One problem here, Bootloader display is all garbled, only ODYSSEY display is OK.

Hi David,
Not in pihpsdr.
Just the Local Microphone  and Compression.
I have not tried adjusting Compression to see if that would give a usefull boost.

David,

The radio is currently bricked.  I made the mistake of trying to program it with the radio plugged in and turned on.

I'm also pretty sure that the Pickit 3 isn't any good in the first place.  Tell me - should it show up as a COM port when I plug it in?? It isn't showing up in the Device Manager at all, nor working under Linux either.

Steve

Re-flashing bricked ODY-2

Neoklis Kyriazis

Hi all

After several months of waiting (since January 2020!) I at last received the
PICkit and USB blaster that are needed to re-flash my ODY-2, which I bricked
last year. I ordered from Ali Express but was interrupted by the virus!

Anyhow, to avoid making more mistakes and possibly ruining the ODY-2,
I wonder if there are any detailed instructions I can use to repair the SDR.
And also suggestions of what firmware to use for the repair.

My thanks in advance!

Thanks Reto,

MH-31 Microphone low output

Sid Boyce

Has anyone experienced low microphone level from the MH-31?

With the ODY-2's 1W I get no movement with the SWR meter set to 5W PEP full scale.

My setup ODYSSEY-2 --> 100W PA ex-IC737. At first I thought the problem was with the PA.

If I scream into the MH-31, I can talk it up beyond full output, speaking normally or blowing equivalently I get only a few watts output.

Using local audio electret mic to a USB audio dongle  with the PiHPSDR v2 I can drive the amp close to 200W PEP into a dummy load speaking at a normal voice .

Re: AML-30

Reto HB9TRT

Hi David,

Thanks for the Input. I'll check this. I solder the transformers by iron and with some flux. But it could be that the solderwork is not perfect.
DO you think that the currend of arround 15mA is ok? Or shud it be more? So I could have a chance that the AMP works and the problem is on another place. Maybe the transformers.

Re: AML-30

Hello, Reto.
For test the amp, touch each the input ports with a screwdriver, the signal streight should be identical.
The SMD transformers can not to be soldered with hot air. If some drop of flux will be appeared on wire, a transformer wil die after heating.
Only manual soldering with minimum flux using.

AML-30

Reto HB9TRT

Hi David,

I built the AML-30 Antenna, without success at the Moment. I think there's something wrong and I have to check it. What is the current, de AMP consumes if the antenna is powered on? I measur something like 10 to 15mA. Could be realistic, if yes, than I think the AMP works.
I guess I have to search the problem at the SMD transformers. Maybe solder problem.

Hello David
Thanks for the link. I'll look there and reading also in future.

A question, is the firmware in master mode available? I think in the GITHUB is only the firmware in slave mode.

Uhsdr: the head of uhsdr software would like to write to you for working together. He's also on a new project with DDC. Maybe you can bundle the knowhow and you have the Possibility that your ideas will be implemented in the uhsdr software.
That's why I ask you for an email address.
If you are interested you can send me an email at [my call]@gmail.com

I think this could be a state of a great new project.

Re: Program 2_1_20_ANP into a board running 1_10_ANP?

David Fainitski

Hello, Steve
First of all you have to update the bootloader to actual version.
Program MCU programmer with MCU.hex file from ANP firmware folder "Odyssey_ANP_2.1.2.zip" using  PICkit 3 programmer.
Then enter the board to bootloader mode and load Bootloader.rbf file to Slot 0 using Bootloader_2.1.pyw from "Odyssey_BL_2.2.zip".
Then load to slot 1, 2 or 3 working firmware, rbf file from "Odyssey_2_ANP_1.2.zip" .
Select needed slot and use the new firmware.

If you don't have Pickit 3 programmer, you can try to use old one, just load working firmware to needed slot.
I am not sure that it will work properly.

If found some time I simulate your problem on my ody. Because I have all programmers, I finde a way out if it fails ;)
