Address of my home for last three years plus (previously a well-used holiday cottage) is Westfalia Club Joker, Anywhere, post code n/a - but hopefully with a good cell phone data signal.

As for that house name .... I'm in no fan club of Candid Camera or any tv prank show. Blame the builders from over there in Germany, where a joker is seen as the wild card in the pack. It can be anything.

Turns out for me to be a home.

Yes, I'm living in roughly 5m x 2.5m of space - seasonal wardrobe changes, bedding, cheese, bread and all. Oh yes, a tipple or two as well. Talk about downsizing. Not had nightmares yet, but the day of reckoning will come - two separate storage areas with life-long accumulated possessions out of sight and refuse-to-look-at mind.

You may understand my day-to-day laissez-faire with the attached illustration* of fairly easy life with having only minimum essentials. Include Covid-permitting different views with no council tax, utility bills, mortgage, or gutters to clear. Minor in comparison are the vehicle insurance, maintenance costs and pitch fees.

Dawning though - age and reality of this rapidly changing new world. Brix'n-mortar it seems I must explore.

* The attached image, like an architect's plans, needs spreading out on the table. On screen means you'll have to zoom in and scroll around.

I have come across a helpful Facebook Group "Road Trip: UK to Greece & Back" which might be helpful to some. There seem to be quite a few folk driving both ways and reporting on their experience.

I never considered a Caravan when we were swapping from camping in a tent and this largely down to an accident that literally missed us by about 10 metres, when we were traveling up from Exmoor on the M5 to Bristol. We were in the outside lane thankfully doing 70ish and in the slow lane a big Toyota Land Cruiser towing a Caravan a big one too, it was trundling along at about 50ish. Just as we were drawing level and for no discernible reason the Caravan started snaking, which pulled the Land Cruiser all over the place. As we past, the driver over compensating trying to control the rig, it swerved behind us, I honestly thought it was going to hit us, it smashed into and partly over the central reservation. Carnage, how it hit no other vehicles I'll never know, more luck than judgement.

Two reasons to remember that day, the other was far more tragic. It was the 11th Sept 2001.

This one would be for both vehicles so adds another £40 . What do other people do ... the list of additions seem endless and trying not to end up paying for things which arent necessary. I’ll check the Darnall one when I next pass. The garage between M1 J34(N) and IKEA did have a pump last time I went there, but that’s quite some time ago.

Thanks for that Martin.

We managed ok to fill up 19.5 litres at 59.7p/litre at Morrisons Catcliffe yesterday.

We had almost used one Gaslow bottle full over 3 chilly nights at the THS at Harrogate! At that usage the option of £4 a day for electric hookup doesn't work out much dearer.

I think the BP in Darnall Sheffield still has it.

I haven't noticed any problems. But then hardly ever go to the group's
website - just expect postings to drop into my inbox, paying no
attention to times. Grateful though that it delivers at weekends,
unlike the royal mail !

My best was 32.2 p/ltr in the EU and then 33.9 p/ltr in the UK. Both in
2006.
Suggests that groups.io is having similar problems as the Yahoo list.

Re: LPG

Steve,

The garage at Anston sells it. On A57 the one after the lights heading towards Worksop - it’s about 3 miles from M1 J31.

I last filled up in November when it was 73.9p per litre. I’m far more concerned about availability than price.

Our local places closed but there's a small garage out in the sticks fairly near us but it was 70p recently!!

I'll try Morrisons at Catcliffe Rotherham next time. I hope they haven't stopping selling it to motorhomers as they were at some of their sites.

Re: LPG

I rang "Autocare and Autogas Logistics" in Stonehouse to check that they had stock. Apparently their tanker delivery was late and they had had a number of Motorhomes topping up recently and could not guarantee to fill my tanks. An excellent response in my mind and I will be using them in the future, accordingly I made the trip to Evesham.
