Re: hoop sizes

Cheryl Paul

Hi Jim,

To recognize the size of the attached hoop, is it possible to do an update/upgrade to get this feature? Or would the sensor need to be in the robotic arm, therefore requiring a new expensive part. Stabilizer is expensive so I understand where folks are coming from with the hoop sizes. Even the small square hoop uses a lot of stabilizer because of its shape - nice stable hoop though. Maybe we have to work on getting the prices down on stabilizer - now that might be a trick to try.

Pack of the month...yes!

seamgood <seamgood@...>

Hi again.
Yes, I got my pack of the month. Wow...I am amazed. Janome sure is generous! It came with 2 full size rolls of Jenny Haskins stabilizers; tear away and cut away. Digitizer Jr....full version, 1 yard of gorgeous teal green fabric, looks and feels like linen. A box of 27 spools of embroidery thread, and instructions to make a tote bag.
Wonder what next month's gift will be? Can't wait.
Happy sewing!

question about adjustable zipper foot

seamgood <seamgood@...>

Good morning sewing friends!
Well, I made a zippered accessory bag last night as my first project. I like to do that for any new machine I get, to keep all the "stuff" in so it doesn't get lost. I also embroidered the Janome 12000 name on the front. It came out awesome, sewed like a hot knife through butter, and putting the zipper on was not too bad, considering I am not a fan of the zipper foot they gave us. I just love the adjustable zipper foot I've used on all my machines and wonder if they will be making one for the 12000? I have 2 and tried them on the 12000 but they do not fit. It is the kind that you need to loosen the screw and the foot has the claw that hugs the needle bar and then you tighten the screw. It has the little green screw to adjust the position of the foot...it slides right or left. Jim, if you are familiar with this foot..it is a generic one, any idea why it wouldn't fit? It worked on the 11000.
Also, what are you ladies using for tables for your 12000? Right now, I have mine on the 6500/6600 table, just sitting ontop of the table. Even with the embroidery unit on, it fits nicely, but I just have to pull it out from the wall to embroider. It's kind of heavy and on top of carpeting, it's a bit difficult to lift alone. Wonder if they will be making a table eventually. Oh, so many questions and wonderments!lol

But, so far, I am totally smitten!
Happy sewing.

Re: You Need To-----Hoops

Well I went to Janome and filled out the form with my complaint to Machine Support...hopefully it will do some good if we all do this and tell your dealer too. Also when you write up your complaint - be sure to tell them that it should be a free upgrade to those of us who have already purchased our machines and no matter how it is done - upgrade to the unit or a unit recall...be sure to tell them you are talking about the 12000 and the 5 x 7 design hoops.

Good luck people!!!

We all need to complain to Janome and to our Dealers - it is only then that something will be done - even if it is a recall on the embroidery unit to update it to take in the 5 x 7 - 5 x 5 was a stupid (yes I said it) engineering design when the design patterns are 5 x 7. Maybe Janome is in cahoots with the stabilizer manufacturers. They say if you use it and lay it out correctly you can use up that stabilizer...well I have a whole bag of used stabilizer pieces.

On my way to the Janome site to complain...

Same here, Vikki.   I know that the dealer has to pay for them... and of course he will have to build that into the price... so I got a good deal on my machine by paying cash and trading my 7700 so I didn't even have the nerve to ask about Pack of the Month. I am happy with what I have.

Digitizer Jr.

elainesjosiegirl <elainekaiser@...>

Just wondering how many of you that have the Digitizer Jr. have upgraded to MBX? I haven't had my machine long enough to even think about using either. But I have been told that with some of the embrodery designs that use the larger hoops this is the way to get them to download since the programs don't recognize that the 12000 has the larger hoops.

12000 vs. Singer XL-5000

Hi
How does the sewing quality compared between Janome 12000 and Singer XL-5000?

Thanks

It's not possible to put in software to recognize the size of the attached hoop, because they did not build any kind of sensor into the attaching mechanism. Given that Brother has had this for years, I'm really surprised this feature didn't make it.

Whoever engineered the 12000 solved a lot of issues with the sewing side of
the machine, but didn't think out the embroidery issues. Janome has the
hoops out there. There just needs to be a bit of "manufacturing" to handle
additional hoops and an update to the software to recognize the hoop size.
That shouldn't be all that difficult to fix. Whether it's worth Janome's
while to do so is another issue!

Liz,
Complain to Janome, if enough of us complain to them maybe they will come up with smaller hoops. It's rediculous to have a 4" differance in hoop sizes.

I'm sure I'll have questions, but right now, I just want to go stare at her. lol
Talk to you all soon.

upright spool pin

sue <sue@...>

I found this one at Nancy's notions, called Horizontal Spool Feeder. It slides onto the horizontal spool holder. can hold two spools of thread. might be something for the 12000 machine stores to carry. Probably lots of other machines without an upright as well.

New Machine

Susie <mssewsue@...>

I picked up my machine yesterday It is wonderful and I have to work today.
I will play this evening.
