Karen,
If you are in Australia the  Upgrade is $499.00 and you do it yourself. You get a USB with the machine update, the Box with all the new feet and cover plate plus another USB with the Horizon Link Suite 3.0

Most likely the needle bar has been knocked out of position. This can be fixed, but will require a technician. You won’t need a new machine.

Machine freezing

I had my machine updated a week ago, and invited a friend to use it for her quilt, because her machine is very small.  It worked like a charm, until she ran over a safety pin.  Now it does nothing, the error message says to raise the presser foot and needle bar, and turn on the power.  when I turn it on,it makes a grinding noise, and nothing works.  The soonest the dealer can look at it is next Wednesday.  I'm hoping it can be fixed; I haven't even finished paying for it yet!  I thought it would be OK to let her use it, but I'm less than thrilled that she jammed something.  Does anyone have any suggestions about what could be wrong?  I'm probably being paranoid, but all I can think of is needing to replace it.  I'll have to be careful about letting other people use my machines from now on.  Thanks for your help.  Sue Raabe

I have the MC 15000 brought it in for service yesterday.  I asked about the Upgrade for Quilt Maker Accessory Kit.  I was told it's $499.00!  I went online and I see the Kit is $149.00.  I must be missing something?  Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Perhaps the first thing to do would be to see what version you currently have installed. Open Horizon Link Suite and click the icon in the top left corner of the window. From the menu that pops up click "About".. This will reveal the version. If it is 1.31 then you have already installed the update. If it is something else you may need to uninstall Horizon Link Suite, then install it from CD, then finally install the update.

Yes, I am having all the same issues. Now can’t even convert my sew files, which were converted before this.
I am also disappointed. Going to a computer dealer today to get him to transfer my files into iCloud or my laptop. I don5 know how to do this. I was so happy when I could use the AcuDesign, never even turned on my laptop.
I never got a free iPad with my 15000, had to buy one myself, so got the 32 g one.
It is extremely disappointing to pay all that money for a machine and then go
Backwards because they don’t update the software.
I have a call in to Janome support and also an email, but so far, no response. No5 very good service as far as I can see.
Also talked to my dealer, he offered no support.
Very disappointed!

This is the first time in 10 years of owning and using a Janome that I am truly disappointed. I understand what Jim says, it's expensive to update apps, HOWEVER Janome stressed the ease of use of Acu Design, using it with Dropbox (I upgraded my storage space on Dropbox for a fee) and the other apps AND the fact that the machine came with an iPad (which I never did use, I chose a better device) makes this error problem related to the API version a real BIG issue. Janome needs to spend the time and $ to fix it. AcuDesign is basically useless in it's current form. It all worked so beautifully for me and probably many others. I am going to have to rely on my aging laptop to work with my files and 15000 now and I feel like it is a real STEP BACKWARDS. I have contacted Apple requesting a refund for the lettering module that I paid $49.99 for. I'd rather just use Embrilliance Essentials to add/change lettering to designs that go through the steps to get AcuDesign to open a design from the cloud edit it and then save it again if necessary and or upload it to my machine. For some reason, the app does not remain connected to my iCloud Drive and has to be re-enabled every time I go into the app I CAN'T STAND THIS HASSLE.
Rant over but I am going to get a contact number from my dealer and give them the speech as well.
Thanks for listening,
Deb in CA

Rather than rant to your dealer, I would suggest just asking her when AcuDesign will be updated. That may lead them to call Janome. Then post your rant to the Janome Facebook page. That will get it in front of people who can make something happen.

I have 6D, but I haven't used it for so long, I probably would have to spend several hours getting refreshed in the program.  But, I don't think you would lose anything by using it to export to Janome machines.  It's a reliable program.  Donna

I think I've only seen one other person in the group mention that they use 6D or one of the other Husqvarna digitizing products.  Am I losing stitch quality by creating or editing designs in 6D and then exporting it to Janome?

Thanks.

I use the latest version of 6D Husqvarna software digitizing software. You must be sure stitch width is narrow enough for Janine 15000 to stitch.  For some unknown reason, Janine and Husqvarna are not coordinated. Go figure!

Jim,
Your patience with and care of the people in this group continues to amaze me. I have been able to use the Dropbox app in the way you described above - it is far from the simplicity of the “old” way, such a shame. Thanks so much for taking the time to instruct me(us) on this. One last question is it possible to use iCloud in the way Dropbox used to work? I have tried to enable icCoud in the settings menu but so far iCloud doesn’t show up in the import box.
Bless you!
Deb in CA

In its simplest form iCloud works like Dropbox. Unfortunately AcuDesign does not implement iCloud that way. If you enable the iCloud option AcuDesign will store designs there to avoid taking up space on your iPad. They don't provide a way to import from it or export to it, but in iOS 10 and above you can choose to store designs there. If you enable iCloud after the fact it seems to store designs in an iCloud container that is specific to the AcuDesign app. You apparently don't have access to it outside of the app. Even the help system, which is shared with DRAWings Snap is extremely vague about how iCloud is used. It's unfortunate that the power and useful nature of the app is crippled by the process of getting designs into and out of the app.

Re: Digitizer MB V.3.0 error message

Thanks Jim for the file on how to fix problems with the digitizer V.3.0  I tried your suggestions and several from Janome plus updated to V3.0P but it seems to be microsoft that is causing it to time out and not start.  I have windows 10 and with every update it is getting worse.  I can't find the restore feature to go back to when easy design worked but now have to use a very old computer but at least I can use it.  I even uninstalled and reinstalled it and it will not work.
I appreciate your help so much.
Thanks again

Mine made a horrible struggling sound when turned it back on after I forgot to park the hoop before shutting it off.  Now I always try to remember to park the hoop and close the embroidery unit before I shut it off.

I have had my 1500 updated with the new needle threader.  It worked fine.  I used the embroidery unit yesterday and now when I go back to regular sewing, it seems to be jammed and the machine vibrates when I turn it on?

Has anyone had that problem?

Is there a "home remedy"?

Re: Error Message

Deb Keldrauk

My ipad is using OS11 as well could you walk me through how to get my AcuDesign to work correctly with it again?
Thanks in advance Jim

I spoke too soon with regard to the Dropbox fiasco. With iOS 11 it's still viable and fairly simple to EXPORT a design to Dropbox, but IMPORT is more complicated. Unless Janome updates the app, it's going to be seriously crippled with regard to import options. Hopefully they are already working on an update.

EXPORT procedure (iOS 10 or later ONLY)
1. Open the App Store and update Dropbox if it is listed in the updates.

2. Open the Dropbox app and let it do its "housekeeping" if requested.

3. When sending to Dropbox look in the last row of icons (the gray ones) for "Save to Dropbox". Note that this will not default to the folder "Artistic" inside the "Apps" folder on Dropbox. You will have to navigate there yourself before saving by tapping "Choose a different folder". The plus side is that you can save it wherever you want now, no longer tied to the Artistic folder.

IMPORT procedure (iOS 11 ONLY)
1. Open the "Files" app on your iPad. This is new with iOS 11.

2. In the Locations (left column) tap "Dropbox".

3. Tap folders as needed until you find the one containing your design. It will NOT have an icon for the design. Instead it will show the AcuEdit icon, along with a little cloud if the design has not yet been downloaded to the iPad. All you will have to go on is the file name.

4. Tap the file you want. A white screen will open with the name of the file in the center. Tap the square icon in the top right corner of that screen. This will open a dialog where you can select AcuDesign from the top row of apps. If you have not previously opened AcuDesign it will open with a message about being busy. Let it finish opening and repeat the entire process.

AcuDesign is far from perfect, but it's the most flexible app that Janome has for the iPad, being the only one that can open designs from sources other than the machine. It's worth noting that AcuDesign was created for Janome by Wings Systems, and their app DRAWings Snap has the same problem with Dropbox. Dropbox sent notices to all developers last year to advise of the ending of the version 1 API, which most apps were using. I am a very tiny, nearly unknown developer and I got the notice. I fixed our apps well in advance of the cutoff. The fact that Wings Systems did not is puzzling. Their most recent update of DRAWings Snap was 7 months ago and the most recent review is a one-star from April.

Apps of this type are VERY expensive to develop, and the market for them is very small. That's why they are pricey. This may effect their priority in updating the app.

I just had my machine updated to the 3.0 with the new needle threader.  The needle threader worked fine at the store, but now doesn’t  work, even with a size 14 needle.   I had problems in the past with the needle threader and it was fixed.  I am not please with the new update.

Check for something caught in the carriage that prevents it from moving. Other than that there is no "home remedy", as the covers will likely need to come off. Sorry to say it is probably dealer time.

Re: Error Message

Deb Keldrauk

It is very odd that you were able to download from your Dropbox Jim, apparently there has been a protocol change with the Dropbox app and AcuDesign has not been updated to continue to be integrated. I am getting the “Dropbox.com error 400 as well. Janome it seems has REALLY dropped the ball on this one. I am irritated that my free app does not work as it should, but I am angry that my lettering module that I paid $49 for is now USELESS. Something that was so easy is now a headache ........READ THIS: On September 28, 2017, API v1 will be turned off, so it's time to move to API v2.
If you want your app's Dropbox integration to keep working, upgrade to API v2.
For details about the deprecation, check out the blog post.
Please acknowledge that API v1 is being deprecated by clicking the box below. If you do not acknowledge that you're aware of the deprecation, your app's users will be notified as part of the deprecation timeline.
I understand that API v1 is being deprecated

I'm aware of the API change, as I have removed Dropbox from our apps that use it. My iPad is using iOS 11, which supports app extensions. In that situation Dropbox is managed externally from the AcuDesign app. This is also available in iOS 10, but not iOS 9, which is where many of the free iPads given with 15000s are stuck. I can't speak for Janome, but it's possible that they did not want to spend the money to have the app revised to use the new API. They may deal with it in a future update, rather than doing it now.
