Embroiderabl stuffed animals

Sue Raabe <susies.stitches@...>

Does anyone know if the stuffed animals that are made to embroider are available as licensed products?  I'd like to embroider on Elmo for my grandson, but have no idea if such a thing is available.  A few years ago, I kept receiving emails from people who had ordered licensed sports team logo designs from someone with a very similar business name.  Since she had no contact information,  people would call me instead!  I know very little about the legalities except that digitizers need to purchase a licensed logo to sell it as a design. All I'm hoping to do is embroider his name on an unstuffed, legally purchased Elmo!  By asking here, I'm hoping to avoid endless hours of searching for something that doesn't exist.  If I hadn't received an ad for the 'regular' ones, I probably never would have thought of it.  It was an impulse idea, and if such a product doesn't exist, at some point, maybe I can find an Elmo design to embroider, or maybe not!  Not sure if it pays to buy a Brother, and do Disney instead (although my daughter loves Eyore!). Thanks for any info - just want to be clear that I'm not interested in doing anything illegal 🙂.

Re: Upgrade and WiFi issues

Everything works except the 15000.  The WiFi connects on both the machine and the iPad, but none of the WiFi functions work.  I think I'll try Janome support before I contact my dealer.  Will be helpful to hear what they say,

Gail

Thanks so much Barb. I tried this prior to starting up the machine and it seems to have alleviated this issue. So far no other issues. I'm sewing with it the next few days so we'll see. It's so good to have it back.

I had the Babylock Elissimo before my 12000, and now the 15000.  It was more user friendly than Viking and Pfaff, but not as trouble free.  I don't know if they changed the plate screw locations, but one of them couldn't be accessed with a screw driver; I had to use a dime!  I do miss the camera, but much prefer my Janome.  Babylock may have made improvements since then, but I'm still a die hard Janome fan.  For some reason, all of a sudden, I've had to switch thread brands for the needle threader to work, but it's not worth taking it just for that.  If I can't get it to work with the Isacord, I'll thread it by hand, since I only have a few spools of the new brand.  Janomes are very tolerant, and usually all I have to do is rethread to solve any stitching problems.

Thank you for responding. Will try that. We tried to lift the disc off but it felt like the edges were going to break ....maybe didn’t have my thumbs on the shaft...so will try it like you suggested. Thanks again

The plastic cutter disc does come off. Put fingers on each side, thumbs on the shaft, and pull up with the fingers while pushing down with the thumbs.

I would check that your other electronics that use your internet connection still work. I had issues with my internet connection – sometimes it would work, sometimes it wouldn’t but it was for all devices hooked to it. There was a “switching” problem at a central location which took 3 trips for the Windstream techies to figure out and finally correct!

I have always used WiFi to transfer designs to my machine and would also use AcuMonitor on my iPad if I left the room.

When I got my machine back after the upgrade, Horizon Link Suite could find my machine but would not send designs.  I thought it was because I hadn't updated Horizon Link Suite yet.  The AcuMonitor was also not working.  Again, it could find my machine but would not display the embroidery.

I updated Horizon LS today and I'm getting the same results.  I went into WiFi settings and reentered the network info and changed the name of my machine.  Same results, can find the machine, but cannot sent.  Says Connection Issues or something like that.  I know it's seeing the machine because it has the name change,

Any suggestions?

There is no reason why your dealer would have had to do anything with the network settings. I would suggest asking to have the V3 update installed again. It sounds like something is incomplete or incorrect in the installed V3 software.

That happened to me when I first got my 15000.  Ever since then I aways watch it wind.

My 12000 gives me the same message. If I gently push up in back of the needle bar, it solves the issue. Barb

I’ve had that problem and I now hold the thread in my left fingers to hold it at the right height until the bobbin is well started.

Well, I reinstalled acudesign and dropbox, then copied the files right from dropbox to acudesign, instead of importing from acudesign. So far so good. Hopefully, won't lose anymore edited files in my design folder.

I had this happen before and discovered I had allowed a loop of thread to get underneath when prepping the bobbin for winding. I am more careful now and it has never happened again.

I read that too and thought it very helpful in explaining the specific tension differences and how they interacted with the needle thread. That makes it easier to figure out other which bobbin to try with which thread and project, especially if you're having stitch out issues.

There is no option to add an e-mail address.
I am going to try to join the group all over.
I really don't want to lose this.

In addition to my 15000, I have a Brother ten needle embroidery machine and love the features... I have had Janomes since 1988 or so and love them.. HAVING SAID THAT...I think it’s so much more enjoyable to have good local support. My dealer worked thru that issue you’re having with your 15000 a long time ago and it is a dream now — especially with the latest update. If you’re looking at Babylock, you might consider Brother also (basically same machine) — depending on dealers available. I’m sorry you don’t have someone that knows how to fix that issue on 15000 — so much invested, it would be ideal to keep it. I actually was going to sell mine a long time ago because I use my ten needle most of the time and sew on a different Janome .... but what I could get from Dealer after he takes a commission, I couldn’t bear to give it up. Good Luck - consider all options

AcuDesign update

Elizabeth Gower

Has anyone in this group had a problem with acudesign since the latest update. All of a sudden when I try to transfer anything from dropbox acudesign crashes. I've also lost all my imported designs and my designs. This is the first time I've had a problem. Is there any way to contact Janome or do you have to contact a dealer?

When Dropbox shut down version 1 of their app interface on 9/28 AcuDesign could no longer import designs from Dropbox. An update was released a week or so later, but there have been more than a few reports of it crashing whenever you try to import a design. You can report the problem to Janome directly, but the fix will have to come from the Artistic people who created AcuDesign for Janome by cloning their DRAWings Snap app. Given that Dropbox notified developers several months in advance about the shut down of the V1 interface, and that AcuDesign did not get updated until after V1 was ended, it may be a while before this gets fixed. When you set up a new iPad you are asked if you want to shared data with app developers. This provides them with crash reports, which are an enormous help in fixing bugs. If you didn't do that when you set up your iPad, you can do it now in the Settings app. Tap "Privacy", then "Diagnostics & Usage".

This has all the info about the bobbin holders, including a project to get that hand sewn quilting stitch we discussed recently.

Only you can change it. The following came from Yahoo Help:

  • Change your personal email address in a group
  • Need to update the email address that you use in a group? You can do it in the "Edit Membership" section.

    1. On the group's main page, click Membership | Edit Membership.
    2. Next to "Identity," click the Edit Settings icon Pencil.
    3. Select your desired email address.
Tip: If the address that you want to use isn't listed, click Add New Email.
    4. Click Save.
