The updating/disabling of a Digitizer dongle is a one-time event. To install Digitizer MBX 4.5 on your new computer just use the CD/DVD that came in the update. It is the full product. Before trying to use it, you should also install these updates:

Re: Horizon Link Suite update on Mac with VMWare

I had already tried that but I tried it again and I still got the same error.  Yes, \\psf\home is a Windows share on my Mac but I can assure you that whatever my setup is, it's a default because this whole virtual stuff is out of my league.  In VMWare Enable shared folders is checked and all the Mirrored Folders that are listed are checked.  Is that impacting it?  How do I not use a network location?   I do have all my embroidery designs in my documents folder on my mac and I don't want to do anything that is going to require me to change that.  Any ideas?

The Mirrored Folders is your problem. It forces your Windows Desktop to be on the Mac and the InstallShield software cannot cope with that. I will email alternate instructions, and suggest that we conduct this off list, as it's going to get very detailed and annoying for other members.

You shouldn't be using a network location at all. I'm guessing that \\psf\home is a Windows share on your Mac's home folder. This is definitely not a good idea. Drag the downloaded zip file to your Windows desktop. Right click on it to "Extract all", as instructed in the documentation. Double click the extracted folder to open it, then Open The HorizonLinkSuite folder and double click on the "setup" application. That should get things going. When it finishes you can delete the folders from your Windows desktop.

I think I read the message wrong. The $5.46 was for binding only. Right?

Sue,
If you have the newest Quiltmaker version of the manual, you're good to go.  You have everything.  If you bought a  v2manual then you should add the pages I mentioned.  You can download the pages you need to add to the new manual from the link at the Janome site or from the one your dealer sent.  The major problem with just upgrading an old manual is that the new one references the new page numbers and that might be annoying. I like having a copy of my computer for quick reference and a hard copy to add and make notes.

Tony - I'm glad to hear that I'm not the only one to receive a bad part.  I've done 3 upgrades, but the 4th just won't hold the thread.  Another call to Janome!

So do we get a new P foot along with the up grade and threader change on the 15000? Or is the new P foot in the accessories that we purchase for $149.00.

The threader update includes the new P foot and the snap-on foot holder. Both of those items are replaced.

Will someone please explain what the HP foot and plate are for.  MY dealer had no idea what I was talking about.  I had my 15K updated with the new needle threader but the dealer didn’t know anything about any HP foot.

As mentioned in previous message, I printed manual from my computer!  Staples used clear sheets for the covers and then spiral bound the manual.  Even at the cost of printer ink, it is still cheaper. The manual was printed in color. A standard cartridge yields 360 on my Epson printer.  That would be less than $10.00

Haven’t read all the previous posts on this topic, but I bought s new 15000 manual from my dealer for $35. Of course I found the original the day after I brought home the new one! I don’t know if there are additional pages that aren’t in it. I only had the update done( didn’t buy the upgrade package.). I never installed any of the previous ones - are they included in the latest one? Sorry for making anyone repeat previously posted info on this.

I am dumbfounded! How can there be such a huge difference in price? Was this in a city in the US?

It took some work but I finally got it installed.
Uninstalled old version, tried installing new version: no go.
Reinstalled from original CD, upgraded, tried installing new version: no go.
Uninstalled again and tried again: no go.

The problem stemmed from the fact that my Windows 10 didn’t do anything that the directions said. I never had to go through the extraction, it just did it. And then, I didn’t have anything designated as an .exe file so I kept clicking on the wrong item. Tried something else (I’m away from the computer) but it was in the same position as the .exe file in the picture and it finally worked.

Did I ever tell you I had Windows??? LOL!!!

Very cool video.

I wonder how that hook manages to grap the tiny thread with the shuttle hook.

That is what I do for all my manuals. Saves lots of time because iBooks allows you to search by word or phrase. No guessing what page to go to for your specific question in the hard copy. I am also in process of printing hard copy of Quilt Maker on home printer and will have it spiral bound at local Staples.

If you have an iPad and if the manual is in pdf format, you can just add it to your iBooks app.  Not only will you always have it with you (when needed) but it will be searchable!

Tried something new

cas <cassweet@...>

Hello, today I made a small quilt in the GR hoop.  When I got done with the top embroidered design I took the stabilizer off the back but left the fabric hooped.  I then glue basted and pinned batting to the back of it and used another design to quilt it.  It actually worked!

I used clear thread for the quilting.  I slowed the speed down to 400 and used a small spool on the horizontal pin with a net over the bottom half of it.

Thanks for letting us know about the update Jim.  Turned on my ipad and couldn’t figure out why it was stuck the wide way.  I looked in settings and I had checked “lock rotation” with side button.  Was that option always there?  I don’t remember doing it.

Cas

Horizon Link Suite update error message

Barb Engvall

First, I am NOT a Windows user - only under duress - give me a Mac any day!

Anyway, got my machine back with the repair (needed new bobbin case and needle plate and something with the take-up lever) and the update. Works beautifully so far. Now, I’ve tried to upgrade my Horizon Link Suite on my Windows 10 laptop and get this error message:

“Another version of this product is already installed. Installation of this version cannot continue. To configure or remove the existing version of this product, use Add/Remove Programs on the Control Panel”.

So, is the update really the full version? Am I safe to remove the old version or are there some tricks I need to learn? Or is there some setting in my Windows that I need to fix? Appreciate the wisdom of this group!
