.  I have gone into Settings as Jim previously suggested and adjusted pressure foot to plus 1, plus 2 and plus 3 with no success.  Then I started going negative — still no success.  Is there anything else I can do before I take the machine (12000) in for professional adjustment?  I can’t figure out why this started happening so frequently.

Shirley:  Our 9 mm machines will not recognize an embroidery stitch that is wider than 9mm as a stitch and will treat it as a color stop.  This can happen if you enlarge a design or I have had it happen when converting a design from the original to a different format.  A great test would be to take your design and rename it “so you don’t wreck the original”.  Decrease the size by 20%.  Stitch out the area where it was cutting the stitches instead of sewing them.  You can just advance the design to the color you want and don’t waste time and thread stitching out the whole thing.  If this fixes your problem then you have a NEW problem.  What to do with the original design so those stitches are no wider than 9mm.  I can do this in my software but don’t know what you use so can’t advise.  Good luck ...... hope this is your problem as it’s better than a mechanical one.
Hugs
Heather

Was it doing a wide satin stitch? It might have thought that stitch was a jump stitch.  If it was a wide satin then turn off the cutter for that object.

Thank you Jim,  I will give it a try  Shirley

Cutting the thread involves several separate operations all initiated by software. It's extremely unlikely that this is a malfunction. In the past I have seen this happen when a design has a lot of stitches, typically satin, that are longer than 1.27cm (about 1/2"). The machine treats them as jumps, and if cutting jump stitches is turned on it will do exactly what your machine is doing. Turn off jump cutting and the problem should go away.

Re: Permanently change a Default on Skyline 7?

Yes, you can permanently change the default setting of the presser foot pressure.
Use the Settings tab.
Ordinary Sewing functions,
On page 4 you will find the adjustment for the presser foot pressure.
Make sure you select OK before leaving the screen to save your setting.

Re: Janome 11,000 my friend’s machine

When we sold the 11000 this came up a lot. It's because over time the knee lift mechanism shifts slightly causing the foot height sensor to stick. I wasted a lot of time trying to solve the problem by adjusting the sensor until another dealer advised me that making a SLIGHT adjustment to the knee lift was the way to fix it. Your friend can't do this, of course, but she may be able to get around the problem by putting in the knee lift lever and working it back and forth a few times before turning on the machine. Ultimately a dealer will have to see it to permanently fix the problem.

Sounds like either the power supply, a sensor or a main board.  Some of these things are no longer available on an 11000 She will have to take it to a dealer

One-Inch Grid for Ironing Table Cover

All --

I have an old table (30" x 72") that I use to iron on while sewing.  I know you can purchase VERY expensive canvas covers for drapery workroom tables, but I don't want to invest that much, especially since my table is considerably smaller than a workroom table.  Does anyone know where I could buy cheaper cotton or duck fabric with a 1-inch grid? The grid does not have to be numbered, although that would be great.

Thanks.

If you look in the files section of this group under Horizon Link Software the different subjects are listed. I copied them and had it printed.   Worth the time, Claire S.

If you have the Favorite Stitch Adjustment turned "on", you can set the foot pressure for each stitch individually. The link shows the manual page with the directions for this. I don't know of a way to change the factory default settings other than to ask your dealer to adjust it when it's in for service.
