I've not much help for you, I'm afraid, Brian - I last did that route in 1962, when there was a tractor available to pull you over the rutted dirt road pass into Yugoslavia!
The main coast road hadn't been completed, and where roadworks stopped (abruptly), we drove off the edge of the tarmac onto a heavily rutted track!
Good luck with your trip, whichever route you choose.

I'm planning a trip to Greece using Eurotunnel on 1 May.
I've been there in my previous van many years ago and travelled via Switzerland and Italy with ferry to Igoumenitsa.
I've checked out routes on ViaMichelin and quite fancy the overland route via Austria, Slovenia, Croatia, Serbia and North Macedonia.

I would welcome any tips, good places to visit en route.
I'm wondering how North Macedonia might be - it's not included in my van insurance policy.
And I would welcome recommendations for overnight parking at/near the Eurotunnel terminal at Folkstone.

Thanks folks

Are you sure? I find the sync can be out both ways. I put it down to listening to R5L on DAB. OTOH I find the commentary so well synched  as to indicate that the BBC guys are watching the same feed. Particularly if the RTL fellows interview an English speaking driver or manager after the race.

That said, I can also remember making small adjustments by pausing the picture for a few frames here and there.

I am just worried that RTL will lose its contract in 2020. But there again, it won’t be so much of an issue if they do not do something to inject a bit of excitement and tension back into F1.

Morning Ern

We get the same limited EPG on the AVTEX TV on Freesat - but full EPG on Astra 1

Like you I watch the F1 with BBC5 live for the commentary - I am now working on an audio delay box because the 5 live is 20 seconds in front of the video feed, in years gone by I would have done it with a tape loop, but that’s old tech, just working on a solution.

If I can sort that out I will have my F1 in a perfectly viewable format and not paying for an expensive “Sports” subscription - the only thing that then needs sorting is the format of F1 urself ! But that another story……

Thanks everyone, but while looking for something else, I found the original User Destructions. More by luck than anything (Quite a few of the Menu Options are no longer available.) I managed to get the thing ackling enough to scan in the Channels and tune the dish between Astra 1 & 2 - for free Formula 1 on RTL.

It seems that I am stuck for now on a Now & Next EPG option for Freesat, but, and I don’t know why, I get the full 7 days EPG on Astra 1.

All in all, manageable and not worth rushing out to buy a new one. Ah! Last resort. I still have my original Comag SL30/12 Sat Box. (Boxed with destructions and remote and put in the wardrobe at least 15 years ago..) Some doubts that it could drive my motorised dish. (USALS system.)

Brilliant list still. Thanks again,

The Icecrypt box is no longer available, but Satgear have a replacement FD45SE. You can also get used icecrypt on EBay, but I would prefer to buy from a reputable dealer

So I gather. The CEO retired and the sale of IceCrypt fell through. Someone has just taken over/registered the website. I wonder if the business is being resurrected?

A couple of years ago I was looking for a small Sky box to fit in a Motorhome locker. Guy that installed Sky sold me an old box he’d replaced for someone. Cost me a tenner and is still working.

May be worth phoning local installers or looking on eBay.

My very old Sat box has gone wonky and, big shock, IceCrypt no longer has any webpages, let alone customer support or upgrades.

Problem 1. It is unstable. Appears to go into Stand-By, but does a Re-Boot when woken up.

Problem 2. Although set correctly, the EPG does not auto-update on Stand-By.

Problem 3. Open TV EPG does nothing. Just sits there.

Overall, it still works better on Astra 1 and Atlantic than it does on FreeSat.

Does anyone have any fixes or links to help pages?

TIA

It’s expensive and will need a few years to mature.

It’s next to where Gulliver’s Valley will open next year.

About 30 cans here today.

My wife and I have both signed, but I already know what the response will be.

Like all the other parliament petitions, it is a complete waste of time.
