If you use the lock button it will move the hoop out if the way so the needle threader can be used. 
The janome pre wound bobbins are real bobbins and can be used in janome machines. I wind matching color when doing free standing lace. 

The noise may be from the thickness but you do need to clean the bobbin case more often then just when oiling.  Think of oiling your machine like we use to do with car oil- 3000 miles or three months. The more you use it the more often it needs to be oiled.

Do you reuse the pre-wound bobbins or just throw them out when empty.

Do you really oil your machine every month as suggested in the owner’s manual?  I’ve been making lots of in the hoop face masks and although they are sewing out just great the machine is sounding a little noisy but perhaps it is from the fabric layers that occur in the folds
