Re: DIME Snap Hoops

I have the DIME Hoop Topper which fits on the ASQ22 hoop. It consists of a plastic frame and 12 very strong magnets that take the place of the magnets that come with the ASQ hoop. I used the hoop to make an embroidered project the other day and it works very well. Also DIME has made a Monster Hoop for the Janome 500E machine.

I've been told by my local Brother Dealer that DIME does make a 5 X 7 magnetice hook for the MC15000.. Been waiting 5 months to get it, so I'm beginning to doubt her just a bit!

Does anyone know if we can use the Janome Snap Hoop Monster by DIME on our machines?  This is a magnetic hoop like our accufil hoop but it comes in an 8" x 11" size and is made to use for heavy items including quits.

My friend has a Bernina and bought the one for her machine plus the Edge to Edge quilting software and is quilting her on tops like crazy.  She says the line up of the designs is easy and she can do a whole quilt in a couple of hours.

Also, while I was at the quilt show in Paducah, I heard that Janome was making a new ruler foot for the 15000 because they don't recommend us using the one we currently have.  Has anyone heard any more on this?

I have the Janice Quilt Topper. It is made of flimsy plastic. The magnets are quite strong. It is okay, but I am not really impressed. I had hoped they would have made a snap hoop for the MC15000, but they said they have no plans for it.

Don't forget the Accessory catalog, available to download (free) from Janome's websites (I found it easily on Global.  http://www.janome.co.jp/e1.htmI
Just click  on the word Accessories (left side of the page).  I've saved mine to iBooks on my iPad.

Janome America (janome.com) can get to a multi-page list of accessories that will fit the 15000, although I found the catalog from Global to be far superior when looking to see if there was anything else I might need.  Tee hee.

If you've downloaded the Sewing Machine Accessories PDF previously, the current version seems to be updated with more 15000-specific items.

I had purchased the pintuck foot and it's pintuck cord guide.  Unfortunately the guide didn't fit the 15000. I've now printed just that page from the newer catalog and will take it to my dealer next time I go in so I can get the cord guide that will fit the 15000. 😊

Enjoy!

Correction.  I just looked at their website and they now have something called the Janome Quilt Topper that is supposed to work with the Accufil hoop.  Not sure how it works, but maybe it is the same principle.

No.  I contacted them and asked if they were planning to make one that fits Janome machines and they said no.  I think it is because of where the hoop attaches on the Janome.  All the others attach to the left.

Thank you Jim. Now to go in an argue with my dealer.  I had the correct numbers to begin with and they said no, the one the sold was correct--

Thanks again, don't know what we'd do without you.

JANOME RULER FOOT

Barbara Romanufa

I finally got into ruler quilting after borrowing a Westalee foot from a friend.  I decided I enjoyed it enough to buy the Janome foot.  I have the Janome 15000 and the Skyline 7. Jim stated in the foot book I need the QB-s Convertible Free Motion Foot, Part #767434005 and also the convertible Free motion foot No. 202146001..  My dealer knew nothing about those numbers exactly but sold me the Free Motion Frame quilting set 767434005 and the Convertible Free Motion Quilting Foot Set no. 202-001-003.  I live in Canada and thought maybe the numbers were different so I'd give it a try.

The foot works fine when I put it on and quilt, turning off the automatic foot lifter, etc.  But when I turn the machine off and then come back to it, it won't run and comes up with a message, Lift Presser Foot and turn machine back one.  The presser foot is lifted and I can't do anything.  This message is the same on both machines.  I took the foot off and the machine runs fine..  Just wondering if anyone has had this problem, and what the solution was.

Thanks to all, Barbara

Your dealer sold you the wrong foot. You have the QB-H Convertible Free Motion foot set. Because of the way it is designed it does not allow the presser foot lifter to get the foot as high as it should be, hence the message. Note that the part numbers in FootBook are the same, but without the intervening hyphens. Janome's ordering system does not use the hyphens, which is why I omit them. You need part #202-146-001, which should have QB-S stamped on the side. The frame quilting set he sold you use correct. It's also the only one of its kind, at least so far.

Acudesign and/or Embrilliance

Ceil J

Hi.  I have Acudesign and the My15000 app that will teach me how to use it.  But I usually work on my PC (in future it will be a Mac) and wonder if Embrilliance Essentials would be a better choice.  I just want to merge and do some minor editing of designs at this point.  From looking at both, it seems that Embrilliance would be less complicated to use although I couldn't send my designs wirelessly to the machine but at this time all my purchased designs are on the PC.  However, I don't want to spend over $100 for Essentials if it's really a duplicate of Acudesign and I just need the commitment to learn Acudesign.  Any thoughts?

Why not download the trial version of Embrilliance? That should help you decide.

I had the same reaction to that update install on my 12000. After I calmed down for the panic attack, I discovered that I needed to scroll to the next screen in the hoop setting - I believe it is at the bottom of your screen - like my Elna 860’s scroll place was. It’s the same one that you use to scroll forward for your designs, if my memory serves me correctly as I no longer have the 12000, but the 15000 instead which has moved some of the editing features to a different place on the screen. What you need to know is IF your machine shows the update - it is there.

I bought the RE18 hoop last month.  It does show up as the last hoop on page 2, so you need to press the right arrow to get to that page.

I finally got my V1.20 Update installed on my Elna eXcellence 900 (same as the Janome 12000) and it showed as the current version when I finished in install.

The RE18 (5.5 x 7) hoop did not show up on the hoops list on the machine. I put one of my own designs on a formatted USB stick and put it in the machine. The design came up but it did not show the hoop size - it showed the 9.1 x 9.1. I did a "Trace the outline" to make sure it stayed within the hoop edges and it did. I sewed it out and it worked fine.

Has anyone had the actual 5.5 x 7 hoop show either on the list or when you put in a design that fits it?

I can't speak to the Elna 900, as we've only ever had Janome. However on the 12000 15000, after installing the update for RE18 you need to use the scroll arrows on the right side of the touch screen when viewing the hoop list. The RE18 is probably on a part of the list that is not in view.

Also keep in mind that every design has a required hoop stored within it. So if you have a design that previously required SQ23 and you open it in the updated machine it will still show SQ23. You need to edit it and change the hoop before stitching.

Re: design properties

Sue Raabe <susies.stitches@...>

I want to embroider a red hat society design on a t shirt for a friend, but the one I tested seemed a little dense in areas.  Since I don't digitize, I don't really know the guidelines for a design to stitch on a knit.  It will be for a 4x4 hoop.  The one I tried was 11,000 stitches, which doesn't seem too bad, but the facial stitches seemed to pile up.  Is there a rule of thumb for a good stitch count?  I used a mesh stabilizer, and wss, so I think it was stabilized properly.  I saw one I really liked, but it had 24,000 stitches!  It was photo stitch, and regardless of how it looks, a t-shirt would never hold up to that.  I've been searching online, but the sites where I can buy just one design without too many stitches don't have any free designs to test the quality.  Many websites peovide one or two.  Any suggestions or good sources for reliable designs?  I don't want to spend all my time practicing one design sfter another, expecially when I have to purchase them first.  Thanks.  Sue Raabe

Mail problems

Lou Crawford <piano4221@...>

I kept thinking I was not getting mail from this list and another sewing list. Yesterday I noticed all my messages were going to the "Spam" folder. If you think you might not be getting messages you might want to check that. I had done nothing to cause this. I do sometimes get a message saying I need to change my password which I did back at the time of the hack being announced, but I still get them. I only use Yahoo for my sewing messages. I have another account for personal and other messages. I will go in and try to straighten this out. I have the Janome 9000 and 12000 and use them both a lot. I saw no need for me to get the 15000 at all. I don't have any machine problems, but I do like to read the messages anyway from this list and my other one.

Hi go to your technician or server tell them what you want and they should see you through.  I had trouble as well after yahoo were hacked and I could not get to the group and that is what I did Good luck CB

Re: Trapunto by machine

Colleen Bulman

Hi Brenda  I have a pillow somewhere but not sure how to get it into the group mail.  it really does come up nice. Just try it on something small. Draw a simple design onto calico and follow instructions I would never even try to do trapunto the other way this is so simple and quick and effective. Do you have quilt designs on the 15000 just try one of those.  You can decrease the size I think and sew a whole lot of blocks together and  join them to make a nice pillow or small quilt.

Has anyone done the V1.20 Update ?

Mary A Rease <bigmary@...>

Has anyone done the V1.20 Update for either the Janome 12000 or the elna 900? I have ordered the RE18 hoop and this is the update so the machines will recognize it.

The instructions for the Elna are confusing but the Janome instruction seem a little clearer to me.

Re: S9

I bought the floor model S9 because I was too excited to wait. I've had a few issues. That thread breaking message even when it's sewing and no broken thread. I manage to swing open that left front edge and discovered a dark green thread, which was not mine, was caught in there. I turned off and unplugged the machine before using tweezers to get all the extra thread out. Works fine now.
