Re: 15000 upgrade

This topic got on with the threader issue because I was not able to start a new topic. My dealer has the same problem with the knee lifter (the thing that raises the presser foot with your knee). We can not reach it comfortably without stretching,  so she asked me to see if any of you have any tricks/suggestions.

By the way, Jim, she sings your praises and is telling all her customers how informative your apps are.

I'm not quite sure how this topic got into this thread but as for the presser foot lifter being in an odd place. Have you tried the knee lifter? It sounds like that is what you are looking for "an extra hand" I used to use it all the time but now that I have my machine on top of my sewing table (for embroidery) and not inside sometimes I just have to use the button or reach behind.

The HLS link should be instant when the dealer registers you. I waited two weeks before mentioning it to rep and she admitted she was not sure the original went through...some problems! She registered me while I was at store and the link came through then.

I gave up using mine because it’s so hard to reach.  Some people put a pool noodle on it.  I attached a board with a pad to it, but this won’t work with the desk the machine is in now.

Thanks, Jim, for such good maintenance on the apps. They are such good assets for us. I love my FootBook and 15000 app, even tho I’m selling my 15000 now, I still can use the apps for my other Janome’s.
I really appreciate your and your lovely wife’s dedication to making all of our Janome lives better!

No you are not. Mine was fine before the upgrade and is not working so well now. The dealer did ask if I was using Aurifil thread (which I do) and suggested I take the spool cap (holds the spool on the spindle) off while threading then put it back on to sew. I also have to raise the needle manually to get the threader to work.

I just saw pics by Sewinggin.  Another bag, it’s so pretty!  What pattern is that?

Btw  please my crooked sewing on the wallet.  I ruined my strategical use of the gold strip found along a yard of cork by sewing a crooked line right through it,  LOL!  Oh well, the wallet is hidden inside the purse.

Thank you Estelle.  I love learning from other Janome users too, so share tips when I can think of them.

Thank you so much for maintaining the Foot Book program. It keeps me sane as to which foot does what, and how to use it!

We have just uploaded 5 new videos for the My 15000 app. They apply to the new feet provided in the Quilt Maker Memory Craft 15000 Accessory Upgrade Kit. They should appear in your app automatically within 24 hours. You can also tap "Settings" at the bottom of the screen, and then tap the "Check for New Videos" button. More videos will be added for the updated software, but with the pressure of the holidays it may be a few weeks.

Once all of the videos are complete we will be doing an update to the app to add an important new feature. That update will require iOS 10 or later. Those of you who got the free iPad with your machine may be stuck at iOS 9. This is the highest version supported for iPad 2, iPad 3, iPad 4, iPad Mini, and iPad Mini 2. As we add new videos the older iPads will still get them, but there will be no more app features added for those models.

These videos will also appear in FootBook, although we are doing an app update at the same time. That will take a few days as it waits for Apple to approve it.

Thanks everyone for your patience as we work through the backlog!

Re: Needle threader

Jim Stutsman

From the number of replies to this post, it appears that this issue is not that unusual. There are a couple of factors that may be involved.

1. The "Gold Standard" for machine servicing has always been a new needle, size 14. That's fine, BUT the eye of a 14 needle is larger than a size 11, or even 12. If the threader is adjusted to work with a 14 there is a chance that it will not work on 11 or 12, due to the smaller eye on those needles. Adjusting the threader for a size 11 is a little more fiddly, but if it works on 11 it will work on all larger sizes. Ask the dealer to please adjust it using a new size 11 (and provide one just in case).

2. After updating the machine to V3 there are now two separate adjustment procedures, labeled "OLD" and "NEW". Many dealers have been using the NEW procedure, assuming that it's a NEW part and a NEW version. This is incorrect. The NEW procedure is for machines that were manufactured as Quilt Maker models in the factory, not upgraded from 15000 V2.11. It is essential to use the OLD procedure on any machine that is being updated from MC15000 V2.

Cas,

Congratulations, the purse and wallet look great! Thanks for the pics and links to the patterns.
I have some of the same fabric that you used (obviously we both have great taste in fabric).
I was glad to hear that the cork sewed and embroidered well.

Enjoy,

Estelle

Patrice,
No, you are not alone!  Mine worked 100% of the time before the update and, even though my dealer tested it over and over while I was there, it works intermittently now.  Very, very disappointing.
After the update it worked at first, then it became iffy.  Then it went though a period of working for awhile then iffy again.  Then, when I tried to make a video to send to my dealer, it worked great and continued to do so for a while.  In the middle of a project I changed from the red tipped needle to a purple tipped needle and it would not work at all.  Nothing I did could get it to work and it didn't make sense at all.  I even turned off the machine to see if that would reset things but it refused to thread that and even the red needle which I placed back to test it.  Now, for some unknown reason it is working again.
I am so annoyed by this. I felt I had to have mine replaced to keep up to date as I understood it at the time and thought that since the original worked so well, the replacement would not be a problem.
This situation makes no sense to me at all!  But don't give up on it.  If my dealer were closer I would have brought my machine back to him sooner but it's a long trip for me.  I didn't tell him about my continuing problem but will as he should know and hopefully he'll be able to fix it when I get in there again.
So I feel and share your frustration!
Ceil

The threading mechanism has gears that allow the threader to go up and down.

Re: 15000 upgrade

It may have something to do with your needle size. When I updated, my dealer told me be sure and use a needle size greater than an 11 or I would have to manually thread it. Hope the solution is that simple for you.
Good luck,

I'm getting a little  confused about update vs upgrade!  It seems like the terms are being used interchangeably, but I thought an upGRADE was something that must be purchased, as opposed to  upDATES which are newer features provided by the machine manufacturers.  My dealer installed the update, which included the needle threader and P foot, and anything else that was included from Janome, but I didn't purchase anything.  I didn't need the extra feet or capabilities.  For some reason, the needle threader is not catching the Isacord thread.  I tried several spools to be sure, and tried RA, which didn't work either.  It seems to work with Superior, but I have very little it.  It worked in the shop, and when I got it home.  I even watched the video again to make sure I threaded it right.  I would just switch brands, but I've accumulated quite a bit of Isacord, and don't want to start a whole new thread collection.  I have quite a collection of Jenny Haskins that came with my 15000 and I was going to sell it because I use polyester, and it's rayon.  Which is more widely recommended for embroidery?  If there are no drawbacks to rayon, and it works, it would be a good solution.  If anyone has any suggestions for getting the threader to work, I'd be just as happy to stick to my Isacord, and not switch to Jenny Haskins.  I've been trying to accumulate more shades of the colors I already have.  I try to order 3 different shades of a color to make sure the colors coordinate.  I have the actual thread sample chart, so I can tell which ones work together best.  I have had 4 Janomes, and almost always the problems are user error, and I'm stumped!  If I can't get it working properly, I guess I can take it to the dealer, but I want to rule out any mistakes I'm making first. Besides, it's so heavy, I rarely take it out of the house.  That's why I bought the S9. Hope someone has some suggestions.  Thanks.  Sue Raabe   sueis.stitches@...
