I run mine on a gigabit switch. You can assign a static IP address https://github.com/TAPR/OpenHPSDR-Protocol2-Programmers/releases
HPSDRProgrammer_web_v0.2.7_linux.tar.gz

slipstream:/c1/usr/src/XXX/HPSDRProgrammer_web_v0.2.7 # ./HPSDRProgrammer_web
2019/02/07 01:04:50     For a list of commands use --help

2019/02/07 01:04:50 RBF directory /root/Downloads/HPSDRfiles/
2019/02/07 01:04:50 Listening ...
2019/02/07 01:04:50 Point your web browser to: http://localhost:8228/intro/

I  found this when I  accidentally changed it's static IP address to that of Hermes and had to change it back.

I guess were I need help at this stage is about the steps needed to make Ody-2 ready to work. I am not sure whether any firmware need to be loaded first before ghpsdr is started, or whether it includes code to initialize Ody-2 itself.

I would be grateful for any info or hints on this, perhaps by anyone who succeeded with Odyssey-2 on Linux.

Look at PiHPSDR and LinHPSDR - both can talk to the ODY2.

Hello, Uwe
Probably you did not see the schematic yet. Check this before assembling.
HFPU-100 provides a possibility to connect 2 different antennas.

You'd better try to wait for the next Ody's batch, when David will have enough time to assemble some boards (or find a second hand rig) .
It is absolutely impossible to reliably solder a bga with a hot plate or grill, and definitely unthinkable to use a hot air gun. Particularly when dealing with 4 or 6 layer pcb. Risks to break a plated thru hole or have a bad solder joint are high.

The only way is to use a real reflow oven (not the one you use for cooking) with a real temperature control.  Some
Hackerspaces are able to help you to solder you bga (as most, if not all ham radioclubs don't even have a soldering iron anymore)

Hello Eugen,

you can order a partially assembled transceiver board Odyssey-2 on David's homepage but the FPGA is not assembled. BGA soldering is not a rocket sience. There are many videos on youtube. You can do it with a hot air or reflow (pizza ofen, hot plate, reflow ofen, pan cake griddle).

Maybe someone is here who wants to sell a build one.

Hello David,

happy new year!
Thank you for providing the gerber files.

I have question in regards to rx/tx switch. The Odyssey2 doesn't provide a rx/tx switch, correct? The HFPU-100 does have everything on board to take over this task or does it need a external switch? You wrote this on you homepage (HFPU-100:'This device is intended to be used in conjunction with the Odyssey-2 transceiver and offers all the necessary functionality to complete the work on the air.') but I would like to be on the safe side and asking before I complete my concept and housing for the complete trx.

Hi,

If there is any complete board for ODY 1 or 2, I would like to buy one.
I don't have experience with BGA soldering or other ultra small parts.

Please email me. I am good also on QRZ.
