Re: Speaking of work arounds...

I have 2 computers. One running Windows 10 the other Windows 7.  My Windows 10 is running my Version 5 software fine.  Ever since the update to Windows 8 and lower I get 2 screens on my Windows 7 When trying to open Version 5  One says exception violation the other one opens fine and the software works.  Has anyone had this issue.  I plan to contact Janome tomorrow.

Ceil, I just thought of something - I’m assuming that you are using Horizon Link Suite that goes with the 15000. If that is the case and you upgraded your 15000, you should have received a NEW link from Janome America to get HLS up to the current version. I don’t think that they put this update onto the website as each individual owner should have received the link when they had the upgrade completed at their dealer’s. If you deleted this link contact your dealer and they should be able to help you through this. That is IF HLS is the problem that is making your computer not accept those other programs.

Well, I did get a reply from that site.  They wrote, "  we are in a different country not the United States. You can just email Janome.com and they will suggest where to pick up locally for you."  I replied that some people in Canada were asking that question too but they haven't replied back.  So, if any of you are in Canada, maybe you can send them an email and they'll find out. There's also an 800 number.

I have the 5x7" hoop. I had to buy it from my dealer...comes in very handy....in fact I just got done embroidering two snowball faces. Worked great!

Thank you, Cheryl.  I did receive the link and updated the HL.  It seems the problem is/was that my HL was set to wi-fi as a startup point instead of USB.  When I set it to USB and closed it, then opened it.  All worked well.  I've tried it a few times since and that seems to have fixed the problem.  I'll have to see what happens when I use wi-fi (as I always do) again to send a design to the machine.  If it gets stuck on wi-fi again, it may be that there was something wrong with my copy of the update.  If not, it could be one of those gremlins :)
Thank you!

Also mentioned here: https://www.janomeflyer.com/elna-expressive-920 which compares the 15000 and the Elna machine that is perhaps the 14000.  I sent an email to the CA store that has this listing to see if they know anything about it.  Will let you know if I hear from them.

I would like a smaller size hoop as well...LOL

I use the RE18 (5x7) hoop a lot more than the SQ14 hoop because I don't see any stabilizer 'savings' to speak of with the SQ14 over the RE18, and the RE18 doesn't have a possible hooping misalignment issue like the SQ14 can have with the inner hoop being able to minutely 'shift' inside the outer hoop so that the arrows 'might' not line up and I 'might' not see that they didn't with the arrows being hidden under stabilizer/fabric.

Janome's "Horizon Quilt Maker Memory Craft 15000" web page shows an "Optional" hoop called "FH 100 x 100" and I have searched for it but have never been able to find one to purchase.  See "Available Hoops" near bottom of links...you will have to 'hover' over (with the mouse) or click in the field on the Janome website to see it, since it falls below the field's available '2 line' display area:

    http://janome.com/en/machines/embroidery/qm-mc15000/

...The FH 100 x 100 was shown on the previous Janome Horizon Memory Craft 15000 website, too:

    https://www.janomeflyer.com/janome-memory-craft-15000

...and even shown as an "available hoop" for the 14000 on Janome's website:

    https://www.janome.com/en/machines/embroidery/hmc14000/

...however, the FH 100 x 100 hoop is not shown as being an "Available Hoop" on Janome's 12000 website:

    http://janome.com/en/machines/embroidery/horizon-memory-craft-12000/

I had tried to post a question on this group about the FH 100 x 100 hoop and where to get it quite some time ago, but Yahoo being, well, Yahoo, my post never showed up that I ever saw...LOL

I agree with you.  Have asked my dealer why the machine does not have it.
 Hopefully Janome is listening.

I wish i had a hoop smaller than the sq14 but larger than fa10 to do tab shirts n childrens smaller clothes.
It is hard to hoop the big border around the sq14.  I had the 10k and loved the square 5x5 hoop.  Any suggestions? Thanks  Mary

The 12,000 and the 15,000 does not have a 5x7 hoop however there is a 5x7 available for both of those machines.  You can order it from your dealer or check the on line sites.

Mary Ann, I would love to hear more about spray on stabilizer... how you mix it and how you use it. Thanks, Karen.

I rarely hoop my fabric. Instead I hoop my stabilizer and use the tracing stitch to tack the fabric to the stabilizer. This allows me to be able to embroider on smaller areas. Would this help your situation?

Re: Speaking of work arounds... HorizonLink

Glad it worked for you Cas.  As to HorizonLink not opening when you click on a design, yes your other program has taken this function over.  I don’t have that program so I can’t you with that but perhaps the developer has a fix.

Donna,
Thank you so much!!!! It worked.  Mine was set to wi-fi so I changed it to USB, closed the program, opened it again and it works as it once did!  Such a simple solution and one to remember.
Thank you so very much!

HI guys.
If you open HL..and go to designs>navigate to your design(s) folder you can see and select any jef, jpx, jef+ designs. you don't need any other program. HL will open up thumbnails of the designs on your computer or usb or external hard drive. All you  have to make sure before you go there that you have the correct size of hoop selected.. a no brainer would be open the largest hoop and then change as needed after seeing design and what hoop it will fit in.

Thanks Donna,
I just did that. I did not get “not responding”.  Yay!!

It still won’t automatically open an embroidery design.  I must click on the top left button again, then open, and go look for it for the file in the folder.  The way it used to work is I would click on the file in my folder on the PC.  I can see the design because of Sew Iconz.  It would open HL and I would be looking at the design.

I think in my case there is something wrong with the path using Sew Iconz.  I contacted them before and reinstalled it a few times because it ended up opening HL no matter what file I clicked on.  Now, at least HL opens up.  It just doesn’t finishing opening up the file.

I installed a trial version of SewIconz and it wreaked my ability to view designs in my Horizon Link and in MBX. It was quite a time getting them to come back and took Janome support to accomplish it. We had to completely uninstall the SewIconz program to do so. Maybe if you just uninstall it you can get the functions back, on my computer it took more than that. I know that other software programs don't cause trouble with the icon functions but my experience is that this particular program is buggy.

That Windows 7 computer was sitting for a while.  I installed a copy of HL then updated it and found it had the problem.  I'm in the process of giving it a major overhaul as it hasn't been used for almost 2 years.  It does keep updating so I think I'll just have to wait to see what I can figure out and see if it's the same issue.  I also installed Thumbnailer on it before I realized it had the same problem as the Windows 10 computer.  I may just reinstall all it's software and start over with that one but yes, to me it points to the HL update.  Maybe Janome can send us a new version, corrupt file, perhaps?
