Getting designs from a jump drive

Lisa Powell

I'm new to the group, so I apologize if this has been addressed recently. I just bought a 12000, and I also have a 350E that I love. I can't get the 12000 to read a jump drive. I was hopeful it would use the same one I use for my 350E, but that's not working and I'm okay with that. I bought a new one, loaded on a design, and my machine tells me there's nothing on it. I have buyer's remorse so bad right now, you don't even know!! Is there just something I'm not doing right??

Thanks!

Lisa

Waving his remorse-removal wand, Jim says:

You didn't say what procedure you were using to put your designs in the USB drive, but I can make some general suggestions. On the 350E designs are stored in folders within the EmbF5 folder. When you put the 350E USB drive in the 12000 it creates its preferred folder EMB and within that EmbF. That's why you don't see your designs. Use the arrow at the bottom of the screen to move up a folder and open EmbF5. Then you'll see the folders that are on the drive and you can open them.

footbook and different number to janome site

laucke2011@...

Hi I have the footbook app on my ipad and was looking to buy some extra feet and the one I wanted is a clear view quilting foot (OV) but the number in the foot book is different to what Janome says can anyone tell me why Footbook no. 200449001 Janome 202089005., I am sure both say for the Janome 12000. I like to give part number when I order for my machine as I sometimes get the wrong ones from the dealer. Naomi

Taking his foot out of his mouth and putting it back in the book, Jim says:
From time to time Janome does change part numbers, both on parts and accessories. The 200449001 was the original part number from the packaging, but the 202089005 is listed on the website for the 12000. There is only one foot, but it does have two numbers. Use both when you order, making sure they understand you only want one set. Many times I would order parts from Janome's own machine parts lists, only to get a call saying the number on the parts list did not exist. It's just a fact of line when you are dealing with such a large number of items.

A major update is planned for FootBook when we complete the 15000 videos, and all part numbers will be revalidated at that time.

Janome Videos

Jim and Diane,

I just downloaded the Janome Video App.  Although they are very good, I'm still looking forward to the DVD/CD that you are getting ready.  Diane does an excellent job of presenting information for our machines - THE BEST!   I just want you both to know that even though Janome is starting to do their job, that you still do it better and I will be purchasing as soon as you give the READY TO GO for us to purchase.

Thank you.

Cheryl - Saskatoon

Blushing, Jim says:

We're not finished yet, but we are ready to start soliciting beta testers for the videos. I've set up a page to collect. To be accepted as a tester you must agree to these terms:

  • You must currently have a Horizon 15000 that you are actively using. Having one on order or still in the box won't work for us.
  • You must have an iPad 2 or later that is capable of using the Janome apps
  • IMPORTANT - you must not reveal any of the details of your test until the videos are released. This applies to any online resource - FaceBook, Yahoo, email or anything else. We expect complete confidentiality online or in the real world.
  • You need to view each video at least once. More videos may be released during the test.
  • You must agree to provide feedback about any problems you have viewing the videos or errors in the content.
If you agree to the terms and want to test for us, please register at this web page. Testers will receive the finished videos at no cost, as long as our terms are followed. Please understand that we will be accepting only a limited number of testers and you may not be selected. Allow 3-5 days for notification of acceptance by email. If you don't hear from us by then, you weren't chosen.

Hi Gail.   I also went to put it into I books I am sure I saw it there but after I read your message I checked again and hello nothing.  I think I pressed add to reading list when I pressed that little box with the line thru it.  Perhaps you can only put it on desktop.  Will have another go. Cheers CB

I had an 11000SE before my 12000 and really liked it.  I got the 12000 because there is more space to fit quilts in and I really wanted the automatic presser foot lifter.  I really didn't care much about the larger hoops since I embroider more small things.
Just curious, do you already have a 12000 or 15000 and you are thinking of getting an 11000 also?  I think they are all fairly similar.  If you are looking for a smaller machine like to take to classes, I probably wouldn't get the 11000 and since the 12000 and 15000 have embroidery so you don't need it for that.  I have a Janome 3160 to take to classes and use as a 2nd machine.

If you have a smaller machine and want to upgrade to the 11000SE it is a good machine.  I like my 12000 quite a bit better though.

hello Gail  when you click on the web site and it comes up you will see all the items re horizon link etc. Just go to the top left of your screen on iPad and you will see a box with a line thru it. Click on that and click add to your home screen or desktop . I never had a clue either and the penny dropped and there it is .  It is super. Hugs CB

The easiest way is through Dropbox which  is a free App. Then open the file in your iPad using "open with" option.   Select iBooks which is also a free App.  If files are small enough, email to self and open from iPad using the iBooks option.

Thank you for posting the information. I just used Safari on the IPad and did a search for Janome Videos on Mobile Device and the link showed in the search results, clicked on it and then added it to my Home Page. Very convenient. :-)

How do you get the 15000 manual and HL Suite in iBooks.  I'm been trying but can't figure it out.

Thanks

Ditto!!  I also have 15000 machine manual and HorizonLink Suite in iBooks.  It is so convenient because you can search the documents instead of flipping through pages.

I have the 11000se so does my mom it's a great machine. I see no reason to up grade to the super expensive 12000 or 15000 I still have my bought new 10001 and keeping that one too
They both do all that I want to do and more I sew and embroider and digitize some I like doing photo stitch type portraits of family faces. just my two cents worth, hope it helps I have not had problems with either machines self threaders but my mom has on her 11000se my 10001 bobbin winder does not work, it was replaced once under warranty but the 11000se winds all my bobbins I probably will buy a stand alone bobbin winder one day, maybe.

The comment re the change in colour on the V2 mentioned the turquoise strip under the screen - not the light at the top of the machine.

Re: Need Help - Machine making odd sound while embroidering

Julia de la Fuente <juliadlf.ny@...>

Thanks Jim. I called a dealer and gave them the number you provided and she said it is the same one for the 8900 machine based on the part number? Hope she is right and didn't get the numbers mixed up but I have faith all will be good.
Julia
NY-MC12000

Yes the 8900 part should be the same.

Jim: I ran the machine like you posted (I also had to turn off the bobbin thread sensor) and no noise.I did inspect the needle plate and mine has a tiny crack from the hole that the needle goes through.I can feel it with my finger.  Do you know what the part number is for the MC12000 straight stitch plate is? I checked the files but no parts listed. Process of elimination before I take the machine into the dealer and I need to replace the plate anyway since it has the imperfection. Thanks for the help. JuliaNY-MC12000

Jim says:
The straight stitch needle plate is listed as part 859831004. What you see as a crack is more likely the result of a needle strike. A needle hitting the plate at high speed will always cause some damage, and it won't always break the needle. The strike that scratched the plate more than likely caused the needle to hit and scratch the hook race as well.

I hope someone can help me here.  If I have a usb thingee and I want to get a design off it into machine. I put the usb thingee into the machine but not sure what to do next.  Do I have to have pc attached to machine? I have done this before but have forgotten what to do.any help would be appreciated Thanks CB

Readjusting his thingee, Jim says:

Once you've plugged the USB drive into the machine touch the Mode key to get into embroidery mode. Open the carriage and touch OK. Then touch the OPEN FILE key (folder with arrow coming out of it) at the bottom of the screen. On the next page touch USB1 or USB2, whichever slot your USB drive is plugged into. That will lead you to a page showing the various folders, which you can browse for your design.
