I’d check the thread paths – top tension and in the bobbin area to make sure that you don’t have any threads  caught or twisted around something. It wasn’t with this machine, but with my Janome 6500 – somehow some thread got wrapped around the cutting mechanism and the hand wheel  became difficult to turn. If that isn’t the problem, maybe someone else has some other ideas.

I was stitching with my 12000 when it started making a "groaning" noise intermittently when the needle went down. Handwheel is difficult to turn, too. Any ideas what the problem might be? Does it need to go to the shop? I've had it since the end of November & it's been fine til now.
