Many bug fixes and updates.

The question of why fldigi cannot use DTR/RTS signal line keying for CW has
been asked repeatedly.  The answer was that the developers were not able to
produce accurate timing.  That problem may finally be solved.

Please note that CW keying is now available using a serial port DTR or RTS
signal line. (+12 = keydown).    I have tested the performance on a Yaesu
FT-991A using it's secondary USB serial port.  CW signaling at 5 to 40 WPM
is clean and the timing is accurate.  The DTR/RTS port can be an independent
port, or shared with the RigCat interface.

I would like feedback on this new feature.  Include specifics regarding the
transceiver and h/w interface being used.

Greetings,
I created the winlink form for Al KF5SMH.
I added the code to pop up the wind estimator.
I'm not sure why the link never made it to the final version in the winlink library.

Thanks for the additions to the form. I'll pass it on to the local folks. The sky warn people like it.

Note that the Rain total is for the season -- on the West Coast we tally annual rainfall by the rainy season that extends from July 1 to June 30 and not by the calendar year.  Your season may vary.  I also show the rainfall for the previous day as that is what my weather station reports -- midnight to midnight.  My weather station (Oregon Scientific) reports rate per hour, previous day (to midnight), and total since reset (July 1 by me).  Your weather station may differ.  I measure snow (when present) with a ruler but is it is usually gone in a day.

I see that there is a pop-up to aid in estimating wind velocity.  I hope to never have to use it but I have not found the way to trigger the pop-up.  I don't pretend to be a programmer but I can read the code and not know how to use it.  I could not get the pop-up to trigger in Winlink either.   Perhaps someone else can come up with the method.

I hope to use this custom form in our weekly county digi net and see how it works.  It works much better for me than the "local" METAR as the airport station is 30 miles away and 1000 feet lower in altitude and is on the other side of a 3300' high ridge, 1600 feet higher than me.  I still have the Macro for it on fldigi.

Thank you for your comments, Michael.

Yes, I did mean metric vs imperial—those are the two choices on this particular form. Metric on the form is the default (mm, cm, KM/h, C); one can change to imperial with a single click, but, since our group uses what the form calls imperial (inches, MPH, F), it would be more convenient for us to have that as the default.

Our group does not use METAR downloads and does not do any conversion; I simply want to be able to adapt the form and use it with fldigi and flmsg.

Thanks again for taking the time to comment.

Are you sure you mean metric vs Imperial? You mention mph, so I'll assume you are talking about wind speed. Other than a few TV weather people, AFAIK, almost everybody measures wind speed in knots. If you saw the form say winds xxxK, that is referencing knots, not kilometers.

Regarding weather, about the only difference you likely see is in temperature using Celsius or Fahrenheit. That will often be dependent on which agency and what type of weather you are getting. Aviation weather will normally be listed in knots and Celsius. Marine weather will likely be knots and Fahrenheit. Local emergency services will be a crap shoot. Everything around here uses Fahrenheit, but winds could be knots or mph, just depends on the agency.

With the forms, you can generally just put in whatever you want unless they are decoding METAR downloads or something, in which case you'll need to rewrite the conversion program you are using. If it's just a label on the form, there are a variety of ways to edit the form to customize it for your purpose.

The comment is that it is a terrific form! I’d like to adapt it for possible local use.
The questions are:
- How can one change the default measure from “Metric” to “Imperial”? A simple click can change the measure, of course, but our club uses inches/MPH, so it would be convenient to have that as the default.
- How does one activate the pop-up that gives the “General Guidelines for Estimating Wind Speeds”? The guidelines can be seen in the source code, and a pop-up is apparently in the code, too, but I don’t see how to activate it when viewing the form in a browser.
Thanks in advance for any help.

Flamp file recovery

KG7D Greg

In the event Flamp, or the entire computer, crashes, and I loose everything in the received que. If the file, lets call it greg.txt, was 100% received it was automatically saved, but if it was only 98% its gone. I'm looking to recover not only the file, in part of full, but the file with the same checksum / serial number {XXXX}. To allow me to receive a "Fill" of the missing blocks, or to "Fill" missing blocks for someone else.
If the file greg.txt is reloaded into the TX Que, it assigns a new checksum / Serial number and  FLamp considers it a new or different file. Making sending or receiving fills of the original file impossible.

Is this information contained in debug_log.txt? And if so, how do I use it? Is there a way to assign a checksum / serial number to another copy of a file?

Thank you in advance for your help,
Greg - KG7D

I looked at your code and would like to make a couple of comments , hopefully taken constructively.
1) You have a div callled pop1 , which is never called from the displayed page that I can tell. Extraneous or Leftover data from original coding?
2) The CSS also looks to be extraneous.
3. Attached is an edited version with 206 lines of code v.s. 443 lines. [12969 bytes v.s. 18272 bytes ]
Since the goal is to send this code via radio , a reduction of almost half the size will mean a transmission time of half.
I am quite comfortable with old HTML and use CSS when it’s really needed ( rarely IMHO ).
Hope this helps.

custom form to just report things like the temperature, wind,
humidity etc.

The custom form process in Flmsg is a nice feature. I just
can't get
my HTML skills up enough to design a nice looking form.

I am quite comfortable with old HTML and use CSS when it’s really needed ( rarely IMHO ).

This is not my code.
The only thing I did was modify the code presented to me to make it work in flmsg.
I took out a bunch of code but make no claim to it being coded to any standard except to work with flmsg.

Re: Weather Form

Larry,

Thanks so much, it looks great. Now I can take readings from my local weather station and send it using Flmsg.

I added:

<META NAME="EDITABLE" CONTENT="true">
<META NAME="MENU_ITEM" CONTENT="Local Weather">

After the <head> tag to make it show up in the list of Custom Forms.

Thanks again, 73, Ron NY3J

That's what I was thinking. I usually use the WX macro and have the
METAR data pop up. Then copy and paste to an Flmsg. I thought it
would
be cool to have a custom form to enter that information from the
macro
or if someone had a weather station at their QTH then use that data.

Re: Problem with WX report section - followup

Michael WA7SKG

First, be certain you are using the latest or at least a recent version of fldigi (I'm using 4.1.08).

The default configuration should be fine. Don't fool with or worry about the URL at all. If you have made any changes in the WX Configuration page, click the DEFAULT button at the end of the URL box, then click SAVE and CLOSE.

For initial testing purposes, simply RIGHT click on an empty macro button. The macro editor will come up. In the Macro Text box, type
<WX:KHSV> . In the Macro Button Label box, type WX, the click Apply, then Close.

You should now see a Macro Button labeled WX. Click that macro button and you should get your weather report in the lower Transmit window. Once you verify that works, you can further edit the macro with your TX and other commands. Create additional macros for your other locations.

The only way I can see that you received the file you referenced is if you intentionally changed the source URL in the WX configuration page. There is no need to change that URL from the default.

HTH,
Michael WA7SKG
