Looking at that sign I am not at all sure how to stay within the "Law"!.
If I arrive a 10 am on a Monday and buy 3 tickets does that mean I am OK to park in that position without moving until 8am on Thursday when I must to leave? I assume so however the 10pm to 8am wording questions this.
As an aside why are caravans excepted? I ask as I currently have a parking fine to be responded to at Aberystwyth. The car park in question apparently does not allow parking of motorhomes but a car and caravan are accepted! Day parking only in either case. Overnight Verboten!

All, from my experience of folk migrating to Facebook from vintage e-mail & lists such as this then they then fail to lower themselves to checking & responding to e-mails from contacts. Several of what were previously telephone, then e-mail/list or text contacts circles seem to become invisible to the Farcebook etc,  etc crowd.

The expression Social Media should read Anti-Social Media in my opinion, I base my judgement of these upstarts on my successful 3 IT industry based nephews none of whom are willing to go near it.

Having said that Yahoo itself is doing a fine job of destroying mailing lists.

Hi Carol,
Just saw your post re possibly changing from Yahoo.
We have just transferred our Yahoo group to https://groups.io/

A lot of Yahoo groups have transferred there as it is very similar to use
but without all the hassles, allows attachments and members can select
their email delivery type as before, ....and it’s free!

Might be worth having a look.

Kind regards

Thanks for all the comments received so far, I'm collating them and sending them back to the responsible person.

To fill in the background, this is about the introduction of authorised off-street parking for motorhomes in Exmouth, to deal with the large numbers currently staying on the prime sea front on-street parking.

The £11 fee is in fact the same as currently charged for 24 hours on the on-street parking, they were initially proposing a £15 fee for the off-street motorhome parking but I suggested that it would be better to keep the charge the same.

I think it is good that the local council have introduced this scheme, far better than an outright ban which was on the cards initially.

Thanks for the link.

As ever -

- grateful for your involvement

- horrified at the price, I don’t pay that kind of money to park anything anywhere

- presumably you get stung for another ~fiver if you arrive to settle/eat at 7pm?

- so not exactly encouraging us to come and spend money in the town à la France

- why are councils (Lytham excepted) obsessed with 8am? (and why 10pm too?)

- ‘10pm-8am’ plus ‘£/24hours’ pus ‘3 days’ seems ambiguous, guess 3-days=2-nights

- to succeed at £11 and 24hours min this would have to be at pretty special places

Retailers short of trade use discounting & offers, councils short of trade put prices up.

My younger friends use the phrase “they just don’t get it, do they?”

Off to Dover tomorrow, la belle France on Monday, merveilleux!

Putting my bumper sticker on today - “Don’t blame me I voted Remain”.

PS: Are BBQs etc allowed in local parks as seems to be implied? Or is that just new speak for not allowed anywhere?

Best regards

I've been asked to comment on a proposed sign to be used at some car parks
where overnight stays are to be allowed.

Thought I'd ask for feedback here, there are a few clarifications I'd like
to see but what we'd like to know is, if you arrived at the car park and
were presented with this sign would you understand exactly what was
expected?

Feedback appreciated!

I would like to comment but cannot access your attachment. Clicking on
it takes me to Yahoo where after much hassle (never-ending new things
to sign) I get to the group, then attachments section and there is
nothing there.

Sadly, this is - as has been expressed before - a serious short-coming
of Yahoo groups.

Andy, why not post it on Facebook (along with your walks and pubs guides)?

I've been asked to comment on a proposed sign to be used at some car
parks where overnight stays are to be allowed.

Thought I'd ask for feedback here, there are a few clarifications I'd
like to see but what we'd like to know is, if you arrived at the car park
and were presented with this sign would you understand exactly what was
expected?

Feedback appreciated!

Thank you for that Andy.
I understand it very easily but I also think that £11 is a bit steep. From memory I think that Canterbury Park & ride is far more reasonable.

It confused me because in the “overnight” section it says you can stay 3 days in a row, therefore I was unsure if you could stay 3 nights or only 2 nights to make up the 3 days. Since it refers to buying 2 or 3 tickets, I guess it is the 2nd as it does not suggest you buy only one ticket.

However, the Parkmobile instructions seem contrary to this as that section suggests that a ticket lasts 24 hours.

Looks ok to me but £11 is a bit steep for just a parking spot or are
they planning water and loo emptying?

Yes, after a long read! Paying instructions somewhat wordy and
probably difficult to read after 10pm or a year or so's weathering. A
few more cartoon depictions maybe?

As others have said about the steep price - and that you have to get
up before 8am to buy standard parking ticket - would put me off
wanting to overnight there.

Thanks Andy for giving a link where we can actually see the image.

Instructions about the 'rules' are clear to me but the pricing instructions are very confusing and TimS has commented below about having to get up before 8am to buy a day ticket? Isn't the 'overnight' charge of £11 for 24 hrs though? so that is 10pm to 10pm isn't it or are we both confused?
