Yes, it's a very annoying design "feature". You'll need a Phillips aka Cross Point screwdriver, at a size slightly smaller than the hole. With the machine on its back, put the screwdriver in the hole, keeping it as straight as you can. Once you feel it contact metal gently work it back and forth until you feel it slip into the screw head. Then hold the machine with one hand and push the screwdriver in as hard as you can while turning it counter-clockwise. If it pops out of the head you may be using too small of a screwdriver. Pro tip - get the longest screwdriver that you can find. This provides extra torque in case the screw has been put in by a 500 pound gorilla.
