Re: Sharp Needle for Batik

Can I ask why I keep reading Batik is a close weave fabric. I have several Batiks, some are silk, some fine lawn, some medium weave cotton, some polyester, and all of them were sent to me from Indonesia. Batik is not a fabric, it is a method of creating patterns, images and designs on a fabric using wax resist and dyes. I also have some cheap Javanese (Indonesia) Sarong length Batik that is quite densely woven, primarily because it is intended to worn and laundered frequently, so has to be fairly hard wearing, but even so causes no  problems to my sewing machine, doesn't require denim or specialist machine needles.
