My mum, who passed away only last week , swore by the
following method for getting rid of ants in the home. She would
wait until midnight and then ask the ants to "please leave my

neighbours would have thought if they ever saw her having a
"chat" to a line of ants at that time of night. Mind you she

Wild camping in France now illegal?

Trevor Mace <macet416@...>

Just come back from Ile de Re and wild camped 7 out of 9 nights, but it was
difficult! We were moved on once by a stroppy frenchman and there were
plenty of signs around saying no wild camping - however the Tourist Office
gave information about locations were it was possible for just one night
(was this out of date info?)

I see in C&C magazine May 2003 issue that a recent French law
has made wild camping illegal in France. Is this taking
people by surprise, or has it been expected?

I do a bit of web design and to tell the truth if you cannot access the
web space with ws_ftp it is unlikely you will be able to with DW4.

If you want to email me at bob@informalsolutions.co.uk with any error

Thanks a lot to Buff Eagle and Dave for their helpful advice
re GPS. I bought infomap plus Haicom HI203(for the laptop)
from Spotlight Global Positioning Systems(thanks Buff for the
review) for just under £99.00 , but before I did I went on
EBAY and found exactly the same new system from a seller, I
bid until the bidding went to over £100.00 then ordered from
Spotlight. The bidding went to £111.00 also the postage was
£5.50 compared to Spotlight at £2.95. So OK I only saved
£14.60 but you would expect auctions to be cheaper.

On a separate note and I realise nothing to do with
Motorhoming, I was wndering if there were any computer buffs
out there that could help me. I have a business website for my
driving school that was built for me by a grateful pupil. I
have the ftp codes for it and successfully updated it from
time to time using Terrapin but it was time limited so went
onto WS_FTP PRO and smart FTP but found that with neither
programme could I establish a connection with the site to
upload or update files. I have Dreamweaver 4 and have been
told there is a powerful FTP software programme in it but for
the life of me I cannot find it. Any help would be
appreciated, but to leave this site free please reply to
martin@drivingcentre.freeserve.co.uk
Thanks Martin

Do any of you have
experience of tiny televisions
I borrowed this exact model (the 5.5in B&W jobbie) from my brother when I stayed
outside his place for 2 weeks recently. It's - er - ok. The tuning is ridiculoulsy sensitive
though. Overpriced at this shop - you can get them for 20 quid elsewhere.

If anyone can recommend a
particular make or model, I would be grateful.
I bought a 'Lilliput' 7in colour LCD for 150 quid from a Chinese lady living in Ulster last
week. She presumably imports them direct. The TV is good.

When at home with access to
a proper aerial, can you plug it in and get a better picture?
Yes - reception is _the_ main point.

Am I right that you don't need a license for a black and white tv these
days?
Last time I looked, B&W licences cost 30 quid. I could be out-of-date though.

Cheers,
-Steve Wilson

Don't know where the 'Ile de Re' is exactly, but I'd hazard a guess it's probably a tourist
trap. If so, then it stands to reason that such will be the first (and hopefully) only places
to have such a law rigorously enforced.

Steve, You are right. The island has dozens of campsites and Aires.
It seems mean-spirited to try and freeload in this very popular part
of the Atlantic coast. It cetainly is not Wild Camping and spoils it
for the rest of us.

Re: [MH-list] Digest Number 1859

Mike <mike@...>

I am thinking of selling my house and using the equity to buy a large
(haven't decided on a large European or American RV) motorhome and go
through France and Spain.
I have a partner and two kids(+dog).
At the moment I live in Somerset and work in London - I have resigned
my job and the house is on the market.
Unfortunately I probably don't have enough equity to buy a house
outright in Spain but since reading and getting 'into' MotorHomes I
am thinking that it may be possible to survive for up to two years
while we;

a: Learn the Lingo
b: Find out where we want to put down roots
c: just have a godamm adventure!

Have I gone barking mad or is this do-able!

I would appreciate any thoughts and advice on this.
bty - hopefully I would have about £80000 but I would want to stash
at least £30000 for any 'egg on face' scenarios.
We're all mad. You have to be...
:)

Just a thought;
It sounds like the kind of adventure that a TV production company
might be interested in...
Theres a bit of a rash of relocation programmes around, but this
sounds different enough to work.

You might have to put up with a film crew following you around for a
bit and also get used to taping yourselves, but it could generate
some income.

Try making a few enquiries via Channel 4 (or 5?)

Hilary, just as a matter of interest, why do some of your words
have a little "worm" either side of them? Is it good grammar or
just a quirk with yours/my computor? Dont seem to have one on

P.S. Just found ~it~. Still not ~sure~ of the reason though.

...apparently.

I dont know what its used for either though...

WOW!!! You couldn't knit it for that!! It is a similar type to the one
Steve used. You couldn't call it "reassuringly expensive" could you!

Look at the Netto website...

loguePages/13?opendocument

You mention being in the Netto carpark overnight, and I should just mention
that we stayed overnight at a Sainsburys car park recently . . . Hugh went
in and said that he knew that Tesco let campers park overnight but he wasn't
sure what Sainsbury's policy was . . . the manager said yes but for one
night only. Just near Wakefield. We bought a fresh curry from them . .
.Jalfreysi or some such name, and it was delicious.

They are keeping quiet about the win because they just don't want my begging letters.
