Hi Jane. We do have snow and it seems like it’s here to stay. I grew up in Brampton and I don’t remember getting snow before the end of the month. We will be careful driving. The 401 can be treacherous during bad weather.

The seminar nary is at janome’s New training centre. I think I saw a post here a couple of months ago and then a Janome blog post. We have to bring all our stuff for our 15k’s and it is machine specific.

I really need need some hands on help and Nova is my dealer and you have all the locations near you.

Re: threadBook

Thanks for asking Mary! Threadbook is not related to any particular machine, just thread. It provides a library of over 30,000 threads of various types, including embroidery floss. It allows you to match pretty much anything to anything. To get it:

Open the App Store on you iPhone, iPad, or iPod Touch.
Search for "Threadbook". It's the only app that will come up.
Tap on the app to view more information or to purchase.

Hi, I am from Cambridge Ont and I have missed the posts about this seminar in Oakville so would you please tell me about it. By the way we have about six or more inches of snow here and it is still snowing. I know you have none in Ottawa but Oakville usually gets pretty much the same as we do. I am about an hour and a quarter to get to Oakville.
Just be careful driving on Thursday.

While VMware Fusion is marvelous for supporting Windows on Macs of all kinds, it can present a challenge to sort out where things are. There are a couple of ways to deal with this, both utilizing the Fusion concept of Shared folders. While running Windows on your Mac, click on the Virtual Machine menu and pick Sharing -> Sharing Settings. The top half of this menu allows you to map folders on your Mac so they are directly available in Windows. Tick the Enable Shared Folders box\ and then the plus button below to choose folders to add. You can name each folder however you like. In Windows they are accessed using drive Z, for example Z:\Embroidery Designs. A second option is to check one or more folders in the Mirrored Folders section of the settings. When you do this, the checked folder is always the one on the Mac, even if you open it in Windows. This option works best if you choose it right from the start, immediately after setting up your virtual machine. Once you have started putting things in the Windows Library -> Documents, for example, enabling the mirror option for Documents will cause only the Mac documents to be visible in Library -> Documents.

Generally I like to keep everything in the Mac universe, using the Sharing options to access it from Windows. Of course I spend 98% of my dwindling time on this earth on the Mac, so that works best for me. Answering this has exhausted me, so I'm going to grab my shawl and drag myself to the rocking chair to rest.

Hi Jim, I'm running MBX 5.5 through VMWare Fusion on my macbook Air. I can with some effort find my design files which i am storing in dropbox. Dropbox was installed on my Mac through the Apple side. I have a link on my windows desktop that lets me get to my shared drive on my Mac folder tree.

I've been trying to use Horizon Link to update my screensaver on my 15K but am unable to access photos even on my desktop (Mac) which show on my Windows desktop. Are they ghosts?

I am going to the Janome seminar this week and know that I have to be able to get at everything HL in order to participate in that part of the seminar. I can watch and hopefully learn something if need be.  HL is working otherwise on my Windows. I think I even have the newest version working since my 15K was upgraded to the quilt edition.

Any suggestions? I would also like to thank you again for spending your twilight retirement years helping us. My dealer is 6 hours away. He is great but a long distance relationship is not without it's problems.

BTW, I installed VMWare using your wonderful guide on switching to a mac. Thank you, thank you, thank you.

Great Snow people quilt!

I use fusible Polymesh under quilt labels and under T-shirts, especially the really lite weight ones. It does a good job of supporting the embroidery stitches.

Sample file for Janome RE36b hoop

Mattes

Hi all!

Janome has introduced the large hoop RE36b with their MC550e embroidery machine. People are asking me to support this hoop with StitchBuddy, an embroidery editor for macOS and iOS.

Unfortunately I couldn‘t investigate any sample file to learn about the hoop‘s internal code, yet. Has anybody a sample JEF file using the RE36b hoop, and is willing to send it to info(at)stitchbuddy(dot)de?

Any help is appreciated, Mattes

Hi Dianne & other 15000 owners. Why didn't  JANOME  make TWO separate instruction books for such a technical & expensive machine ?
One is really  needed for  Embroidery sewing by itself   using the furnished i Pad  &  all using  the newer electronics .
Maybe Jim & Dianne can answer this question & publish a book for those that are afraid or frustrated  by this side of the machine..
Their  JAMONE APP is wonderful  !
Thanks, for that ,Jim & Diane.

On the 15000, you load the design from the inbuilt library or from a USB ( you might want to edit it or change it, add designs to it) go into edit.  Edit the design if need be, on the right of the edit screen there’s several icons, press the down arrow beneath them until you see a folder, press that, and follow the prompts to name it etc and where it’s to be saved.  Select whichever USB port that’s needed.  You could do similar to save to Horizon Link if cable attached

Pat -

When the touch to finish or replace is available (such as now), I do like it very much. However, a) it’s not available on all screens and b) Apple in all its wisdom often suggests words that have no relevance to what I’m trying to say.

Thanks for any and all suggestions. They just may prevent my chucking this device out the window.

Re  the autocorrect to something you want to "fix" when typing see the screenshot below.  In the area just above your keyboard it shows, on the left, what you typed, then two of apple's "corrections."  If you want what you typed, just tap on the word you wanted (above the keyboard).  Otherwise, the word in the center will be used (which can be handy since in my case it knew which word I really wanted)  unless you tap on the third word, the one on the right.  If you tap on any of the three words, you can then correct as desired.  Don’t forget, holding the space bar allows you to move the cursor to exactly where you want!  That was a recently added nifty thing!
Hope this helps.

Jim —

You describe the sleep/home button technique exactly how it works. If my nails are too short, I can’t press the sleep button at all, as it is below the case.  I don’t have an IPad pencil, but perhaps I should invest. Black Friday is right around the corner.

I tried the three-finger pinch technique another 20 or so times. Maybe if I do my update to the newest version, it will work.

If by "capture" you mean take a screen shot, there are two ways that I use:

  • Press the SLEEP and HOME buttons at the same time. This usually works, but if the iPad is in a case (all of mine are) the SLEEP button is usually hard to push and you wind up turning off the screen. Then you have to turn it back on, touch ID, face ID, or pass code, and try again. Frustrating!
  • If you have an Apple Pencil (iPad Pro, and 2019 iPad Mini) put the tip of the pencil in the lower left corner, just outside the display. Do a short swipe diagonally with the pencil toward the top right corner and it will snap a picture of the screen. I now use this exclusively.

Dianne.. When saving a File you have to save it in EMBF folder. If you don't
your 12000 machine will not see it...
Good Luck and let me know if that works...
