Re: Schematic - Odyssey 2 SDR

David Fainitski

Hello, Doug

There is no schematic for this project and you will need schematic for correct installing components on the board.

All needed info you can find here http://ody-sdr.com/2017/10/15/location-of-the-components-on-the-odyssey-2-transceiver-board/

David

Schematic - Odyssey 2 SDR

I purchased a PC board for this project, and have all the components yet to be placed on the board. I've looked around for a schematic for this design, and found only a block diagram. It's going to be rather difficult troubleshooting without a schematic. Where might I find the schematic for this board?

Odyssey 2 SDR kit for sale. Partially assembled board (purchased with some parts installed) and parts to complete the installation (according to the Odyssey 2 parts list). See the web site at "http://ody-sdr.com/" for additional information. Asking $550 including shipping within the USA. Foreign shipping will add $10 to the price. If interested, contact off list at dlwaddel@....

I purchased the parts intending to assemble a system, but have since changed my mind. After all, I have two Hermes systems working. :))

To answer your question - yes, it is possible. We were running FT8 using Odyssey 2 in 5R8UM Madagascar expedition.

How to do it - I have no idea, it was my friends radio and responsibility.

I remember that we were running PowerSDR, for FT8 - we started with JTDX and then switched to MSHV.

That's about it.

Hi Kurt

I’m not a FT8/WSTJ-X user, and I don’t have any Odyssey transceiver. But all rigs belonging to the OpenHPSDR family have approximately the same behavior.

Did you try to install VB Cable

https://www.vb-audio.com/Cable/index.htm

Banana

https://www.vb-audio.com/Voicemeeter/banana.htm

or voicemeeter

https://www.vb-audio.com/Voicemeeter/index.htm

?

These utilities can redirect any audio output to another software audio input and vice versa. In other words, everything going out from SDR-console/SDR-Radio or PowerSDR can be “plugged” on the FT8 audio input

The “audio plug” selection can be made in the “receive” tab, “option” icon, “device” branch of the new pop-up window

As you can see, the virtual audio cable input or any voicemeeter audio input can be selected in the “available playback” list.

In the QSTJ-X software,  audio configuration interface, you’ll have to choose the corresponding “VB Audio cable output” or “voicemeeter output” in you audio input listbox

… and exactly the same way for transmitting (WSTJ-X audio out should use a second “vb-audio input” and the other side of this cable will be “plugged” in the “mic input” of SDR-Console)

I wrote -sorry, in French- a kind of “Virtual cable for dummies” using a FreeDV software as digital modulator, and SDR Sharp or PowerSDR as main SDR client. But images speak by themselves.  The general logic approach is definitely the same with WSTJ-X an any kind of SDR client software

Hello, Kurt

3.3 Votls is full scale.

For power 100 Watt and less just copy the schematic HFPU-100.

Re: Ody II ANP 1.11 IP problem

Hello David

Problem solved. You wrote Python 2.xx needed but it is Phyton 2.7.x which is needed. I noticed in you document about the boot loaded was written in Phyton 2.7.h so that got my “brain to tick”. The windows installer for Phyton 2.7.8 was the one I used and the everything went smooth the Odyssey 2 wat found clicking on test and the default IP programmed subsequently successfully.
I have maybe a hint why the fault happened. I probably did not disconnected the Odyssey 2 via the center key on the microphone or the power on/switch on the radio but abruptly took the AC power to the 220V AC to 12V DC adaptor.

Thank you for your support David to get me “back in space”.

By the way.. what is the nominal / max input voltage for ADC1 and ADC2 as I want to make a SWR/Power detector like the one you have in the HFPU-100 PA stage

Kind regards

Kurt

Hi David

Thank you, the Odyssey run alright in Bootloader mode, but to get the Bootloader_2.0.pyw up and running is quite a challenge. The Python 2.3.5 installed (windows installer version) but clocking on the Bootloader_2.0.pyw does not get it to start. Opening with Pythonw dos not help either. What is the catch. Sorry I am a window guy so a bit helpless

Hello, Kurt

The IP address was reset to zero and I don't know why at this moment.

Bootloader starts with the default IP 192.168.2.160 but for working firmwares zero IP meaning that DHCP is enabled.

For resolve this problem run your Odyssey in bootloader mode and change IP address with the Bootloader_2.0.pyw program (Python 2.xx needed)

You should change the IP even if you use default 192.168.2.160 IP address. Just rewrite it.

Will look forward to news.

Ody II ANP 1.11 IP problem

Kurt Poulsen

After having enjoyed my new Ody 2 for a week with both OpenHPSDR Thetis and SDR Console v.3.06 both with RX and TX functioning I suddenly experience the none of the two application can initiate the radio. Switching power on Ody 2 reports ANP 1.11 and IP 192.168.2.160 and trying to ping 192.168.2.160 from a command prompt I get the message "Reply from 192.168.2.100: Destination host unreachable" but also the 4 packet sent and 4  packets received Lost=0 (I use CAT6 LAN cable between PC and Ody 2 and as said it worked earlier to day  with my fixed IP pc at 192.168.2.200 I just changed  to 192.168.2.100 to see if it made any change.

So a good hint what to do is appreciated

Kind regards
