New Hoop Size Please!

Am I the only person who thinks a 4”x4” hoop is a good idea for the Horizon 15000 machine?

That is curious...I read rave reviews about it with the 12000...wonder why people are having so much trouble with the 15000?

I have the clothsetter and love it! It does work well. I could never get designs placed in exact places if I didn't have it.

Susan especially, and everyone else also,  I love my Clothsetter.  I have not regretted  even once buying it.  Yeah, you don't need everything that Janome produces to be a great embroiderer but that one sure helps.  I have never had an error with puckers, ripples, hoop jumps or any other annoying thing.  I am an oldtimer with Janome embroidery machines.  I have had the 8000, 9000, 10001 and the 12000.  Used all of the clothsetters for these machines and I am proud of my work.  I love Janome!!

Susan,

I bought the clothsetter and was disappointed by the fact that it does not stay firmly aligned at the center.  However, I does make it much easier for me to hoop.  I have not yet used it to precisely align something.  I think if I were to do that, I’d have to be very careful not to move the arm and get it misaligned.  I think that for most things, the amount that it is off would not matter but I think if you were trying to use it to put a pattern right next to something else, it could be a problem.

Someone who has actually used it to align their embroidery would have a better sense of this.  I can just say that I am glad that I bought it for hooping but really think I’m going to be disappointed when I need it to precisely place some embroidery next to another.  The reason for this is that the arm is made of plastic and the screws don’t seem to hold it tightly.  There’s too much wiggle and I’m guessing this is so that it can be used both on quilts and thinner pieces.

I think my cost was $175 plus shipping (maybe $11).

I recently upgraded from the 12000 to the 15000. Love the machine. The automatic needle threader is great, or put it this way, has been great. Opened the side door to see if there was an obvious issue but really don't know what to look for so just shut the door and resorted to threading it the tried and true way.  Are there some buttons, levers, magical incantations that will get this working again?  Or do I need to haul the beast into my dealer?

Thanks.

Answering in the tried and true way, Jim says:

If you get a buzzing sound when you hit the threader button, then it's mechanically blocked and will need dealer intervention. If it makes no sound, then it's an electronic problem and will need dealer intervention. Since you're going to the dealer anyway you can ask about the RE18 hoop.

Sue,
You'd need to call him to see if he still has them (I think he said he had 3 more when I ordered) and see if he's able to do that.  Worth a try.  He's on the east coast and here are his hours:
Tuesday through Friday         9:00 to 5:00
Saturday                                9:00 to 1:00

Hope he can do this for you.

Re: Re18 Hoop

Cheryl Paul

When our Janome Educator was here to do a presentation of the "What's new?" she told us about the new 5.5 X 7" RE hoop.  She did say that the update for the 15000 would be first and then following later would be one for the 12000.  Also that the hoop would be available to the 15000 owners first - now how would they (a dealer) know that you didn't have the 15000 and why would they care if they could make a sale - who got the new hoops.  The only reason I could think of would be not to tick-off a customer that had upgraded their machines to the 15000 from the 12000 or an earlier Janome or other brand.
The hoop is 5½" wide by 7" long - a wee bit wider that the previous Janome hoops that were 5 X 7.
I'm hoping my dealer has one on order for me, but I'm not holding my breath to get one real soon.  She is Saskatchewan's biggest dealer but only small in comparison to Alberta and British Columbia, in the west of our country.
