All

Sorry for the (double) confusion.

One, I meant Timsinc, I forgot that they might be more than one Tim!

Two, I thought that Timsinc was in charge of the list and could help with the transfer of another list. Peter S has come back to me - so that's sorted.

Again, sorry for the confusion.

Another sort of contactless, Martin. I have tried to contact you Off-List, but only received vague message delivery failed notices in response.

Could you please contact me direct.

Thanks

This Tim has emailed Mick! Suppose you could call me a list "manager"
in that the job of overseeing the OTlist fell on me.

Except when I forget (often) I sign myself here as TimS, or campervan Tim.

Thank you Peter.
Take care and stay safe.

App and CAMC Sites

Peter S

I have now had a reply from the CAMC about the use of the NHS App. As suspected you do not have to use it.

"The current Track & Trace system is in use at all Club campsites, and utilises our reservation system in order to minimise the administration burden on our members. On
24 September, the UK Government will introduce a new NHS QR code system within England & Wales in addition to the current Track & Trace procedure. This new system allows individuals to download a Govt App and then scan a code within hospitality venues, to “check in” to the venue - This is entirely voluntary, and whilst not a requirement for members to “check in”, the Club, and other campsites or holiday parks, are legally bound to display the new NHS QR Code posters at its campsites. We feel strongly that containing outbreaks at an early stage and reducing the ability for the COVID virus to spread is ultimately beneficial to us all and are asking our members and guests to support the use of the new system."

Ditto here plus I still have my 2010 27” iMAC. Brilliant kit all on it. Had the first iPad from states when it came out (even before they were here!! Exeter Apple asked me to take it in 💕

Have latest mini iPad as like the size

Use my phone the 11 Pro Max as my computer all the time even more than iPad.

So if you have any spare cash and you are not happy with the kit you have then treat yourself to an iPhone or iPad this Christmas.

Got in touch with developer but they reply by saying look on there website which does help. It appears they have only tested the app with about 20 model of phones that they say are compatible.
The app will not work on less than Android 6 or an IPhone below 6. Not much use to those of us who do not change our technology on the whim of fashion.

The ideal phone for grockles and elderly technophobes. They work well for calls and texts, but little else. And they seem to last just long enough to get out of warranty. We have a drawer full of broken ones. Their best features were clamshell cover - to save phoning people by mistake, big buttons and t9 or “Predictive Text.” Saved pressing “7” 4 times to get an S.

Problem being that most phones with the t9 spec do not work with 3G or with Three.

Love to know of one that does, anyone. The missus hates her current Ushining.

I just thought I'd let you know that Doro do a smartphone now. My 85-year old deaf mother-in-law got one towards the beginning of lockdown so she could be involved with her community of friends via WhatsApp.
My husband got it all sorted for her along with broadband, and she took to it like a duck to water! It's been absolutely brilliant for her to be able to video call people, look things up on the internet etc. It's the first time she's ever been on the internet! And she can hear it really well - no interference with the hearing aids.

I nearly bought a Doro phone. They have big numbers and big keys and a loud ring so old, deaf people like me can use them but they don’t do internet at all and they are not cheap.
So I stuck with my motorollo which cost the same as a Doro.
Much later I was flush and I bought an apple but I still have the Motorola and it still works fine. It sits in the van, plugged in, behind something and with an old PAYG SIM card which costs me about £5 a year and with ‘find my phone’ turned on. Hopefully that is my tracker if the van gets stolen. Don’t think you can do that with a Doro.
