Suggestion: Filtering of duplicate Pocsag Messages
df6dbf@...
Hello,
is it possible to add the Option to filter duplicate Messages in Pocsag in one of the next Releases? 73s Holger, DF6DBF

Hello Holger,
Do you mean the following rule: if a POCSAG message is received at step n, if it is repeated at, let’s say, step n+1, n+2 or n+3, the repeated message will not be displayed?

Yes,
for example: I got here often 5 times the same Message. So it would be convinient to display only the first Message and filter all following. 73s Holger

Hello Holger,
>for example: I got here often 5 times the same Message. Yes but 5 times in a row or separated (in this case , by about how many messages)? The best would be to paste a copy of what you receive: click on the “QSO” button and copy the text so I can see what happens. The goal is to make a precise “rule”.

Hello Patrick,
have here an Example received from a nearby Pager from the Fire Department (The Message itself is deleted for security reasons, but the Text was in all Messages identical). In this case i think we have 1 Message, transmitted from 2 sites. 73s Holger

Well you have a message sent to two different pager IDs but theres nothing to suggest it is a single message sent from two sites (which would not be an efficient use of transmitters and would also be likely to cause data collisions) PDW (dedicated pager software - free) would allow you to filter the duplicates plus give meaningful labels to the two pager IDs (so you could have station names, officer names, mobile unit identities etc.) eg. 1234561 / London F321 PL Stoke Newington 1234562 / London F322 P Stoke Newington 1234565 / London H312 P Croydon 1111117 / Manchester Fire Investigation Officer Both the pump and pump ladder might get the same mobilisation message and you would want to know that...if you filtered all duplicate messages you wouldn't know how many or which units were mobilised PDW has far more options for filtering messdages so you can customise filters to only show certain keywords (such as specific incident types, or a specific locale) Multipsk is perhaps good as an introduction to pager decoding or to see if some transmission is pagers (though you can probably do that by ear anyway)....however, it is VERY limited.

Hello Holger,
OK I see. I will simply propose to remove a message if the previous message is the same.
Note about names relative to addresses. It is reminded that it exists a new possibility to associate number to name (“Open POCSAG.TXT” button ), for your local POCSAG transmitters:
/Personal file containing correspondences between addresses (always 7 figures) and names, written by the user /If the user knows a correspondence, for example, between "0285106" and "John Smith", he/she can add (without the first "/"): /0285106 John Smith /In this case, if 0285106 is found by Multipsk, it will be displayed [John Smith-Alpha] instead [0285106-Alpha]
