Ceil, when Jim mentioned Artistic I don't believe he meant the Janome Artistic program but the Wilcom Bernina program, it's almost identical to Hatch and MBX V5, my apologies Jim if you were referring to the revamp of the Artistic Sewing Suite which is only marginally better than the old version, and I really do mean marginally. Your dealer was right to caution you by saying hold off for a while, given the time cycle between launches of Wilcom/Janome software and Wilcom's own domestic software Hatch, the latter being a really viable alternative to MBX both in price and excellent support. Take a look again in the Autumn or New Year, the period Janome Tokyo chooses to launch any new versions of their flag ship software which is MBX.

Thanks, Jim.  It's so very hard to compare different programs.  Understandably, those who have them don't have that as their focus and it's usually, from what I've seen, not in the interest of the companies to do so as they each seem to have their strengths and weaknesses.  I only lasted 5 days trying out Embird but I liked Hatch which seems to be very similar to MBX.  My dealer told me to hold off for now on the new Janome software and I'm not in a rush although it must be a year now that I've been trying to decide.  Thanks again.

Question about Jim's statement that Embrilliance modules are not true digitizers.  I'm still on the fence about a program and will eventually maybe want to do some digitizing in the future.  I had been leaning towards the Embrilliance line and thought that they had digitizer modules.  Please clarify.  Thank you.

Worth looking at the different levels of the Hatch Products and take a look at the 30 day trial.
Hatch Basic - Hatch Customizer - Hatch Creator - Hatch Digitizer
Scroll down to the comparison chart re what each (upgradable) package includes.

I agree with Embrilliance you need modules to do each technique and it can become pricey.  Upgrading to Ver 5 is probably the best bet however you can also look into Hatch.

Your least expensive option to get a true digitizer would be to upgrade what you have to MBX 5. It's still pricey, but it's the best program out there for the home market. The next best option would be one or more modules of Embrilliance. Their products are not true digitizers, but they do have a lot of options.

Thanks Jim, I may not bother to put it on the new computer. I have it on my big desk top and hopefully it will not die in the next few years. I don't do very much digitizing anymore, but it is nice to have in case I do want to do something. Can you recommend a different program for digitizing that does not cost an arm and a leg? I do have embird but only have ever used the iconizer and some of the resizing features. I am just getting too old to put a lot of money into software.
Thanks again,

No doubt your new computer came with Windows 10. That alone could be a problem with Digitizer Pro/MB, which was already in twilight when Windows 8 came out. It all comes down to what version you have on your Digitizer DVD. After installing it you will need to install one or more updates before attempting to use it:

If version 1.0 you need to install this first:  DigitizerPro/MB Version 2.0K
Next you need this:  DigitizerJr Version 3.0L Update
You will also probably need this:  OS compatibility kit for Digitizer MBX Version 4.5/4.0, even though it is listed as being for MBX.
After all that it may not work. According to this document your Digitizer is not supported for Windows 8, let alone 10.
Good luck!

Re: To Foot Book app

Jim Stutsman

You can check for FootBook in the App Store: https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/footbook/id455553678?mt=8
If you have it, just tap the cloud icon to install it on your iPad. If you don't have it, you can purchase it there. However you cannot install it on your Android phone. No app from the Apple App Store can be download or otherwise installed on an Android phone. As we have mentioned many times in the past, we do not have the resources to produce Android versions of our apps. If we won the lottery I might consider it, but I guess we'd have to start buying tickets to do that.

Jim,  I have the 15000 app & love it.  I thought I had the Foot Book but cannot find it so I must not have it. Update -
The Machine is back from the service centre and behaving as it should.

- New replacement standard bobbin case (+ bought a spare which was calibrated for a fine thread that I use for working on fine fabrics )
- Serviced
- Needle bar replaced under warranty
There was no apparent damage on the original needlebar and nothing apparently untoward with the needle slot or  however the slot was a smidge tight.  The replacement is fine.

Thanks again for the input.

This has probably been addressed before, but, I've been unable to find it.

I was going to use my AcuFil program for the first time (used it once several years ago on the 11K) on my 15K.

When I open the program, I can't find/see a way to change the size from mm to inches.

Hoping someone can help.  TIA  Dottie in Texas

Thank you Cynthia! After looking at your blog I just remembered that we communicated via email last year about purchasing 15000's.
Yes, getting good curves is a challenge in Stitch Composer. I've discovered that sometimes you have to make the stitch pattern longer than you think you need it in order to get the right proportions and curves. For example if I'm using a background image of a stitch I stretch it out longer than it's original size.

Your stitches are absolutely gorgeous!!  I have been playing also and I love this program.  I like to digitize, so it kind of throws me when I can't get an exact curve in the program.  Just do my best!
