Re: TCP/IP interface with SDRplay - Multipsk test version 3

Hi Patrick,

You got it!  VHF Packet/APRS (1200) is working perfectly now on my receive.

Don't know if you worked in an area of the code that would affect ORBCOMM, but it seems to decode better too.

Thanks,

Fred

TCP/IP interface with SDRplay - Multipsk test version 3

Patrick Lindecker

Hello to all,

Here is the Multipsk test version 3 which fixes a bug on Multipsk, bug which generated a distortion http://f6cte.free.fr/MULTIPSK_4_39_1_test_version_3.zip

Paste this address in your Internet Explorer or equivalent. Download the file.
First, make a copy of the your Multipsk folder, in case of…

Extract the Multipsk.exe file (+ manual files + files for interfaces) and replace the “official” Multipsk.exe (+ manual files) with these test version files.

Thanks for reports.

I suppose that you mean with the DLL. Can you test if it works with the RTL/SDR on Packet, but via the TCP/IP way, i.e. by clicking on the “rtl_sdr.exe” (same working as with the SDRplay), as I suspect the decimation from 2 MHz to 250 KHz to introduce a certain distorsion.

Philip,

I have compared, on TNT receivers, TCP/IP with DLL transmission of data. TCP/IP transmissions (Rsp_tcp.exe for SDRplay and rtl_tcp.exe for TNT receivers) introduces a certain distortion of the signal. I don’t know what sort and if depends on the CPU power. This can explain the problem on Packet.

In Packet, have you demodulated in FM (at Multipsk SDR level)?

great news: in the future I will be able to control and log SDRplay with MultiPSK. Especially helpful for ALE scanning of multiple frequencies.

What is still missing is the MultiPSK, which automatically records the speech when an ALE connection is established.

So one could comfortably look at the ALE license plates after a monitoring and listen to possible voice transmissions.

Certainly a great wish of mine 😉 MultiPSK could become more and more professional with such a function!

Great system, Mike,

Love the idea of the big monitor.  I use 2 27 inch ones and they do well with all the software
(including yours) that has to run simultaneously for digital radio experimenting.

My system is a Dell XPS8930 i7-8700CPU @ 3.20GHz, 16Gig of RAM and Win 10, 64bit.

Under SDRUno, my system load is 2% with a single SDR2 and a single VRX.  I have been
able to run 12VRX's with a single radio, but that begins to push the CPU!

Thanks for the great software you share.

Great day,

Fred

VDL4 is intended to provide data support to the ADS-B surveillance with air-air links in its majority and air-ground with possibility. The modulation is Gaussian filtered Frequency Shift Keying (GFSK) and the access control Self-organizing Time Division Multiple Access (STDMA) with transmission speed of 19.2 kilobit per second (19200 bit / s).

Hi Patrick,

I managed to get the 2 RSP running together as follows:-

1. Ran the RSP2 with SDRuno running 2 VRX which then fed 2 copies of MultiPSK each copying one of the local ACARS freqs, 131.55 and 131.45 MHz

2. Then ran the RSP1 directly via the IQ settings to the 3rd copy of MultiPSK and receiving VDL2 on 136.975 MHz

3. Ran ACARS-VDL2-Display showing the output from all three copies of MultiPSK

All works fine and the CPU load running all this is currently less than 30% on an Intel i7-6700 CPU and 16gig RAM. I have also bought a 43" 4K HD monitor which enables me to open up to about 20 windows on screen simultaneously.

Hello Mike,

>It does not appear to be possible to run two RSP receivers at this time, I got the RSP2 running with MultiPSK, but when I tried to get the RSP1 running with SDRUno,

You must select distinct ports, for example 1234 for the RSP2 and 1235 for the SDRUno. Click on “Options (port and address)” to select the port.

However the CPU load will be enormous.
