Hello, Uwe
Probably you did not see the schematic yet. Check this before assembling.
HFPU-100 provides a possibility to connect 2 different antennas.

It is absolutely impossible to reliably solder a bga with a hot plate or grill, and definitely unthinkable to use a hot air gun. Particularly when dealing with 4 or 6 layer pcb. Risks to break a plated thru hole or have a bad solder joint are high.

The only way is to use a real reflow oven (not the one you use for cooking) with a real temperature control.  Some
Hackerspaces are able to help you to solder you bga (as most, if not all ham radioclubs don't even have a soldering iron anymore)

Hello Eugen,

you can order a partially assembled transceiver board Odyssey-2 on David's homepage but the FPGA is not assembled. BGA soldering is not a rocket sience. There are many videos on youtube. You can do it with a hot air or reflow (pizza ofen, hot plate, reflow ofen, pan cake griddle).

Maybe someone is here who wants to sell a build one.

Hello David,

happy new year!
Thank you for providing the gerber files.

I have question in regards to rx/tx switch. The Odyssey2 doesn't provide a rx/tx switch, correct? The HFPU-100 does have everything on board to take over this task or does it need a external switch? You wrote this on you homepage (HFPU-100:'This device is intended to be used in conjunction with the Odyssey-2 transceiver and offers all the necessary functionality to complete the work on the air.') but I would like to be on the safe side and asking before I complete my concept and housing for the complete trx.

Hi,

If there is any complete board for ODY 1 or 2, I would like to buy one.
I don't have experience with BGA soldering or other ultra small parts.

Please email me. I am good also on QRZ.
Thanks,

Simon, more than 2 weeks have passed and no 3.0.4. Is there an estimate? Is it possible to get the 3.0.4 beta?

Hi,

You need 3.0.4 which will be available in a week.

It’s a shame you don’t sell the Odyssey .

Hello, Simon.

The one of firmwares avalaible for ody-2 uses openHPSDR New Protocol, so this transceiver works with your Console V3.
I tried this just  yesterday and tomorrow with my new toy - Dell Venue 11 Pro.

It vorks very good, but when I switch to internal Odyssey speaker, the sound is interrupted. The programm shows Audio delay 0ms. I think need increase buffer size to 5 ms at least. Is this possible ?

At this time I don't assembly Odyssey more because I switched to other project. I can offer only semy-assembled boards for DIY  http://www.sdr-deluxe.com/shop/30/desc/chastichno-sobrannaja-plata-transivera-odissej-2

Dell Venue 11 Pro with my Odyssey-2

Hi, people.

Did you see on eBay there are many offers with this small Windows ultrabook ? Dell Venue 11 Pro ?

I bouth one, model 7140 with an incredible powerfull processor m-5Y71 !!!  Only $150, in great condition.

It has not LAN connection but I have used USB3.0 to LAN Gigabit  Adapter and connected my Odyssey without any problems.

I Installed PowerSDR MRX, Thetis and SDR-Console V3 for testing of CPU load.

Here is result in the same conditions:

PowerSDR:
48 кГц - 12%
96 кГц - 15%
192 кГц - 20%
384 кГц - 25%
1152 кГц - 33%

Thetis:
48 кГц - 22%
96 кГц - 27%
192 кГц - 28%
384 кГц - 32%
1536 кГц - 60%

SDR-Console V3:
48 кГц - 16%
96 кГц - 16%
192 кГц - 16%
384 кГц - 18%
1536 кГц - 20%

I lounched SDR-Console V3 again this morning ang CPU loading was only 10% with 192 kHz. Don't know why.

A few fotos. You can see my Ody-2 in the new double-size housing together with 50W HFPU boards.

Hi All,

In order to provide full support for this excellent transceiver I need a working unit. When boards / kits are available I will buy one. You can’t beat having the hardware to be able to provide good support.
