You can get Avast at: www.avast.com/eng/download-avast-home.html
I've used it for years and think it's excellent. It includes some
protection that AVG only has in its paid for version.

Re: [MH-list] cruise control, is it worth it?

Paul Ramwell <paul_ramwell@...>

Bertie – in my opinion, it really depends on the kind of driving you do –
and where and when.

If you do long distances on quiet roads (e.g. French motorways, late at
night etc) I would not be without it. It helps your fuel consumption by
maintaining a steady speed and is less staining on your right leg1

I travelled all the way to southern Spain in 2 days in September and I would
not have been without it!

If you are going to be pottering around, or travelling on very busy roads at
peak times – I think the benefits are less clear.

I have cruise on all 3 of my vehicles and where it did not come as standard specified it as an extra. Just come back from Germany and used it quite a lot - I find that without setting it my intended cruising speed starts to creep up so it must save a bit of fuel. I found that by using it driving on the autobahn was much less wearing with the new van over the old - but how much this was down to 3lts against the old 2lts I would not like to say. I think it is a real boon on lightly trafficed motorways etc.

To my mind, it's a luxury: keeping a foot on the gas pedal isn't that
difficult.

But apart from whether it's a luxury, consider also whether it's luxury
that you can actually use. This depends where you are driving. If you
are doing long stretches on roads which are empty enough, then you can
use cruise control, but having used a car with cruise control, I found
it very unusual to encounter such conditions in the UK, even at night on
the motorways.

I haven't tried this firm but have heard good things about them (e.g.
complete retrim £550) A1 Trimmers, Knottingley, West Yorkshire - Tel. 01977
6607976, apparently they specialise in Hymer vehicles.

As for the kitchen and bathroom refurbishment, have a word with Peter
Hambilton of Hambilton Engineering Ltd, Bee Lane, Penwortham, Preston, Lancs, PR1
9TU - Tel. 01772
315078(_http://www.friendlyhippo.co.uk/hymerdirect/index.html_ (http://www.friendlyhippo.co.uk/hymerdirect/index.html) ) - he, and his
team, have forgotten more about Hymer MH's than we'll ever hope to know. Not
cheap, but the workmanship is superb and the advice always good.

Please note I have nothing to do with either of these businesses. HTH

Is this the easiest method of chaning over to lights dipping to the left for

'Easiest way is to remove the road wheel on that side (make sure you use an
axle stand for safety), take out the inner wing liner (lots of screws), you
can then get straight at the headlamp / bulb holders.'

Regards

Lenvee

++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
Yes it is, you can get at the screws which secure the headlamp in either LH
or RH dip position - if you look from the rear (under the wing) you'll see
two screws and three holes - one of which is elongated. Remove the
non-elongated screw, loosen off the one in the elongated slot - twist the headlamp to the
other end of the slot, insert the screw you removed earlier into the third
screw hole. It should line up with the same hole in the surround from which it
was originally removed.

The same advice regarding cutting a square out of the liner applies - you
can then cthe bulb or re-align the dip as and when required. (Secure the flap
of plastic with a hinge and cover the cut edges with gaffer tape to prevent
water/muck ingress - do make sure you clean all the dirt off the plastic
otherwise the gaffer tape will not stick properly)

Re: Gas Price

Mervyn Pickard

If anyone lives or travels near a Countrywide depot, it's worth opening an
LPG account. If you tell them it's only for cooking and heating and they
will only charge you 5% VAT.

They also don't mind if you only use it once in a blue moon.

The depots are mostly around the West Midlands

I have a 1990 Hymer 670S and would like to have it upgraded. I don't
wish to buy another van as we like the size of this and to replace all
the extras we have fitted would cost an arm and a leg.(aircon, alarm,
scooter rack, solars). We are happy to spend a bit on our present one.
We are looking for a quality conversion company to re-upholster and re
fit the kitchen and bathroom dependant on costs. Can any one recommend
