Peter there were some talk of these lights back along, if you search through ebay for LED lights you may find something.

Can't be more helpful...as someone else said, maybe not many have tried them and those that have could be away

Garmin 2610

Hi as many of you may recall I sold my 2610 at the end of last year but at the time I forgot to include the video from Garmin on how to use it. I contacted the winner of the auction on eBay and he didn't want it.

Would anyone on the list like it?

Hi Peter

Hope you don't mind a repetitive mail, but I asked if anyone had tried the new LED replacement bulbs for internal camper van lights. Amazingly, no one replied, so I'll ask again. They cost about £8.50 each, are available in bright white or warm white, supposedly give lots of light, but use a tiny fraction of the usual current.
Perhaps no-one replied as maybe few people have tried them?

In a motorhome the lighting is relatively low consumption, and would
probably take several days to exhaust the leisure batteries (without
getting into calculations...)

In comparison to TV/DVD/Laptop consumption, perhaps they are not worth
considering?

Is there any POIs for British commercial campsites anywhere - ie non-club sites?

Keep the wifi enabled one I would say, if just for the flexibility it

It's been mentioned before, I need to download it myself, so hopefully

There are some aspects of both clubs that I do not agree with, like the
CC not taking a deposit on bookings but most of the site staff I have
had contact with have been excellent which is more than can be said for
some of the customers they have to deal with.

The standard and cleanliness of the facilities and the maintenance of he
grounds is always excellent on club sites.

Having access to the thousands of CL & CS sites is worth the cost of
annual membership of the big clubs.

I suppose we should not have bothered booking ahead, as we had done in
December before going to Spain. We should have realised that the site
would not
have been full, at that time of year, and we could just have rolled up and
parked on the early arrival area. We would then have just been charged an
early
arrival fee, not the full amount for sitting on a car park.
In over 30 years of motorcaravanning, I have never booked ahead or been
refused a pitch when I have turned up at a site.

Admittedly, I have not always been able to have a hookup when I might have
preferred one but that has been no great hardship. After all, using the gas
heater is normally cheaper than the hookup charge.

We spent three nights out in the cold and windy a couple of weeks ago and
four nights out in the cold, windy and wet last week. Topped up the Gaslow
cylinder with autogas for GBP7.50. That's just over a pound a night,
including cooking.

We've stayed at the site in Rudesheim. Nice riverside walk into the town.
A large car park is outside the site and this was used by quite a few
motorhomes for overnighting and longer. A few were overnighting in a
square in the town were the buses park up.

Drove down the Rhine to Koblenz, lots of castles, then crossed the river
and did the other side. Caught a ferry at Bingen (or possibly Boppard) and
back over the river to Rudesheim. We should've gone down the Moselle, next
time definetly.

I don't blame you for being disgruntled - what a shame I couldn't get the British Passion going, for these quick stop overs on the way to and from somewhere..... and we never have booked ahead for a one night stop and these days don't use the actual club sites anymore anyway as the cl's are better value for money in many cases.

we arrived back five hours later than we should have and did not
arrive at
the Chertsey C & CC site until after midnight. We had telephoned from
Spain to
tell them we would be late.

We parked on the car park/late arrival area and found there were no
electric
hook ups and had to use gas to counteract the severe frost, earlier this
month.

On booking in, the following morning, we explained that we had not
arrived
until after midnight and asked if we could be charged the 'early
arrival' fee,
rather than a full night as we had arrived after midnight and there
was no
electric. The Site Manager refused and charged the full amount.

I wrote to C & CC explaining the position and have at last had a reply
stating that the Site Manager was correct in charging for the full
amount and also
saying that if we had cancelled the night we would still have been
charged
the full amount unless they had been able to sell the pitch to
somebody else.

The site has several hundred pitches and there were about twelve taken
up
that night!

I suppose we should not have bothered booking ahead, as we had done in
December before going to Spain. We should have realised that the site
would not
have been full, at that time of year, and we could just have rolled up
and
parked on the early arrival area. We would then have just been charged
an early
arrival fee, not the full amount for sitting on a car park.

I indicated in my letter to C & CC that I would be reporting to this
motorhome list and I do so now. I leave Members to consider the facts.

Re: [MH-list] This list

This subject has been aired many times over the years and changes were
made a couple of years back. The current rules are well defined in the
Motorhome List Rules which we all receive a copy of at regular
intervals.

-----------------
"The Motorhome-list is for the discussion of issues relating
to motorhome ownership & use and allied topics of interest to
motorhome users. The occasional drift of a subject into an
off topic area, or the occasional anecdotal or informational
message is to be expected and not discouraged."
-----------------

These are the rules of the club folks.

Re: [MH-list] This list

John Clemence

I think the wandering off topic contributes to the richness of this list and
demonstrates the wealth of information and goodwill delivering it. My only
problem is when some members use the list to air controversial views or
score political points. While these views are quite valid this list really
should not be used for them.
John.
...............................
I thought the idea of Motorhomes was to wander off course now-and-again?
.............................
Mostly we do.
Sometimes we wander.
Most of us don't have a problem with that.

....................
I thought this forum was for motor-homers.
Can we please stick to relevant topics...
