hello Gail  when you click on the web site and it comes up you will see all the items re horizon link etc. Just go to the top left of your screen on iPad and you will see a box with a line thru it. Click on that and click add to your home screen or desktop . I never had a clue either and the penny dropped and there it is .  It is super. Hugs CB

The easiest way is through Dropbox which  is a free App. Then open the file in your iPad using "open with" option.   Select iBooks which is also a free App.  If files are small enough, email to self and open from iPad using the iBooks option.

Thank you for posting the information. I just used Safari on the IPad and did a search for Janome Videos on Mobile Device and the link showed in the search results, clicked on it and then added it to my Home Page. Very convenient. :-)

How do you get the 15000 manual and HL Suite in iBooks.  I'm been trying but can't figure it out.

Thanks

Ditto!!  I also have 15000 machine manual and HorizonLink Suite in iBooks.  It is so convenient because you can search the documents instead of flipping through pages.

I have the 11000se so does my mom it's a great machine. I see no reason to up grade to the super expensive 12000 or 15000 I still have my bought new 10001 and keeping that one too
They both do all that I want to do and more I sew and embroider and digitize some I like doing photo stitch type portraits of family faces. just my two cents worth, hope it helps I have not had problems with either machines self threaders but my mom has on her 11000se my 10001 bobbin winder does not work, it was replaced once under warranty but the 11000se winds all my bobbins I probably will buy a stand alone bobbin winder one day, maybe.

The comment re the change in colour on the V2 mentioned the turquoise strip under the screen - not the light at the top of the machine.

Re: Need Help - Machine making odd sound while embroidering

Julia de la Fuente <juliadlf.ny@...>

Thanks Jim. I called a dealer and gave them the number you provided and she said it is the same one for the 8900 machine based on the part number? Hope she is right and didn't get the numbers mixed up but I have faith all will be good.
Julia
NY-MC12000

Yes the 8900 part should be the same.

Jim: I ran the machine like you posted (I also had to turn off the bobbin thread sensor) and no noise.I did inspect the needle plate and mine has a tiny crack from the hole that the needle goes through.I can feel it with my finger.  Do you know what the part number is for the MC12000 straight stitch plate is? I checked the files but no parts listed. Process of elimination before I take the machine into the dealer and I need to replace the plate anyway since it has the imperfection. Thanks for the help. JuliaNY-MC12000

Jim says:
The straight stitch needle plate is listed as part 859831004. What you see as a crack is more likely the result of a needle strike. A needle hitting the plate at high speed will always cause some damage, and it won't always break the needle. The strike that scratched the plate more than likely caused the needle to hit and scratch the hook race as well.

I hope someone can help me here.  If I have a usb thingee and I want to get a design off it into machine. I put the usb thingee into the machine but not sure what to do next.  Do I have to have pc attached to machine? I have done this before but have forgotten what to do.any help would be appreciated Thanks CB

Readjusting his thingee, Jim says:

Once you've plugged the USB drive into the machine touch the Mode key to get into embroidery mode. Open the carriage and touch OK. Then touch the OPEN FILE key (folder with arrow coming out of it) at the bottom of the screen. On the next page touch USB1 or USB2, whichever slot your USB drive is plugged into. That will lead you to a page showing the various folders, which you can browse for your design.

Jim, thanks for posting that document.  Will start using the method of passing the thread thru the center.  As for the suggestion about the thread guide, having the Horizon 15 and using the thread holder on the handle, can or should that be used, Claire S.

Finding that no good deed goes unpunished, Jim shamefully says:
Disregard the document. It applies only to machines OTHER than the 12000 and 15000, which use a different type of bobbin winder.

Re: Winding Bobbins

Jim, First of all thank you for the link to the bobbin winding.  Secondly, that method is correct for the 12000, but the 15000 has that new auto winding and threading as well.  I think I still prefer the old way of getting the thread on the bobbin as I don't find it easy to cut the thread on that little platter where the bobbin sits - maybe the blades aren't sharp enough on my bobbin winder or more likely, I'm the weak link or to cheap to leave a long enough thread to make that thread cut.
Again, thank you.  All will be well when my machine is fixed and I know my good friend, Eric our Janome tech, will do an excellent job - he always comes through for us sewing gals.

Jim

As I recall the bobbin winder on the 12000 and 15000 are different. I had a 12000 and didn’t like the bobbin winder, it didn’t have a separate motor like the 11000 did. They did make a great bobbin winder on the 15000.

Diane has reminded me that the bobbin winder on the 12000 & 15000 is completely different from the 7700 and you cannot use that method. Actually it's difficult to have a loose thread using that winder. The extra thread that caused your problem may have come from the thread coming off the spool erratically during the winding process. Sorry for the confusion - I should probably go take some pills or something. The memory is the first thing to go, right before ... Uh ... I'll have to get back to you on that.
