Questions on Odyssey

73w3sz@...

Hi,

I've received my Odyssey and am having fun with it with several softwares.  I have several questions.  Thanks in advance!

1.  What is the pinout for the DB9 connector?
2.  How can I change the IP address of the Odyssey?
3.  I use my own software in addition to the "usual" openHPSDR software.  Can I treat the Odyssey as a Hermes with version 2.9 firmware when I write my code?  Are there any Hermes 2.9 firemware features that are unavailable with the Odyssey?

Thanks again and

73,

Roger Rehr

Setting up Odyssey

leskep@...

Hi All

Just received my Ody on Monday and have just got around to trying to set it up on ZS1 software but the version I have on the computer is looking for a USB connection to it - so no go there

The link David supplied does not work either

Download the trial version of ZeusRadio here httpscloud.mail.rupublicLv4Gzg3CrhUow

I also have the latest version of PowerSDR mRX v3.3.7 on my computer and I am using Davids instructions

After connecting LAN version go to connections settings and set in TCPIP properties manually mode with

IP 192.168.2.100 and subnet mask 255.255.255.0.

I need some help to get the settings right for this screen - where do I put in the subnet mask settings

At moment I have a steady orange light  and an occasionally blinking green light on the ethernet socket
which is plugged into a switch that I used for my Anan-100D

Any help appreciated

Hi   -   I am still waiting on delivery of my Odyssey - hopefully next week

I intend to wait until David makes the matching Linear as per his published material - I need only 14 watts to drive my BLA 350 to full output
In the meantime when I get it I shall use it only for RX and get to know it

Re: eth0/wifi

Hello, Dave.
The KEY connector has three contacs -Ground, Contact 1, Contact 2.
Make a short circuit between contact and ground for using.

In simple mode, CW, Contact 1 is straight key, Contact 2 PTT.
In iambic mode CW, Contact 1 is Dot, Contact 2 is Dash
In SSB and other modes, both contacts are PTT.

Iambic mode can use with PowerSDR, ZeusRadio and QUISK + OKM ( Odyssey Key Master)
All this programms work under Windows.

Under Linux try to use GHPSDR Ghpsdr3 - HPSDRwiki

or QT Radio  QtRadio - Operation - Ghpsdr3 SDR project

Hello Dave.
Yes, this problem is famous and happens sometimes with Windows and Linux.
Notable that on my latest Windows 10 and Orange PI PC with the Ubuntu Vivid Lxde there is no this problem.
This problem exists because of  incorrect setting metrics for the connections.
The system is not understending  which of them primary and secondary.

Please use Google for searching a solution.

I can saggest to you to try also openHPSDR programm for Android devices by John Melton. He can present also a new soft under RPI on the nearest Fridrichshaffen.

Sorry have no video camera, its not perfect but it does work, drops out occasionally similar to using
odyssey with wifi only. The biggest problem I have is I am unable to use internet, when odyssey is connected to computer,
so unable to use WSPR, if anyone knows the solution to this it would be appreciated.(Linux only no windows.)

Re: Future Plans ?

With the Odyssey boards now complete and shipped I was wondering if you had any future plans to 1) produce and market additional transceivers and 2) to produce a VHF transverter and HF amplifier? I am hopeful the ODY I have on the way will work well in a remote VHF application but I can see myself needing an additional unit or two in the future. I would think that when the word gets out, the ODY could become quite popular.

Quick start with ZeusRadio

David Fainitski

ZeusRadio - is very  powerful, functional and comfortable programm can works with Odyssey nativelly.

After connecting LAN version go to connections settings and set in TCP/IP properties manually mode with IP 192.168.2.100 and subnet mask 255.255.255.0.

Odyssey has permanently IP adress 192.168.2.160 for mai receiver and HPSDR mode and 192.168.2.161 for additional second receiver (not for HPSDR mode).

After connecting USB version will appear new LAN board in your OS and all settings is same as simple LAN version. If not appear  new LAN, check your My Computer folder - need to appear new CD-disk with drivers. If not - try to install driver automatically or manually, need RTL8153 driver.

Wi-Fi version of Odyssey contains a mini router inside that tuned as a bridge with Odyssey board. You can set the IP connection as well as for LAN version or  use automatic IP set mode. In this case IP will installed inside needed subnet automatically as 192.168.2.xxx. Odyssey board will available by IP 192.168.2.160  in any event.

So, no difference for using between LAN, USB or Wi-Fi version.

If you need to backup settings for WiFi module - download It here.

Download the trial version of ZeusRadio here https://cloud.mail.ru/public/Lv4G/zg3CrhUow

This is experimental version with the very quality synchro-AM stereo decoder.

For starting just click on Odyssey.bat

For starting the second independed receiver, you need click to HiQSDR.bat  after changing his content on

"start ZeusRadio.exe hiqsdr ip=192.168.2.161"

Manual for ZeusRadio Deutsche http://ssb.de/download/zs-1_manual_de_v2.8.pdf

English http://ssb.de/download/zs-1_manual_en_v2.8.pdf

ZeusRadio can provide very quality sound processing with the possible to use professional VST plugins.

Also, you can use  TX predistortion (manually),  MIDI devices for control, CAT control and much more.

You can use receivers wich support ExtIO.dll with ZeusRadio, RTL-SDR dongle, SDR-IQ, Winradio etc.  Put needed Extio.dll into ZeusRadio folder and click on ExtIO.bat

Trial version of this program is fully operational and needed restart every 10 minutes.

You can buy It only for 50 $, write a letter to Yan Alexeenko alexeenko@...
