Did they replace the sensor? I think Janome needs a recall on these sensors.

Hello, I am new to this site and find it very interesting. The words pressure sensor caught my eye. My 12000 is about 4 years old. Bought it new. about 18 months I was having so many "thread broke, make sure you got the correct foot, pressure foot. I was about to "chunk it". I took it in to the dealer. Back to me in about a week. 15 days later my hubby is trying to stop me from yelling at the machine and almost loudly calling it names. Back to the shop. I do a test while at the shop. Guess what--same old----problem. Found out the pressure point is right in the center of the the foot plate. You can see a straight rod in the center of the hole. He exchanged it out.... I did my happy dance wet home and it has not been in the shop except annual cleaning. i AM SO CAREFUL ABOUT NOT PRESSING THAT PART--TREAT IT LIKE AN EG.
I would like to be his assistant and work on these things but----I need to learn how to operate the machine and make beautiful embroidery. LONG...SORRy,

I too have had it for around 6 years and have had trouble since the day I bought it home. I have put it aside because I don’t want to deal with it anymore. I have a mc10000 and have never had any issues that’s what made me want the mc12000   I just don’t know what to do anymore. I think I am going to try trading it in

I see that I am not the only one who is having problems with the MC 12000 saying to make sure I have the right foot attached.  This happens every couple of stitches and I have had it cleaned, and in the shop at least 5 - 6 times and I am having no success with it.  I am really disappointed with this machine.

That’s a shame.  Find a dealer that really knows his stuff. If you’re ANYwhere near New Orleans, David at All About Sewing is amazing and can fix anything on a Janome!

I've had that same problem.  However, I've noticed that with mine, it only happens when I use a fine thread.  I like to do my piecing with Superior Thread's So Fine, but my machine just won't handle the thin thread very well.  When I go back to regular 40 wt, the message stops popping up.

I just got mine back for the same intermittent problem, and then finally wouldn't pass it's checklist at startup. The dealer/tech adjusted and cleaned the sensor, said it was sticking. I said I was careful about brush dusting those pins too when cleaning the bobbin area, and he said it's better to just puff air rather than brush, which could push debris into it.

I’ve had a 12000 for several years, and never had an issue with it.  It’s been a great machine, lots of happy hours stitching.  My only thought is as someone has said its the needle plate, is there any fluff in the sensor top right?  Have you changed the needle plate and tried that to see if it still throws up the error message?  Have you tried it at the dealers when you collect it, or always wait till you get home to test it?  Or is it ok on getting home and then after a while starts again?  If so, is it after changing something like the plate or a needle or a setting?

Re: trying to install MBX 5.5 from MBX 5

If you can find your serial number for mbx 5.0
You can use any 5.0 cd just inputting your number but you do have to be online!!to install!
Make sure your security is turned off or make sure a security program had not quarantined mbx 5.0!’
Avast actually did that to my mbx program!!
Had to uninstall avast to be able to get to my program!!
Terri at tech support Janome is awesome and very helpful!
Hope this helps!!

I am having the same problem.  I have had it in the shop 5 - 6 times and it keeps coming back with the same problem.  I have had it cleaned and everything.  When I picked it up today at the shop I ran into another person who is experiencing the same problem and she told me that her friend is having the same problem.  This machine seems to have problems.  Very frustrated.
