Re: Bias temperature compensation?

David Fainitski

Hello, Steve.
As you can see MOSFET transistor were used in this design so don't need to use a temperature compensation.
The most of factory transceivers don't have that.
Also, I don't know what is connection between T.compensation and IMD problem. I know that without its there is problem of overheat simple BJT transistors.

Best regards, David

The Odyssey-2 and 50W PA go on DX-pedition to Madagascar !

David Fainitski

Alex K2BB and his friend Paul UU0JR will be active as 5R8R from Nosy Be Island (IOTA AF-057), Madagascar during November 19-29, 2018

They are planning to have typical 160-10m CW/SSB/Digi dx-pedition activity and participate in CQ WW CW contest in multi-single category, maybe multi-two if we have enough operators...

They will have 2 stations...
Radios, so far: Kenwood TS-590, Icom IC-7300, Elecraft KX3 just in case, Odyssey 2 SDR for fun, one radio will have Elecraft KPA-500 amplifier, second station will be 100W
Antennas, so far: 2 verticals covering 160-80-40-30m, a Spiderbeam for 20...10m and possibly a Beverage if we have enough space for it.

He also invites other radio amateurs to join in this trip.

Hi.
I will try to assemble a couple pieces.
Now I drow schematic, it is important.

I want also to sell this amp that I have now and will try assembly another in doublesize case. I hope install the Odyssey and amp in one case together.

So if somebody want to buy this amp write me a message.

David

Hi people.
Finally, I can introduce you to an amplifier as a complete design.

I will draw a schematic and prepare a BOM in near future.

Hello, people

Today the amp was finished and took a test with 1 hour continiously  transmitting on 14 and 3.5 MHz band with 50 Watts output power.
The LPF cores heat with acceptable level but being installed in the housing 100% power cycle  most likely will not be achieved.
Red cores T50-2 lose their properties at 55 Celsius degrees and LPF does not work until they cool down less then 50.
The black ones work without degradation up to 60, I don't know what is the highest limit.
The heatsink heats up to 47 degrees Celsius and then their temperature keep in this level with big 80mm fan, with low speed and noiseless.

The amplifier can provide 70 Watt output power with acceptable output signal quality.
Up to 120 Watts could be reached with 1:4 output transformer but I think the LPF cores will not fill well.

I will write documentation  and draw schematic for this device.

Thanks David,
On the shipito.com review I gave them a full report on the DPD problem.
DPD is and always has been no problem in the years I have had deliveries from them.

Only problem is their website and getting in contact with them by phone or via their online email application.
The email details all get filled in then goes nowhere when SUBMIT is clicked.

In this case the Ody board can be like reexport so you don't need to pay again but for proof this need to spend a time.

Now in USA I don't  face this problem, thanks gods.
