    Hello Ole,

    That's great.

I have just sent a test version to another OM which should fix a "bug" for Android devices without GPSs. I hope I get some feedback soon on this version.

I have already updated the user n\manual. So hopefully the new version to be available by the weekend.

    All the best,

    73, John

    Hi John,

Just installed 1.3.12RD1 and tested  with ICS 309 from the Great Shakeout exercise.  It works a treat!  Thanks!

AndFlmsg has always seemed to me to be a potentially very useful tool when this part of the world is hit with the M9 CSZ earthquake off of the northwest Pacific Coast.. Communities on the coast and along the inland corridor from northern California (NOCAL  :) potentially to the north end of Vancouver Island could be without communications for days.  Regarding cell service, texting is being suggested as immediately more available than voice.

This tool could benefit not only amateur radio emergency responders, but also emergency workers such as CERT and others who do not hold amateur radio licenses.

There are some folks around in Oregon, Washington and I'd suspect B.C. who might be interested in these capabilities.

I had the thought that it might be useful to mention this utility via their nets to the Oregon District One ARES group (six counties around metro Portland OR) and to the weekly Portland Net-Net which focuses on local PDX neighborhood responders.  I'd be happy to give it a go if ok with you.  If so, one question might be, when might the latest version be posted to Source Forge?

    Neat tool. Thanks again!

    Kindest regards, 73 de  Ole'

    Ole Helgerson KI7MBR

    Hi John,

    Success!  I typed in a long ICS 309 and tested two treatments;
    • a) send as; plain text >> WRAP
    • b) send as; plain text >> RAW-FLMSG
    Results:

Treatment a); similar string of alphanumeric code as before
Treatment b); yippee!  line after line of my gibberish data looking just it was entered, but the short hand for "time," "from," "to,"  all loud and clear.

How about that.  Something positive to report on.  Further, the image appears here because I emailed it to my own address.  Thus the *.png file is also available for attaching to Fldigi or Winlink as the occasion might require.  Cool beans.

Thanks greatly again for your assistance.  Apologies for being a bit slow on the uptick. 73 KI7MBR  Ole'  :)

    Hi Ole,

    Further information on this.

Your message may well have been received over SMS properly. Let me explain.

The default in Andflmsg for the setting "Force compression" is off.

This means that when sending a message the app will only compress if it saves transmission characters.

This only occurs when the size of the message reaches a sufficient size.

This explains why one liners are sent in clear text and larger multiline ones are compressed.

A compressed messages has all its data part, not the header (form and filename for a wrap format, origin  etc...) enclosed by the following strings: "[b64:start]" and "[b64:end].

As long as your received wrap message ends with [WRAP:end] it arrived complete and can be imported into Flmsg.

    See example below.

Now this feature may not be desirable and can be removed for sharing messages. In fact if the format selected is Raw-Flmsg it should not be compressed anyway.

So I need to change a fee things.

Let me know if that is matching what you see.

    All the best

A critical error has been discovered in flrig 1.3.52.  It will cause a segmentation fault which closes the program.  This fault only occurs if you attempt to change fonts from the memory dialog:

DO NOT press the "Font" button.

A fix has been created and will be included in a follow up release of flrig 1.3.53.  Sorry for the inconvenience.

    Hi John,

Apologies for tardy reply.  I compared the above with a test message I sent to myself and the headers and footer are samey-same with variation for time of sending etc. .  I have "NOCAL" for call sign.  Now I know what that stands for.  It'd been a puzzle wondering why Northern California, e.g. NOCAL was being referenced....:)

    OK David.

I plan to transmit the MFSK Wide modes this weekend on Shortwave Radiogram.

In the meantime, the audio for the experiment is here ...

This 9 minute, 25 second mp3 file includes a news story about volcanoes on Jupiter’s moon Io.

The text is is divided roughly equally (by number of characters) into four parts:

    MFSK32 3:11

    MFSK32WIDE 2:54

    MFSK64WIDE 1:48

    MFSK64 1:33

    Kim,

Be sure to notify your listener audience if you decide to include the MFSK wide modes in an HF/AM broadcast.  Those mode are only in 4.1.15.05 and higher.  These are experimental modes and may or may not be a permanent part of the fldigi modem suite.  Your broadcast results will be invaluable to the developer, John KF4YFD.

Fldigi 4.1.15.05 works fine on my W10 machine.

I do have a question though. This has been going on for many versions for me. When I put a call in the call box and I click on the QRZ globe, it brings me to the QRZ.com site and populates the calls information. It will not fill in the rest of the boxes on the program, qth, op, st, L or azmith. As I said QRZ works fine. when I click on the notetab, I get a QRZ error: username/ password required. I have tried many things but I haven't got that to work again.
