Parent's University
Timothy B. Trueblood
Hello NUGA members,
Here's a call for participation to 3 to 5 members: On Thursday, April 27th, North Star Elementary School administration and staff are hosting the second Parent's University of the school year 2016-2017. We anticipate welcoming eager families at 6:00 pm and expect the event will be concluded by 7:30 pm. Thanks to sponsors of the event: Anchorage International Rotary Club for donation of computer hardware and supporting financial grants; and to Network Users Group Alaska for donated computer hardware and all the work recycling computer systems in preparation for this event. Tim Trueblood, a member of both sponsor organizations, is calling for volunteers to assist in transferring computer systems to the 13 recipient families. To those intending to be part of this enjoyable evening, check-in will be at North Star Elementary School, 605 West Fireweed Lane, Computer Lab, by 5:30 pm. If you are a member of NUGA, come help us mentor the families in Windows 10 Professional, Office 2010 and the assembly/disassembly of their new systems. Should you be a member of AIRC you are welcome to step up to mentoring, but there is also a need to meet and greet the families and well as assisting them to locate their designated new computer system. In any event, come and watch the excitement! Please RSVP Tim Trueblood at ttrueblood@.... -- Tim Trueblood cell: 907 441-0319 land: 907 272-1627 _fax: 907 272-1628 If you think backup is painful, try recovery without it!

FW: Association of Continuity Professionals - Chapter Meetings
Jerry Tibor
All,
There is now a chapter of the Association of Continuity Professionals in Alaska. Details are below.
Jerry
From: Debbie Shannon [mailto:debbie.shannon@...]
Sent: Monday, April 24, 2017 11:49 AM To: jftibor@... Subject: Association of Continuity Professionals - Chapter Meetings
It would be greatly appreciated if you could disseminate this information to the NUGA group:
We recently started a local (Greater Alaska) chapter of the Association of Continuity Professionals (ACP). We would like to invite you and/or other individuals within your organization who are involved in business continuity, disaster recovery, emergency management, risk management, and other similar disciplines.
The ACP fosters the growth of the business continuity industry through its network of industry experts, education, and the exchange of information and best practices. It is a resource for business continuity professionals to facilitate the timely resumption of business operations following a significant interruption of a businesses and community.
We meet monthly on the first Wednesday (the next meeting is Wednesday, May 3) from 9-10 a.m. at 2550 Denali St, 11th Floor, Anchorage, AK 99503. A conference bridge information can be provided if you are not able to attend in-person.
The purpose of the meetings is to: · Share knowledge with and gain insight from a network of industry practitioners, · Expand skill sets through an extensive knowledge base of resources, and · Earn professional education credits for membership and meeting attendance.
If you are struggling to execute an enterprise Business Impact Analysis (BIA), generate needed senior leadership buy-in, or enhance the alignment between your business and IT, this ACP group can provide dialog to address these areas. These meeting can be an economical alternative to out-of-town conferences as the Chapter addresses the unique environment, needs, and culture of Alaska.
We look forward to having your organization participate at the next ACP meeting!
Debbie

Sorry Wayne...as you can see I haven't been on my email in a couple days. I work on Elmendorf and live in Palmer. If you still have it let me know how you'd like to set up a time/place to meet and I'll be there. Randy

Do you still have the 3560 switches (L2/L3) 24-port PoE 10/100 @ $50 each? If so I'll take them off your hands.
