Re: SELCALL Flightaware combo box

Hello Thierry,

On reception of a SELCAL, Multipsk looks for the SELCAL in the SELCAL_DICTIONARY.txt file (in the Multipsk package).
If the SELCAL found, it is displayed for example "AJFQ EI-ELA A333 EIN". With the registration "EIELA", Multipsk starts (on user request) Flightaware which gives you data about the plane.
Now, if the received SELCAL is not in SELCAL_DICTIONARY.txt ("ELGJ" is not inside for example), nothing is displayed in the combo box).

Hello Sergio,

 

TKS for the new data. However, better would be to simply attach the new updated VDL2_Ground_Stations.txt file. So the ones interested by VDL2 reception will be able to have the last and best version by copying this file to their Multipsk directory.

Yes, Patrick, a challenge, and the data flow amounts to almost 500 GB/day! But with a 85+ cm dish and "satellite TV" quality equipment reception of the Basic Service data should be OK. You can see what equipment folk are using here:

For a couple of days already I have been unable to get any usable signals from the 10E position.
This includes the Eumetcast data stream from Eumetsat.
I used to get this transponder as well as other transponders of this satellite via my 1m Gibertini dish
and a Black Ultra LNB..
I am in Northern Bavaria near Nürnberg.
Has any of you Eumetcast users made a similar experience and has been able to counter this by increasing the size of his dish ?
Which size do you use now - where is your location, please ?

Many users are still getting EUMEYCast, so the problem is with your system. Power levels from the EUTELSAT 10A satellite haven't changed significantly as you can see from the graphs here:

The W1 satellite is no longer operative in the 10ºE position, now there is only the Eutelsat 10A. You are inside the footprint zone of 48dBW maximum signal, so with a dish between 60-75 cm you would have to receive the satellite. With a plate of 1 m you will get more signal. I’m in the immediate south-east of Paris.

 

Hervé in the North of France receives also the C band transmissions. There must be a certain zone where the signal is comfortable and decreasing outside.

No it would be the same (and I’m not going to purchase a 2 m dish). And it’s better to know that, with a 1.1 m dish, it is perhaps possible to monitor C band, but not everywhere: south of England and North of France (if Hervé confirms that he receives 3F5) as far as I know.

I don't know what part of France you're in but I wouldn't have thought the signal strength would be much less than from here in South UK (your dish size is the same as mine - also offset).

The problem with a larger is dish is that it demands more accurate pointing which in turn makes it more difficult to find the signal.

I find it difficult to believe you're going to give up that easily :)  - There, I've thrown down the challenge for you to give it another go :)
