New here

Sandra Williamson

I'm brand-new here, just found the group. I look forward to learning lots about my Janome. I'm new to Yahoo groups as well so I'll be learning the ropes so, don't be surprised if you see some strange postings from me as I learn my way around.

Re: My 15000 acuDesign app not working

Erica Getsoian

Problem Solved!!!

Well I thought about some of the apps I'd downloaded recently to view Trevor Conquergood videos(for Janome MBX software) and I decided to see what would happen if I deleted those apps (since that was also the time my acuDesign stopped working. I deleted the wireless USB app (ScanDisk), the Hightail app (something recommended to download and view the videos, and Extreme Player app (because the WMV files would not play on iPad). Anyway don't know which app caused the problem but now that they are gone and I reinstalled acuDesign and restarted iPad, the acuDesign app now works!!!!!!!! I can see all my designs without a problem.

We are so fortunate to have a group monitor who is right there and who knows everything! I tell other people to look for the Yahoo group for their machine but they don't find the kind of information we have here.

So for Thanksgiving, I want to share my thanks for Jim and Diane and for all of you out there who ask and answer questions and offer advice.

Back in the 80's when Compuserve first began and those of us in rural areas could connect to others for help, it was life-changing! Now we tend to take for granted that help is just a click away. So thank you all again!!

Acudesign app

Paula McLaughlin <paularmcl@...>

Hello! Thanks for accepting me into your group. I have a question about Acudesign. Every time I try to access the free download that came with my 15000 I get a message that says the number has already been used. Any way to get this to work? Paula Sent from my iPad

Being of an accepting nature, even though acceptance is automatic, Jim says:
Others have had this problem. You need a new number. The fastest way would be to have your dealer contact Janome on your behalf, but if that's not possible you can contact them yourself through the Janome website. Their tech support is usually overwhelmed, so it could take a while.

I agree.   I am new in the world of machine embroidery and I heard kept so many notes from this group. I very much appreciate the help I have received.. Thank you!

Now, about CompuServe...I had the Executive service and an 800 number to call (until I moved to FL and had to pay long distance charges in addition) to get 300 baud service for $6.95/hour or 'high speed' 1200 baud service for $12.85/hour...LOL ‎ at 300 baud, you get to watch e.v.e.r.y letter typed appear on screen, one at a time!   So, also thankful for fiber optic cable and megabit internet service, smartphones, tablets, laptop PC's, etc., to go with the wonderful, knowledgeable folks.

Janome 15000 New Update Installed

Bernie Giannotti

Fortunately, I have a wonderful dealer that installed the new update for me and didn't charge a dime!

I had a problem with the Automatic Threading System - it only took one visit for them to fix the problem and I've not had a problem since - it works every time.  Now that is a great dealer one that steps up to the plate and treats their customers with dignity and respect.  They are absolutely AWESOME!  Happy Thanksgiving to everyone.

Re: Bobbin quality

Thanks Jim

I guess the rubber makes them less brittle then.

I've only ever had one plastic bobbin break on me so far - and that was one of my old Elna ones while I was winding it - so fingers crossed I won't see one again!  In fact these pre-wounds look exactly like my Elna Diva ones with the flat tops, and in fact those Elna bobbins also work in the Janome, and the Janome ones work in the Elna.

Thanks for the info Heather and Jim.

Well I don't have an iPad and I haven't really done much couching using the sewing functions yet so I'm happy to wait.  I did know there was an FMQ couching foot coming out which sounds interesting but I am still practising my FMQ technique so it will be a while before I want to try that! :0)

I just don't seem to have enough time to fit in much trying out of techniques in between making things and other hobbies - I need another lifetime!

Anne.... I believe the new 15000 update contains the machine capability for the accusetter and also a new couching feature and designs.  There are included couching designs and you can but a couching foot for doing these designs in the hoop.  Not sure what else.  I agree that waiting for the bugs in new updates to work out is a good general policy.  Unless you need or want the new features wait a bit.  I have ordered the couching embroidery foot and when it comes ........ And the update is available ........ And I want to do the designs ..... That will be time enough to update. IMHO

I can't remember what the update was - but it obviously can't be anything critical as the machine is working brilliantly so I will paitiently wait until it is available on the Global Site.  No way am I going to take my machine to a dealer, while it is working brilliantly, in order for them to charge to put an update on.

In fact I won't be doing the update immediately it is available.  My policy on any computer update is to wait and see what bugs there are and make sure they are sorted or work arounds are documented before I do my updates.

I've always done this with my laptop operating system updates - unfortunately with Windows 10 I understand I won't be able to do that, but I haven't researched it properly yet - maybe I will be able to delay them.!

Avoiding parties where he might have to dance, Jim says:
We have had our machine updated by our dealer. The only obvious difference is that the update package includes 10 Embroidery Couching designs. On the machine itself there are no obvious differences, although the WiFi may be just a bit improved. As usual, there is absolutely no information about what is new or changed. Diane has been sewing a bit more than usual of late, and has seen no problems or strangeness. Well, other than me, but she's had to deal with that for longer than she would care to remember.

Re: Bobbin quality

Anne Parker

I buy extra bobbins from China on Ebay - a few pounds for 25 bobbins, in 5 different colours in a plastic case.  - like these http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/25PCS-Sewing-Machine-Thread-Empty-Bobbins-With-Box-for-Janome-Storage-Case-Spool-/251947924910?var=&hash=item3aa9443dae -  I have 3 boxes at the moment.  I have only found a burr on one of them and I think 3 of them are just a bit too small to fit over the bobbin winder spindle.  I plan to use those to hand wind cords on when I come to use my cording foot as they will fit on various other thread pins I have which are graduated.

I've had no problems using these colourful bobbins.

I've also bought my first pack of pre-wounds in the UK - http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/50-plastic-PREWOUND-BOBBINS-FOR-JANOME-AND-OTHER-SEWING-EMBROIDERY-MACHINES-/151879848717? - and they seem to work fine though I am still on my first one.

I've seen it stated on here that these should only be used once even though they are plastic not papaer.  Could someone please tell me why?  Once I've emptied one I will be testing out what happens when I wind my own thread on it.

Citing the Bobbin Recycling Agreement of 2008 in Brussels, Jim says:
Speaking only from experience with Janome pre-wound bobbins, we did reuse them extensively. The empty bobbins are somewhat thinner than the genuine Janome empty (102261103) and they are not rubber-infused as is the "official" bobbin. I suspect they are made thinner in order to accommodate additional thread. As a result the recycled bobbins are not quite as robust, and they may break after repeated use. At that point I suppose the shards and remnants could be returned to China, melted down and returned to us as Christmas tree ornaments or singing fish or whatever else they can manage with the bits.

Go to the Janome global website.  they always put them there first.

Dropbox on Ipad

I have uploaded my Digitizer V5 videos to dropbox on my desktop  and then set up the dropbox app on my ipad. Once they are in my dropbox app I am able to make available offline and watch them on car trips.

Re: My 15000 app

Older iPad has 5.2 GB out of 12.6 GB's free space and accusing app works fine. As I said earlier the the newer iPad that I got with my 15000 has 5.6 GB out 12.6 of free space and doesn't work.  I do have several Trevor C. videos on it. I'll try deleting them and see if there is a change. Disappointing because I wanted all my Janome items on one iPad.

It's not likely to be a memory issue. The next step would be a factory restore. You might want to visit the Apple Genius Bar for assistance with that.

looped stitches

When embroidering on my 12000, I notices some of the stitches looping on top of the design, especially when monogramming.  What can be done?  Thanks Mary Carlton
