Network in a box

Jerry Tibor

Hi All,

A former NUGA member, Greg Morgan, is now living in Colorado and sent me the following question to pose to the NUGA list:

“I wanted to pick your brain if I could. I am working on building a series of networks in a box and know that some of the NUGA crew had done similar things in the past. Do you have any insight or recommendations for a good locking case that would house a 9-10U network and be able to travel on a plane potentially as luggage or be shipped via FedEx, UPS, or USPS?

I appreciate your input.

Cheers,

Greg Morgan <gamorgan@...>

I think it was Datrium that did a demo recently using this: https://www.pelican.com/us/en/professional/rack-mount-cases/

Hi Jerry,

I also used Pelican, but be aware if you do not box it you will see handle and wheel damage on occasion. It is also not going to stand up to sitting in the rain if it is not bagged and boxed.

It will probably be too heavy to go as luggage.

https://www.alaskaair.com/content/travel-info/baggage/checked-bags

"No single piece of checked baggage may weigh more than 100 pounds and/or exceed 115" (linear). Contact Alaska Air Cargo at 1-800-225-2752 for assistance with any items that exceed the checked baggage limitation. Exception: Musical instruments."
