Re: decoding with Multipsk online

Folks,
I tried to switch back to the RSPduo for RX, switched back the speaker in the taskbar, but I have no waterfall on Multipsk.
I am deeply ashamed for my stupidness.

My apologies !

Output sound card number mappings shuffling after PC random idle unlock (v 4.43.1)

Mark Bailey

I’m using a 7300 with latest Sinclair USB drivers, and all that works well with my Windows 10 Pro (). For some reason, instead of showing Sinclair sound device, the 7300 just shows as “Speakers (USB Audio CODEC)”. In MultiPSK, this sound device shows up as ‘Sound Card 5’:

And, sure enough, on a TX, this is the audio device in Sound Control Panel’s Playback tab that has the audio signal coming from MultiPSK to the 7300:

However, if I leave MultiPSK running, and then the idle timer kicks in to lock the screen, when I come back and unlock my PC screen after some period of time has passed, all things being equal, the output from MultiPSK is now coming out on a different soundcard # (and not always the same “wrong” one each time):

I confirmed the Sound Card (Output) is still set (as up top of this email) for the “Sound Card 5 - USB Audio CODEC”. But now, MultiPSK’s audio out is coming out one of my 2 27” LG gaming monitors, and not going to 7300 anymore. And in order to actually send audio to the 7300’s “speaker” device (computer to 7300), after a bit trial and error picking different other Playback devices, this go around, I had to set it to “Sound Card 3” (digital audio port on my PC).

In fact, the entire sound card list appears to have been shuffled randomly. When I TX now from MultiPSK, it connects to remote nodes as expected. Note that if I exit MultiPSK completely, and relaunch it, the sound card list mapping is back to what you’d expect. It’s weird.

Any takers??? :)

Hi Patrick,

All good with  new  test version) one small point with NDB decoding....choice of waterfall x2 x4.. ..x4 waterfall decoding NSB it loses the  parallel vertical twin markers around the signal....x2 its there.....x4 reverts to single vertical tuning line.
This is just a  note....it all works fine..))

Select your virtual audio cable as your default playback device so that sound is routed to Multipsk via the virtual audio cable.

Click on the speaker icon on your windows taskbar and use the list there to select the correct VAC

I used to do that with Multipsk several years ago, it worked well (turn OFF the PSKreporter feature though). I can't remember what setting I used for the soundcard , did you try it with VBaudio  instead of the default soundcard ?

decoding with Multipsk online

Lambert J. Derenette

Hello all,
I am using Multipsk with great satisfaction connected to an RSPduo (sound card input: cable output: VB-audio-Virtual)

I would like to decode different modes from webbased SDR's, I changed the sound card input to computer default sound card, but with no result.
What should I change within the program to use it to decode from a webbased SDR?

I am using a Windows 10 PC,
Thx in advance,

Lambert

Yes George, just click the QSO button in the top row of buttons and you can either Back up the QSO in process, or use the 'Regular Back-up' option which will save the screen text either hourly or down to about every 5 seconds or so. This regular back-up just saves a single file per day, saving all your decodes one after the other.

Hello Mike,

Thanks for the interesting information. All this does not seem very clear, but it is surely very complex.

Hi Patrick,

No, I have a Windows 10 Pro, but I am in the Dev Group at Microsoft, so use Windows 10 ver 21322.1000 which might have some changes compared with the normal released version. Also I am using a 43" monitor so don't know if that makes a difference.

I have also tried this on my  laptop  using the standard 64 bit version of Windows 10 Pro and also have no problems expanding Multipsk from the taskbar.

TKS. So not all the Windows 10 Pro 64 bits systems cause problems with Multipsk. Do you start Multipsk in a certain compatibility?

Dear Jef,
thanks for your kind words, i think Athens is a heavy populated area of Greece (half of Greece population is here), of course the country has the best beauties all around, either in the mountain areas or to the islands and sea. I wish us to recover fast from the pandemic restriction and feel free to travel and enjoy again, not only for our work but also for holidays. If you ever come here i will be glad for a meeting.
As for my equipment i am in the 3rd floor and i installed all Antennas (see some of them attached) to the top of the building over the 5th floor, i surrounded by other tallest buildings and  i totally loose horizon from 155-225d. Anyway i try experimenting. The best place is when i visit Crete island where we have a country home in Chania and there is a free RFI and open horizon place. One of my brothers live there, he is pensioner now, but his was in the military for almost 40 years, he served in the navy. Once upon in his life for 3 years was served in Mons NATO Base in Belgium, and i visited Belgium many time. If i don't make a mistake (as i checked in qrzcq.com) you are originated from Belgium ? Also happed to be in your country and i have only good words to say for the people and the entire country, we visited most of the cities.
In qrzcq.com you can see my profile too.
Anyway many thanks for the contact. Feel free to communicate and make you observations, we all become better following others corrections and suggestions for the good.  My email is gkonst@...
Finally as about your Antennas you use something like that, if i understand well  (it is portable and excellent for TX/RX) : https://www.moonraker.eu/spx-100-9-band-plug-n-go-hf-portable-antenna
Best Regards, i wish health and keep safe

Hello everybody!!

I use multipsk at 20/30 % of the potential because has so much functions. I use it only for receiving signal but not for transmitting because I really don’t know how to do it.. 🤷‍♂️ Anyone has the Italian manual of this super program ? ..it’s will help me to go much more inside of the functionality.. Many tks in advance.

And one more thing. When I see a node callsign that is underlined, but has a via, who am I actually hearing? The underlined node, or the via? And if more than one via, which one did I actually digipeat through?

ID de W0TX via KB9KC Ctl C UI Pid=F0 Len=31>

more then one via:

ID de W0TX via KB9KC N0HI-7 Ctl C UI Pid=F0 Len=31>

If "via" some other node that was the one I actually linked to/through, when I then initiate a connection the underlined node as the destination (that I was hearing via the "via" - confused yet???), does the "via" "closest" to me automatically respond on behalf of the underlined node (in sort of the same way proxy-arp would do in level 2 IP networking)??

Thanks!

Re: I know this may be right there in front of me, but....

OK, I see it now, and I was able to activate some.

Is there some way for MultiPSK to go into “terminal” mode when connected such that the text each was is intermingled the same way an old TNC would do so? What I’m after is being able to maintain and preserve a connection session in its bidirectional context. At least as I’m using it now, what I type and then what gets sent, then what comes back, is completely segregated. While it makes sense while the conversation or session is fresh in mind, If I wanted to select, copy and paste it for archival purposes, email it to someone else, it’d be nice to preserve which TX string was followed by its corresponding RX.

Thanks again for the pointer!

Lo único que hice y me.interesó hasta hoy es 40 metros en hf , y mapas satelitales apt en lo que quiero perfeccionarme y aún no encontré algún colega que lo domine bien y lo enseñe .

Hello George,

OK about your working condx...

I'm living in a small city, not in the centre... in an apartment on the topfloor, which helps... I use mobile whips (hamsticks) for different bands on the balcony , with the ground connected to the railing of the balcony... works quiet OK, but it needs some experimenting... but that's what ham & swl is all about...

I have been many times in Athens, I like the city very much! I have nice memories...

Have a nice WE!

Hello Dear Jef,
many thanks for your observations and suggestions !!!
I live in the center of the capital Athens, and i am surrounded by buildings and a i have a lot of interference. I don't get always the best. I do several testing with several receivers like SDR dongles and HackRF. Back in the old time i was using an AR8200.Recently I tried many times to setup my new Ailunce HS2 and a vertical SW Antenna to my QTH but always i get bad signal to my QTH (KM17vx).
Anyway i try everything AM, USB and filters like NR, NB, AGC etc. I got the best results with AM. But sometimes i think LSB works better. IC-7300 is an unbeatable receiver and always you will get the best of it in comparison with others. Ailunce HS2 has 2 modes (SDR & USB), now i am experimenting with SDR.
As for the offset tuning of center frequency, many times happens this and am  trying to fix it.
Many thanks agains
